Site sponsor BigBadToyStore has listed three new Generation 1 reissue pre-orders:
- Ultra Magnus
- Astrotrain
- Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor
These are likely being reissued for the Asian market, but good opportunity for those who may have missed these great figures in the past.

Agree. And enough Optimus Prime toys already. Next thing you'll see is an utility belt around its waist.

And I'm guessing Magnus still has the same firing safety missiles? No new launcher alteration?
10 years ago, this was huge news. Now? Even if you missed both trucks and the last Optimus and Soundwave reissues, has their price gone up on the secondary market? Is this in anticipation of the U.S. Supreme court killing all secondary markets this coming Monday? (Seriously, that case needs to get SOPAed; everyone, do your homework!)

I miss the Ultra Magnus car-carrier mode, but the bot mode was horrible and might as well have been a statue. If someone would do a carrier, a-la FansProject-like, for the Classics/Henkei Magnus I'd be all over it.

Yes they did. It was a Hasbro Toy shop exclusive and featured the black train/white shuttle deco.Bumblevivisector wrote:Hasbro didn't already do an Astrotrain reissue, right?

Sarcasm... Hmmm...
Fort Max, fair enough. Hasn't Devastator had several reissues? May be wrong on that one, and as for Twincast, we've had the Blaster mold before... I used lioKaiser as an example, as it has never had a UK release, pretty certain the US didn't see it either and the only option is the likes of ebay, where recently I have seen it up for £1000...

Devastator has had 1 reissue. There are plenty of examples of toys that got one round only, by both companies. If you want Liokaiser, just say so. Now you're making it sound like there's been only three reissues that have been repeated a million times.

Damn dude, you should have been watching HLJ a few years back after the initial reissue. That thing didn't sell and they ended up marking him down drastically. I was able to get him landed here for about $50.

I know, I've long missed the boat. I've got my POL at BBTS, so there's plenty of time to kick myself. Tell me, what's HLJ like? Never dealt with them, so some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Nice exaggeration there, in no way did I make it sound that bad. One reissue is still one more reissue than a whole catalogue of figures have had. I was referring to the figures in this post, which maybe aside from Astrotrain are not that hard to get a hold of.

I've used them for years, postage is good because it's coming from Japan, not the US.
Lately though i've been a little disappointed in them since their site redesign. They don't seem to be carrying as much in the way of TF's, and those that they do, they don't announce early bird pre-orders so I find myself missing out.
For example, MP Cassettes ... didn't even see the pre-order go up, but they're already on order stop.

Also, HELL YEAH GINRAI!
It's one of my favorie Transformers ever so for those who missed out now's your chance to get him!
EDIT:
Just saw the prices.
Astrotrain: 55$. NOPE! Especially for a tiny scout class figure.
Powermaster OP: 115$.
Ouch... I'm so glad to have obtained mine loose, 100% complete with sticker sheets and instructions for only 60$ plus 15$ of shipping. That was back in 2010 on Ebay. I applied the stickers of course and transformed him many times. Man I love it! 115$ for brand new is a little expensive, but you end up with a SUPREME class bot with lots of modes possible. If you dont have Ginrai, it's totally worth it.

About Ginrai
Not to mention its been severely "neutered" for safety concerns. You can get the "Child unfriendly" version at much lower prices.

Appart the longer missile, what else was changed?
Mine is the first TrU reisue (I guess) that have the longer missile that shoot not very far. Appart that, I have no idea what else is different from the original Japanese release.
De original Ginrai had shorted smokestaks, mainly for the super mode look I bet.
Posted by fenrir72 on October 28th, 2012 @ 11:01pm CDT
I like the accessories "child unfriendly". So not only was it sharper, the springs fire the projectile with more strength.
As for the stacks, it's quite surprising that the original Ginrai has "shorter chromed stacks" over the Powermaster Optimus Prime having "longer unchromed stacks" (this time in reverse so surprise surprise no?)
And he had a biocard included (the Japanese re-issue which I own) and the classic Japanese grid red and white format.

The biocard was removed because you can easely slit a throat with it. And you wanted that dagerous assasin weapon included, you maniac?!
THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
Wakawakawaka . . . o . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The biocard btw is made of harder stock than the subsequent Encore cards.........truly a lethal weapon hehehehe

If the Takara one is way too much expensive, why not just buy the Hasbro version and a diecast long smokestacks mod kit?
Sure, it's a pain to mod, but well worth it.

I wouldn't even know where to get such a kit (never heard of it before).
Besides, I don't mind paying extra to support Takara. Time and time again they seem to (for the most part) do things better than Hasbro, so throwing more money their way and skipping on a Hasbro release doesn't bother me.
I know the short stacks isn't Hasbro's fault (US safety regulations and all), but in general they make choices about paint apps and colors (orange Prime anyone ?) that really confound me, yet consistently Takara gets them right.

And the Hasbro re-issue is the same as the Takara version (aside from the stacks). Unless, Hasbro uses another type of PVC/ABS material like the one used on the trailer of Optimus........

Don't forget that the hasbro version also has the safety regulated 3 inch missiles.

The original PM Prime did have longer smokestacks, funnily enough. The only real difference between the reissues is, as always, in the missiles: the US ones are longer and not chromed.
