Here's what he had to say:
I want to thank Nelson for running such a good site!
For the millions of viewers that logged on this year I want to thank you for the support. Transformers 2 will be coming soon. The new robots are really really unique and there are a lot of them this time.
I WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE A GREAT HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR.
Your friend,
Michael

Still, I can't help but envision popsicle stick puppet bots when I think of unique and intresting

Why?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first film, but there were many parts of it that were paper thin. What will this be? Can you go below paper thin?
Oh yeah...Uwe Boll.

Oh well, it wouldn't bother me much if there were not many movies to watch, I'd be able to catch up on all the ones I missed already and there's still a lot of holes in my TF collection to work on if there isn't a TF2 movie line to collect.
Posted by Jazzz on December 31st, 2007 @ 8:38pm CST
So what he really means is:
I want nelson to die,
I think the millions of people who logged on need to get a life.
Transformers 2 is coming in 2013. The robots won't have any feelings. And there won't be any new bots!
Have a crappy new year. And get cancer.
Michael
or not. I want more robots and to be healthy.

I DO wonder if all the surviving TFs from the first Movie will be in TF2, as well as a whole bunch of new TFs, and if they are, if they'll have the same vehicle modes? It seems unlikely. I mean, Movie Bumblebee (Camaro) is awesome, but I doubt that Hasbro will want to release the same figure again, since "everyone" will already have at least one version from the first Movie.

It's easy:
If Michael Bay, or any of the people involved in the movie, say something - IT'S LEGIT.
If something is LEAKED, it's a RUMOUR until we have official proof that proves it's legitimacy.

Please o please make a pre-war cybertron version too. haha. I'm actually curious to see some false leak rumors and stuff. Just to see the level of what the legit bots will be.

Do you honestly believe that he's lying and the truth is that there will be a few boring robots? It's a sequel, of course he's telling the truth this time.

Vague and useless as always, I see Bay did not make a New Years resolution to not open his mouth to just talk crap.

Sure X-box-360 Bot and Mountain Dew Bot were all well and good.
But where was the iBot, or the DellBot, SonyBot, SamsungBot, Wal-Bot, McBot, NintenBot, Verizbot, T-Mobot, Comcabot, DirectTV-Bot and all the other Product Placement robots?
Hopefully with Transformers 2, we'll see a helluva lot more needless Product Placement Bots.

Read what Bay said, he said he was "going to leak a lot of false information all over the place."
If he SAYS something it's true because he's basically making an official statement. This isn't someone hacking into the ILM mainframe and stealing stuff. If it comes from the man himself, it's legit. If you don't know where it comes from, it's a rumour!
There is a fundamental difference between a STATEMENT and a LEAK.

Jaz-Zen wrote:I have mixed feelings about TF2. On the one hand, based on how Hasbro has milked the Movie line so far, if TF2 has lots of TFs, then maybe each one will only be repainted once, instead of, what, 4 or 5 times?? But on the other hand, lots of TFs may just mean EVEN MORE characters to repaint a million times.

I agree that the repaints are redundant, but it's not like you have to get them.
Your dollar is your vote, if you spend it on a figure, that tells Hasbro "OK lets do more of that", don't spend it and they'll be less prone to keep doing something.
Now if we can just get through to the completionists, and gift givers who don't know any better, maybe one day they'll take a hint. You know repaints have always been around, but each line just seems to be getting more and more reliant upon them than new figures.

"there are a lot of them this time. " is not a very reassuring line. (Especially coming from a liar.)
A lot can mean a dozen, for you and me. Maybe even a battalion.
But it can also mean 2 to 3 new guys with a lot of new parts or dizzying sizes.

How does it insult or berate the fans? The guy just wants his project to remain a secret, so does the studio. Its no worse than people hacking his computer, a crime, to get info on the film and share it illegally with us. And what about the death threats? Berating and insulting the "fans"?..pfft dont make me laugh...

If he is leaking information, wouldn't he need to be the one giving that information, which may or may not be true?
That there will be new robots is a forgone conclusion, they need the Wow-effect these robots will bring and Hasbro wants to sell more toys (and sometime the variants don't sell anymore). I'd be surprised if there actually weren't any new charactes.
But otherwise, I think, Bay will knowingly or unknowingly give false information which will later be written off as those "wrong leaks" he promised. It's actually an easy way to keep face and keep the fans docile, because everything they don't like, will be written off as "wrong leak" till the movie actually comes out.

Then make is a secret. I have nothing against that. In fact, i agree to the secrecy.
But not to the creating of misleading items.
And if this crazy scheme is meant as a revenge for the death threats, it's unnecessary. He shouldn't stoop so low.
You can't fight evil with another evil.
Just stay your course. Do the right thing. Don't go down and do the dirty fights just because some fan started it.
He's a big guy. Stay big and respectable.

This way the fans get a taste for things to come but simply wont know for certain which IMO is doing them a good deed because they wont have everything spoiled for them, and people like me who want to be left in the dark and not have the movie totally spoiled for us by obsessive compulsive TF fans with nothing better to do will have nothing to worry about.
This also helps the hype machine immensely and will eventually result in even bigger box office takings which will help with further sequels which means new toys for us to collect.

It's uncalled for to trick people. Especially fans.
Posted by Zombie Starscream on January 1st, 2008 @ 5:35pm CST
What I hope he changes is giving more time to the robots. I don't want to see a ton of human scenes unless its the military, and I am not interested in seeing Sam and Mikaela make out. If they are in it, they had better be adding something to the movie.

Auto Bot wrote:Just keep it a secret. Simple. Period.

I dont see why...this sort of thing happens all the time with movies, so why all the attention on just this one?
Do you think Bay gives a crap about the fans? No. He is just doing his job and by the sounds of it he simply enjoys working with the source material so he wants to make more, that and anything with the TF name on it will make a shedload of money. He doesnt care about fans, he doesnt have any sort of sentimental connection to the source material like we do. He just wants to do his job and have fun and earn a living and the studio just want to make a crapload of money again. This is the movie business, thats how things work.
If anything we owe Bay after the shameful way that "fans" have acted towards him and his work.
