I'm sure this set will need multiple production runs but it should remain available periodically and with occasional backorders for the next couple years. This set will also probably be available at other retailers including Amazon and Target. Point being: if you want it immediately, watch Lego's and fansites' social media for the formal launch. If time isn't critical, you can be confident it'll be available at list price sooner than later and that it will sell out only temporarily.

From hat I read, it will simply be out June 1st. You go to the Lego store and pick it up or buy it on their website.

While many Lego fans have expressed anticipation for the novelty of this set both in terms of it being the first Transformers Lego set and this being transformable, Transformers fans are mixed on the toy due to lack of knee articulation and headsculpt. You will let us know what you thinK!

Pretty sure this is a one-and-done deal. Though I certainly wouldn't mind future collaborations between the two companies, even outside Transformers! I love when companies stop competing against each other and actually cooperate to give us something awesome.

Yes, the socket brick is debuting with the tallneck lego set, and the mouth plate part may be entirely new - I don't keep up with new parts and parts in new colors very strictly though

The Brothers Brick and other Lego review sites routinely photograph new part and color availability.
Also apparently the mouthplate part is in the new succulents set.

Is it? Got'cha, I don't think Brickset mentioned it in their review, thats good to know. I know one new part is that dark grey ratchet part in the thigh assembly that I'm really excited for, I only MOC large robots, and I am thriving with the new ratchet parts that have debuted this year

It looks like it's this design, only in flame orange so far:
https://brickset.com/parts/design-1762
And I was curious, so I checked up on you, and they did mention it in their review and photographed the new part. I didn't take much note of it at the time since there are a lot of unusual parts and colors in the Botanicals Collection.

Transformers and Lego are in a race to see who can bankrupt me, and Brickset is very helpful in that regard.

That's cool, thanks. I don;t really buy much lego unless it can further my mecha moc's (which meant double dipping on the ninjago megazord for more of those new ratchet joints) but I fully intend to grab this and see if i can upgrade it

Wow, I had no idea this was even a thing! Looks like it just come out a little over a week ago and already sold out everywhere but eBay for double the price. I'll have to check a few local stores and see if ones around, I don't exactly trust store local stock checkers online.
I might get Optimus, not sure, maybe just as an investment.

it was sold out in the first 30 mins. I believe they are both exclusive to lego stores and the site.

But I'm interested for sure.
This is a pretty cool looking set.
it's a little unfortunate that the print for the eyes is a bit too high on that tile.
But still, I'm definitely interested in this.

The problem is that it's sitting on a special plate that raises it a little, the print actually take up the entire height of the plate. I dislike it too, but its something that I can easily swap out, just not sure is that'll look any better though

Well I knew target stores stock random 18+ sets, but I didn't want people to think it was gonna get a wider release than it is, seems tallneck is being stocked by retailers online, but is not being sold in stores (save lego stores) just yet, if ever. But you are right

Target and Amazon both stock 18+ sets, so they'll probably have this, but we will have to check after the release date.

Yeah I don't think an explanation was ever given as to why Kre-o just ended. But I'm kind of glad in a way this Optimus Lego set is a one off. It looks amazing...
But to start a whole new line of Lego TF Minifigures would be detrimental to my wallet. I still have somewhere between 350-400 unique Kreons, and that is enough.

AcademyofDrX wrote:(...) Kre-O never fit.
Seriously though, Kre-O did do a whole lot better than Built-To-Rule (not saying much, I know) and some other lines, and did improve on itself as it went on, but like most wanna-be interlocking brick lines it simply lost steam and came to a halt. I will say I adore the cleverness of some of the Microchangers, which is the thing that set it apart from Lego.
I'm actually quite curious about the design process of this set. It must have been pretty difficult to plan a converting model like this one. Who were the people behind this?

For me I lost interest when they stopped putting codes on the blind bags and I had to break down a few GI Joe sets.

Firstly, Lego released an announcement video and it stars the voice of Jon Bailey, who has played Optimus Prime several times now.
Also, we now know that this Lego set is designed by a former Transformer designer Joe Kyde. And we have a US listing on the Lego store site. This item is NOT available for preorder. It is simply being released June 1st where you can order it on the site or buy it in a Lego store. The site labels this as an exclusive. The price is $169.99 USD which is standard for a licensed product made of this many pieces.
