As many of you are probably aware a supposedly leaked Transformers 4 script has been making it's way around the internet. We were actually supplied with this script a couple of weeks ago through an anonymous news submission. The script was allegedly recovered by someone working at a document shredding facility. After reviewing the script we came to the conclusion that is was almost certainly a fake and chose not bother posting it as news. Since then several entertainment websites, such as Unleash The Fan Boy, have ran with the script and it's picked up enough traction to draw the attention of Paramount and director Michael Bay. Which brings us to the official statement we just received from our friends at Paramount officially debunking this rumor. See the Michael Bay's statement below:

Re: *Supposed* TF4 script leak: LOTS of details.

Hi there,
Please find below a statement from director Michael Bay, refuting the earlier news about the "Transformers 4" script referenced by writer Steve Lemlek, being leaked online.

"Some Internet sites this morning reported that some document recovery guy has found a legitimate 120 page script of Transformers 4. I can absolutely 100 percent say this is completely false. The only two people in the world that have our unfinished script are Kruger and myself. Also we are only up to page 70 in our T4 script. Maybe this guy has a cartoon or something else – but definitely not our movie!"

Thank goodness! It was basically the 1986 movie plus Circuit Breaker, the Protectobots, uber fanwank, and time travel. No way would something like THAT be real.

Does Seibertron have a "No Movie News" option (similar to another TF site)? Just curious, I would really appreciate it, personally. As far as I'm concerned those lowest common denominator abominations directed by some pathological liar and egotist have NOTHING to do with the Transformers. But maybe that's just me…

Why do I get the feeling that any discarded TF script (other than any written by Michael bay) found in the studio will be better than his current one  only time will tell >:oP

Sorry, but there's no "no movie news" option available on Seibertron.com. Those of us not happy with them just have to pass over the news-bites.

this proves that there was some validity to the script, if it was "fake" then why would they even care about it?

Too bad to. Scarlet Johanson would make a sexy great Circuit Breaker

I figured it was fake, but considering that it would be a better read than the real script, I read it.

Even before Bay gave this confirmation, the folks over at Allspark.com were already one step ahead of him and exposed the false nature of the script. ;)

We more or less had the same discussion internally when the script first turned up. It's pretty clear to seasoned TF fans that it's fake, though I can see why entertainment websites with less specific interests would be fooled.

It looks as though the next installment of the Transformers movie franchise will not receive a comic book adaptation. Director Michael Bay posted an update to his message yesterday that debunked the leaked movie script rumor indicating Transformers 4 will not receive the comic treatment to help keep the movie's plot under wraps. You'll remember prior to Transformers: Dark of the Moon's opening the comic adaption leaked and spoiled the film's major twist involving Sentinel Prime. See the statement from Bay's website below:

Michael Bay wrote:P.S. I bet it is something from Hasbro. This time they are not doing a comic book of the movie because we want to keep our story under wraps. It must be their version of a comic themed Transformers story they are creating.

Seeing as how stumbling across that spoiler really dulled DOTM's impact for me...good call Michael. Perhaps his most sound TF decision yet.

Of course, IDW might just do one the following year. They did "Wrath of Khan" 2 decades later, so why not?

Director Michael Bay's official facebook page was just updated with his previously released response in regards to the TF4 script leak. The comment itself isn't new, but it came with a new TF4 movie poster. As you can see in the image mirrored below the poster features Optimus Prime in the background with a group of onlookers in the foreground. Whether this image was just thrown together to accompany the facebook update, or it actually factors into the plot of TF4 is of course unknown.

Some Internet sites reported that some document recovery guy has found a legitimate 120 page script of Transformers 4. I can absolutely 100 percent say this is completely false. Not saying I disagree about the faces, but technically they only look "weird" and "monster-like" to us becuase they are aliens. What's natural to them may look foreign and abnormal to us, and vice versa. These faces are just more "different" than the usual "metal Earth human-like faces" we're so accustomed to seeing.

And, again, they're "alien" robots. We Earthlings have our visions of what robots tends to look like, so it's likely that those of other planets have their own visualization for robotic design.

Why must something not originally from the Planet Earth resemble a design that is easily recognized as originating from the Planet Earth? ;)

I mean, realistically speaking, extraterrestrial lifeforms originating from locations far off away from the Earth wouldn't be surprising to appear in forms beyond our typical comprehension and comfort zones of how aliens should look. :-B

And these movies try to go for such an approach. Yet, there are still very obvious design cues that still stem from Earthly designs due to the natural limitations of the human imagination when trying to draw away from the familiar and into the unknown. ;)

>> Limited imagination

>> Macross and a whole ton of mecha have limited imagination.

