It's a big day for Takara's Unite Warriors UW 04 Devastator. We finally get his official stock images showing all the delicious new paint apps and now two more Japan sites are offering up pre-orders.

It's a big day for Takara's Unite Warriors UW 04 Devastator. We finally get his official stock images showing all the delicious new paint apps and now two more Japan sites are offering up pre-orders.

HLJ has their preorder up for 20,000 Yen, which equals 164$ US.

Amiami also has their preorder up (thanks to a tip from Cobotron and Carrytheone) for 18,730 Yen, which equals 152$ US.

These two join anime-export in Japanese sites offering discounts on Devastator (Anime-export has him for 17500 Yen (146$ US), for those keeping track).

Both of these prices do not include shipping which depends on where Devastator is being sent. Another point that should be taken into account is the exchange rate. While the low Yen was favorable for American buyers, a change in the Yen could means a premium down the line. In certain cases, you cannot cancel a pre-order (at amiami for instance) and while you only have to pay when an item is ready to ship (in this case, December), the future exchange rate is unpredictable. Just something to consider for anyone who hasn't imported from Japan before.

So, cobotron, will you be getting this guy or the hasbro version? I always wanted to get Takara's simply to encourage them to keep doing the good work and I preffer supporting them. I am just happy it wont cost me an arm and a leg to do it (just a few fingers).

Why not go to TF Source, they give you free shipping. And you get a slight discount too http://tfsource.com/transformers-unite/devastator/

Is it just the photography, or is the Takara Devastator more yellow than he Hasbro one?

Call it a lighting fluke until we get comparison images. :)

Considering the penchant currency has for changing value, prepaying with anime export doesn't seem too crazy today.

I am generous and friendly, and always enjoy helping fellow collectors get the thing they are after, but I'm not stupid. You bet your beige banker britches I put in my prezie before I brought the info over here to the forums.

I've never chimed in on my opinion on whats going on with all the different Devy's. Honestly, I would have probably been happy with Hasbro's retail version. But I'm at a nice point in my life where I don't have to settle for second best anymore. I considered getting the retail version and the 3P fixes, but the money would be around the same as the Takara, and I don't want someone else to fix all the little issues. I want the experts to fix them, and they did.

I would have gone with anime-export, but truth is I don't have the scratch to throw down at the moment, but by December I can.
Also I've been at this long enough that I can totally tolerate the wait. Especially for a flip down visor! (amongst other things)

AmiAmi price is a bit disappointing since it starts from a base of 27,000JPY with the 8% sales tax while the other sites are going off of 25,000JPY without the tax. Still going to go with AmiAmi since December is an expensive holiday month and they give you a week to make your payment.

In terms of shipping do you think all Japan sites will charge about the same in a shipment of just devastator?

I'm likewise in a position to not settle for second best. I'm thinking of processing an order with Anime Export tonight, but I've never before dealt with them. Are they trustworthy if I am paying upfront like this?

I know I'm nobody to you guys, never really post, just lurk. That being said, I've ordered quite a bit from anime-export and I've never had a problem. I usually go with HLJ just because it means I don't have to pay for it right away, but whenever I go through anime-export, there's never a problem.

No. Some like hobbysearch don't use sal parcel for the bigger releases. And the rates vary by a few hundred yen.

And I'm gonna use my accumulated points for the year to lop off some of the cost for the Devman at amiami.

Look at the hands, the left foot and the threads, just to start. And of course, there are all the extra features but I assume you were talking about deco.

Mooncake had experience with them and said they are perfectly fine. The only downside is paying sooner but I believe that it's also the reason for being the cheapest price around.

Well Anime export says you must go by EMS. However, as I learnt from amiami, the big boxes cost about the same from EMS to SAL but you get it a week earlier using EMS. A few hundred yen is something I can deal with ;)

Honestly... Other than elbows, the overall appearances of individual bots and the combined form are really really close.
For me, the biggest difference that affects the appearance of Devastator is the hands.
Which is why I went ahead and bought the PE set... No worries.

