Hisashi Yuki isn't quite done extolling the virtues of Rattrap, it seems, as he's posted more pictures of the upcoming figure and his Legends buddies. We've mirrored those images below:

Windblade looks considerably different and may actually have a way better face, but I've already paid for the Hasbro version, so... yeah. Too late, probably.
I also just noticed Brainstorm's headmaster can turn his head! WHOA. Is that a first for officially-released -Master figures?

It only depend on you. See the pictures, compare, and decide.

I always hear this. extra apps not worth the extra price. If you add extra toppings to your hoagie, don't you expect to pay extra? Same with the Tomy Japan releases. That and extra packaging and of course, it is more expensive in Japan.

Go ahead. Move to Japan and enjoy your liquidity trap.

I think it's better without the extra paint that Takara offers, because it looks more cartoon-accurate, if you're into that.
The only difference as far as I can tell, aside from the weapons and white outline around the symbol, is that the Takara version has red cuffs on its boots; a longer red stripe on the chest and some black in the knees.
Personally, I would have omitted the red cuffs on his sleeves, too.

unfair comparison. it all depends on what kind of collector you are. me, ill own whichever one superior. even small details go a long way to me, and i dont mind paying the extra costs.fenrir72 wrote:I always hear this. extra apps not worth the extra price. end of the day, is it worth it to you?

Exactly.
A collector must collect what HE like. Not what other people like.

Thanks to all that replied, and the side by side picture comparison really helped Cyberpath. I understand your point Kanrabat but I obviously asked the question because I want to hear people's opinions, which in turn will help me make a more informed purchase. Once again, thanks for the inputs.

If you want to be OCD, the paint apps on the Hasbro version (especially on his chest) is more cartoon accurate. Tomy's has those to extended extra red stripes making him more packaging accurate (take a look at the IDW art work in the 30th Jetfire box).
Btw, as I previously mentioned on the complaints about the extra cost, read the Parable of the Merchant and the Pearl. Religious connotations aside, it is apt for us collectors whether the extra price is worth it.
Also, Jetfire is already pre ordered. I'll keep the Hasbro in Jet mode and Tomy in bot mode.
Arcee and the other fembots are next (will be skipping the Hasbro Arcee and Chromia for theses babies!).

Chromia I'm not so sure about since her show-accurate deco makes her comic-accurate body less accurate to the source material.

Is it just the angle or do they all have smiles painted on them?

lol Huh you're right looks like they are all smiling... I wonder if this will be on the toys themselves. I'm sure these images were all photoshopped.

I don't exactly know why, but I agree. Maybe it's because she feels like Thrust's sister...

Thank you! It's not just me then. There's something about the eyes. It looks like her eyes are missing and all we're left with are the shadowy sockets. Add that to the smile and it puts me in mind of this...
At least Takara have made sure none of these fembots are wearing the same shade of lipstick.
I'm really torn as to whether to go for Hasbro's IDW comic accurate Chromia or Takara's G1 animation accurate colours. The all black wheels and painted canopy of Takara's annoys me, but Hasbro's face looks a little vacant and void of life.

The colourschemes are great, specifically Windblade. I understand why Hasbro didnt go with her comic scheme, since it was resembles a bit of Starscream.

Also glad to see them smiling and actually competently posed. They look so cute!

Not sure where you'd get a whip from though. Maybe one of the Queen's Blade Revoltechs has something suitable?

Not sure about the US. But my suggestion is to add to your cart an item that both stores have, or a comparable figure; and compare the shipping fees before clearing it out.Sabrblade wrote:How much is shipping to the U.S. from HLJ compared to say, BBTS?
For me HobbyLink is by far the better choice. Which makes me glad that Takara is usually the one with the better decos.

As a father of two daughters, the idea of a line of "feminine" or "woman" transformers is just amazing... I cant wait to have these displayed along with all the "man"!
Thumbs up to Takara, the colors are perfect, the smiles on their faces is more than appropriate and I would not have it any other way, I love that they have hips, and chests with "breast", just absolutely perfect!
Ordering mine from TFSource, two sets, mint condition, one to display and one to keep mint!

I'm experimenting with HLJ right now... I've never ordered anything from them before, but I recently placed on order with MP Star Saber & Exhaust and Legends Jetfire, Gelshark & Brainstorm. I just added an order with all 3 Takara fembots as well. If the shipping cost is good once these are all in stock come February/March, I'll probably do a lot more business with HLJ in the future. No more $80 MP cars!
(though I still do want the coin & amazon.jp accessories, which HLJ generally doesn't have)

Aside from their confusing search engine (I prefer their old one)they are actually competitive in pricing this past year or so.

Not always the case. Iirc Rhinox and Waspinator Generations/Legends had more toy accurate color apps as compared to the US release.
Cost and target audiences are also underlying factors.