Giant robots that strain your eyes as they fold away into a million cgi effects making no logical sense. I mean this is a new low for being a Bay apologist. Bay did not shy away from anthropomorphization when he gave Devastator balls, Bumblebee peeing, or made Jetfire fart. I guess those scenes were due to his limited imagination. (see what I did there)

I am a fan of classic mech design. Anywhere from UC Gundam, Macross, Transformers, and so on. This whole post is disses to every single giant robot or scifi series that has ever been made. I mean Star Trek had countless humanoid alien species.

I really do hope Pacific Rim smashes Transformers 4 at the box office. Like we need this again. We don't. We also get that Americans are rejecting the designs as DotM did not sell very well. It was a novel idea having your insides become your outsides for a Transformer at the time. Now, it is just grating.

Thing is, the Transformers are aliens. always have been since day 1. The latter two examples are supposed to look like things from Earth (turtles and cats). The TFs come from Cybertron, so if the Cybertronian look ain't nothing like the Earth look, so be it.

This kind of thing works in live action form since a look more like the blocky G1 look or any other non-Movieverse seires look would make them look more like giant toy robots, or even Megazords (mostly referring to the singular unit, non-combining ones), rather than technological lifeforms.

It's kinda like how a real life human looks far more detailed and alive than a cartoon character design run through the most advanced CG render to make it look realistically three-dimensional with still having that smooth, undetailed cartoony look. Think like in those live action Looney Tunes movies in which the characters look really there, but don't look "real" themeselves, if you get my drift.

Now, I will agree that the movie designs do look a bit overdetailed with too many panels and wires and such, though a more compromised design aesthetic that might work in live action while being more easy on the eyes would be the video game designs from WFC/FOC. Those look reasitica enough without being too jarring, and enough like the typicl Transformers designs without looking too much like giant-sized children's play things. ;)

I kinda hope that is the case, considering how eager Optimus was in killing his foes, especially his mentor Sentinel in DOTM. He should really fall into a state of depression and ends up going crazy 8-}

Then Rodimus will kill him and be the new Leader of the Autobots, shattering childrens' heart again since 1984. :michaelbay:

Um, what? You do realize it wasn't Bay who made these designs, right? Bay just directed them and gave his two cents, it was the art development team who created them and such.

Again, it wasn't Bay who drew these designs. and you ought to know very well that the wrecking balls are not in the same category as what I've referring to here. And none of those examples, save for the Transformers, fall into any of what I was getting at with the movie designs. You're just looking for an excuse for some random Bay bashing whne Bay wasn't even a factor in this alien robot design discussion.

DOTM didn't sell well for a number of reasons, but mostly because most the return film characters had mostly the same designs they've already had (which kids already bought in the previous movie toylines and so didn't feel compelled to buy something very similar to what they already had), and becuase retailers overstocked the toys to an ungodly degree that they're still sitting on the shelves almost 1 1/2 years after they first arrived. Not to mention the lousy MechTech gimmick that only seemed half-decent for any figure above deluxe class. And all the excess Robo Power stuff no one bought since were for an audience too young to even be interested in the films and their characters. And, to top it all off, all the insane price hikes retailers kept pushing with the economy getting worse and worse. Oy. DOTM's toyline was a flop, yes, but not specifically for the design aesthetic of the characters (otherwise Movie 1 and ROTF's toylines wouldn't have done so well, and ROTF had an awesome toyline 8) ;)^ ).

And, the more successful the films are, the more money Hasbro earns, the more Generations toys they can give us. ;)

As awesome as GaoGaiGar is, there's no denying that they still look like giant toy robots, which is what these films don't want to do. They want them to look like alien robot lifeforms, not giant action figures. A toy-like look drives away casual adult moviegoers as they don't want to watch something that says "children's movie". i'd rather this weren't the case, but sadly it is.

That is the problem, the movies are for average movie goers. That will always be the problem. The TF movies try to be action, romance, sci fi, comedy... its idiotic. You make a movie to make something unique, creative and interesting, not just to appeal enough so that you ensure seats and sales.
As for the designs:
They're pretty over complicated, as everyone has already mentioned. The Foc/WFC designs should have been the happy comprimise (the toy robot look i believe would have appealed to the now more targeted audience, and if executed well with lots of moving parts like in the game, would still look sick in motion). I like some of the movie figures because they are complex toys, however in the movie, they are just a flying mess of cg that ends up looking too fake as all those seams just magically dissappear in alt. mode. There are some sweet transformation sequences but I feel that an oldschool fan would ALWAYS prefer G1 devastator over a boring beast vacuum cleaner.
I'm pretty done complaining about the movies coz its beating a dead horse. They allow for some cool toys, and thats great (however the classics/generations lines are FAR superior to most movie figures). I will always have the awesome games and comics, and the figures, so let the movies suck all they want, I'll just rewatch the animated movie and feel better.
