I believe the submarine thing you were referring to was the ship from Watchmen. As for The Fallen design. I F***ING LOVE IT. That is the way he should have been and dammit HasTakTom needs to make a figure for him that looks like that. It's beautiful. They also need to make that Scrapper figure and a Hightower. GET ON THE BALL YOU GUYS!!!!

Scrapper is cool.
And, was that Brawn?

The concept for Soundwave is...odd.

The face design is more menacing with a feeling of aggressiveness due to the triangular shape whereas the chosen design for the movie looks like an African shield stuck on the neck of a robot.

Call me crazy, but lookng at The Fallen on there, and you mentioning his angular look made me go back and take a look at him again. And I'm wondering if he wasn't supposed to be a F-117 stealth fighter or something.
Evidence - He has numerics on some of his panels. His thighs have a lot of angled "teethed" panels on them, like you would see on the landing gear doors of stealth aircraft. His crotch area looks like the split apart canopy of a F-117 (pointing down), along with the FLIR (forward looking IR) system mounted on the front of that aircraft. And his feet have small wheels, like aircraft wheels.
Edit-the size feels wrong to me though. I'd imagine him being bigger then a F-117, like B-2 size.

I must be crazy too! My first thought of seeing the concept of The Fallen was "Looks like a flying wing in robot form.". I'd say a B-2 would be roughly the right size but I'm not an airplane expert.

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
And the Fallen did have a transformation, so now the blame for this foul shifts back to the director. So what the hell happened Bay? What.....the.....hell.
I would agree the transformation would have been that of the B-2, though the Stealth fighter and Raptor seem to be roughly the same in terms of mass. And Megatron, Starscream, and the Fallen seem to be equally high...so I would say it could go both ways.
Oh God was that Soundwave? Oh dear, now I'm glad he stayed in space.

Looks like the final battle was much more interesting in the concept stage, judging by what's on the Church site.
And what the hell is that standing on the carrier deck, attacking it on the Nizzi page??

upon further inspection, it looks like the submarine. maybe it was supposed to transform, but instead bay had it destroyed by megs to cut corners....?
.... also on nizzi's page, i noticed that the concepts of the original primes/fallen heads resemble a pharaoh headdress.... see a resemblance?:

Dunno, especially after there are images of what the Fallen would have looked like in his Earth form....the Sub bot is too big for one and a different mode for second.
And I for one would have preferred this to Devastator. Pure and simple. Slap the name Tidalwave on this bot and it's an instant win.
Also, didn't know they had Feng do some takes as well. Feng is an interesting artist, but his concepts are a bit too out there for this franchise. Maybe if it was another franchise all together or just an original concept all it's own. The T-Rex arms in the Fallens neck are just too freaky for a Transformer. Maybe not for an insecticon though.
Church's site is great, he's an awesome environmental artist. I just didn't like his interior art of the Nemesis. Too Geiger (The artist who designed "Aliens"). Still, fantastic though.