This will be the first time I buy a titan class straight from amiami etc. My Metroflex was from a local hobby shop.

MP UM, UW-01 and Encore 20A and Alter mu#12 were my biggest ever. You'd think EMS is a no brainer for the speed over sal parcel but in the country I'm stationed, EMS don't deliver :BOOM:

I have to spend an effort and funds just to get to the airport hub. I hope Devs maintains a sal parcel weight range.

And yup, I'll have the funds ready by Christmas. So more or less January 2016 is my ETA.

Though I understand about the pay now system of Anime Export, unless the item is a limited type like Guardian, going for amiami is the mot practical (and their points accumulation system will greatly help at further tapering the cost).

Yeah, its awesome! Your premium for importing him is just the actual import costs. The only problem is that you will indeed pay the taxes when he comes to canada. They will be unavoidable with Devastator.

The deal with amiami is that they have one of the cheapest prices online and thus sell out very quickly. You have to preorder their stuff in advance. Superion has been sold out for a while.

I don't really mind the price difference as much if it's just the cost of import. It might hit a bit hard, but the difference is within what I would consider acceptable in relation to how much cooler this version is.

Also, I feel the premium we will pay will look like peanuts in 2 years when we see how much this guy sells for on the secondary market. This isnt just a few extra paint apps, its different tooling and engineering.

That is because when you order it domestically they are including the freight from Asia to their store/warehouse. I would fully expect it to be cheaper 'before shipping' for precisely that reason.

Very tempting...

Perfect head-sculpts aside, the individual Constructicons look kind of simple, they are defenitly not "Masterpiece" material -- the combined form however, fits fairly well. Could altrante Devastator between MP and CHUG.

Hisashi Yuki on twitter just posted a picture that shows off a size comparison of Takara's Unite Warriors Devastator with the recently released United Warriors Superion! In the image you can see that Superion only comes out to Devastator's waist! Check out the image below and keep it locked to Seibertron.com for all your SDCC news and updated coming out today!

I held one of the Constructicons in my hand yesterday. They are freakin' huge!
And imho more like a kid's toy than a collector's figure. Unless you happen to collect really big things, I suppose. :)

Am I the only one who thinks that Devastator being bigger than the other combiners is s cool revamp to his character and makes him seem even more awesome?

In the IDW comics they're still the same size there abouts, definitely not a difference in height like that picture.

You are definitely not the only one, my friend. Devastator is LARGE and IN CHARGE!

Add me to the list of those that likes Devastator much biggen than the rest.

The way I'm having my Combiners displayed is to have Superion vs Menasor and Defensor vs Bruticus. Then on a seperate shelf I'm going to have Devestator embroiled in an epic battle against my Third Party Dinobots.

He's restraining a Decepticon prisoner guarded by Optimus, Blossom, that purple-haired girl, and himself. ;)

Me third or fourth this. Given how the real life construction vehicle reference images posted here in the thread, not surprised as all. Did you guys see how a "Scrapper" type vehicle can fit 20+ people in its shovel doohickey? A fighter plane's cockpit can just fit a maximum of 2 in it's cockpit.

Though really, people so uppity about Dev's size but no one complains about how Megs and Soundwave can "mass shift" in the cartoon?

Its fiction guys. A bit of suspended belief is a given when we got into the Transformer mythos.

Now activating "jerk" mode.........hows about anyone complain about the hollow arms of the limbbots in Superion? Or have I been living under a rock and just missed the complaints?

"Jerk mode" off 8-}

Add me to the list that isn't bothered by Devy's size in relation to the other combiners.
I also agree with your point that scale just can't be that big of a deal for people...
A figure being good in and of itself should completely trump how tall or short it is next to other figures.

I still can't believe that not more people are complaining about the Autobot car figures in this line. Wheeljack imo is by far the best, and actually does compete with the previous version.
I'm glad people are complaining... Just surprised, because those figures are completing underwhelming for me, and I don't feel like I have crazy unrealistic standards.
