But I had the G1 Galvatron figure way back when. It always bugged me that the toy bore only passing resemblance to the animation model (like almost ALL the movie line figures of that time). I was disappointed in the end with Titans Return Galvatron as well, mostly because of that horrible flip-up face mask.
But this one? It seems of interest. Though it looks like there's no way for them to make the support struts in the cannon mode as thin and spindly as they were in the cartoon.

The G1 comics portrayed him much more effectively, and his colors were better as well IMO. So if the Selects version is really true, that's the 1 I'll be getting.DeathReviews wrote:I admit, I never much cared for Galvatron as a 'character' in the series. Also darn those new MOTU figures for giving me major nostalgia feels.

Yeah, a few things could've been better imo;
bulky chest almost seems unnecessary-- doesn't look like that affects the canon mode.
sculpt issues-- shoulders may be a bit low, and I still don't like the "ab" section being so square... It should've been taller and narrower, or after watching the movie a couple nights ago, shorter (but still a rectangle, not a square).
battle damage paint apps-- totally unnecessary, and doesn't add anything, seems to do the opposite.
color-- maybe just my preference, but he should've been Blue-Violet, not Violet. But in a couple of these more recent shots, it's maybe better than I initially thought.
For me the long list of positives far outweigh any of these items that for me are relatively small nit-picks...
Just my opinion, but if people are completely unhappy with this version, then they wouldn't have been happy with any version that wasn't based specifically on a single incarnation such as a comic book appearance, or in other words, their own ideal (which at the same time would mean limited mass-appeal).
TR was roughly what, 5 years ago? And yeah, some are happy with that Galvatron... But a lot will agree that he was at least somewhat compromised by that gimmick...
Seems to me that another G1 version of this guy (or any recent G1 character) that is solely based on G1 appearance won't happen for a long while after this. Which makes sense.
I have no doubt it could be another 3-4 years minimum... And I wouldn't doubt for a second if that future release is tied to some gimmick that's much more intrusive than battle damage paint apps.
My thought/advice for anyone on the fence... Go for it. May seem a bit much considering the Leader Class price, but consider the aftermarket price once he's difficult/impossible to get from a regular retail/online offer.

You'd think, with how poorly Arcee was received in Earthrise, they wouldn't want to release her again so soon. Wheeljack is another odd choice. There are tons of him clogging shelves at Walmarts, though they probably didn't know that would happen when the Kingdom waves were set up.

So far Grimlock (in a 2-pack with Earth mode Sideswipe as an Amazon exclusive) is the only repaint that's been mentioned.
Is there even plans for a fourth Netflix line? 3 seasons, 3 waves, it feels pretty complete now.

There's no apparent plans for a fourth wave. If anything we'll get another Netflix series for Post-WFC because they're cheap to make (and we got the also-cheap Prime Wars series before WFC).
There was no Netflix Dinobot, that was something people kept wishing for and created in their minds as a guarantee. That said, we only know half the Selects of this year (going by when orders go up, not when they release); we're not even halfway through 2021 and the last two unrevealed Selects are Toy Galvatron and Artfire. There's definitely more that aren't leaked but are likely in a different department than the leakers.

What we actually need is a pic of him and Rodimus Prime standing straight up, and side by side (also a better height comparison of Rodimus Prime). That is what will determine whether they're worthwhile, or whether one or even both is/are a worthless waste of money, development time, and plastic that needs to be scrapped and redone. Galvatron could turn out too big, but at least in his case there's the Titans Return figure. If Rodimus (who has no such fallback) turns out too small, which that comparison with the undersize WFC Optimus (who everybody is too dazzled by the looks of IMO) has me worried might be the case the case... I'm going to be pissed.

Honestly, the Titans return figure was so close to being great. It was just ruined by the stupid gimmick of the pop up facemask headmaster, and the insistence that all Voyagers at the time be some kind of triple changer.
This does look better. A light up cannon would be awesome, but I'm afraid we're years beyond that ever happening again.

I'm going to tell you right now so that you're not disappointed.
Rodimus is a voyager class figure being sold at the commander class price point. Yes, he has his little pop up base that will never be used, but they're pulling the ol' "throw some extra crap in the box so we can up the price point" crap on us.
So no matter how he scales, he'll be a rip off. We're being sold a $30-$40 toy for $90 to $100.
In a way, it's our fault. We bought into the small deluxe Hot Rot being sold at the voyager class price. And as good as the figure is, it still has some flaws, but they packed in a Matrix that can't be put in his chest and a pizza cutter, so now you're paying $10 extra.
The Galvatron will be a voyager class figure sold at the leader class price point, using the justification that he comes with two space ship guns or whatever.

It's not that big of a deal to wait four more years for a good Galvatron figure, I've lost count of the years waiting for MP Galvatron XD
If this one isn't to my liking when better pictures are out then I'll probably hunt down the toy color reissue during the wait for a must have Galvatron. I can't see me liking the selects version if the Kingdom one looks to be off in a lot of areas but who knows.

Same with the SS Hot Rod. No deluxe has that level of transformation. At least not in the last 10 years. Also, Rodimus has barely any hollow bits. If you still don’t think it’s worth it, that’s fine, but Hasbro isn’t “ripping us off.”

Haha if you're an easy mark I guess I am too, because I'm loving what's being released rn. And if the prices are higher for higher quality toys then so be it. I wasn't a big fan of the prime wars trilogy, though of course I love my optimal Optimus and Broadside. As far as all the complaints go, I get annoyed at times too but perhaps constant complaints are what raised the standard for toys to be as good as they are today haha if you want to look at it that way. Anyways, I guess keep in mind that with any situation, negativity tends to be noticed a lot more than positivity. And those that are content tend to have less to say than those that are not.
I think of it like when someone complains about a SO to their friends or family, or complains about friends or family to a SO. What tends to happen is the negative impression sticks with the person receiving the complaints because they never hear about or witness any of the positives, and they tend to dislike that person or people because all they have to go off of are the complaints. Same thing with transformers toys
