With the exception of Ratchet, the last few years of their MP and MPM have been duds and turds.

Except that no, they haven't - take a look at MPM Megatron, for instance - and besides that the bootleggers have not proven nearly as prolific with pseudo-MPMs as they have with G1 pseudo-MPs.hausjam wrote:I think Hasbro should stick to Studio Series and Generations, and let the bootleggers handle the masterpiece line.

Now, I personally think this design is unworthy of getting even a One-step much less an MPM and that an MPM of ROTF Jolt would have been a better use of time and money, but that's because I resent Travis Knight's hijacking and will continue to resent it until they Bayverse is given a proper conclusion in some form.

I for one actually really like the looks of MPM 10, with Rachet being my least favorite of the pair.

Wow, I never thought that I would agree with you, but I do. I was really hoping for Bonecrusher or Blackout or Brawl to get an MPM this year. But, just like how SS is a massive disappoint this year, the MPM line will be to.
I am still hoping that this image is fake since it literally came out of nowhere.

But it did have a proper conclusion. It was called Dark of the Moon .
Joking aside, the two movies after that were a mess and didn't even make sense with the prior films' canon. You're going to be hard pressed to find many people who cared about where those films were going.

Furthermore, there's a few 3P figures out already that can take ideas from. Also, this MP got all the time to cook in the oven compared to the rushed Bug-Bee.
Looking forward any official reveals.

Rumors were that the MPMs for this year are 76 Camaro Bumblebee and a rerelease of Barricade, so I guess this could still fit in with the two new molds a year plan.

I acknowledge the flaws in these films, but there are many cool parts within.
Lockdown is a badass and Transformers being outlawed on Earth after the events of Dark of Moon seens a natural progression.
Hot Rod and Cogman are two highlights of The Last Knight for me.

But it would be a nice touch if it was MP-10 trailer compatible.

The matrix was in the 2nd and 3rd movies, but it didn't look like that.
Prime also wouldn't have had it at this point, it was hidden on Earth.

With that being said, I really freaking dig this guy. No, he doesn’t look nearly as good as the other third party offerings, but he looks immensely more fun, he’s gonna be in scale with my other MPM’s, and he’s not gonna cost $300+ dollars. And as for me, I don’t know of a BB Optimus that can claim all 3 of those properly. I’m gonna happily get this guy and give hasbro a pass with giving us another optimus prime in the MPM line IF they choose this year’s MPM decepticon very carefully. We still need blackout, bone rusher and brawl from the first movie and we all know that’s the cast lineup they’ve been attempting to complete since they started this line. If they get distracted now by giving us some m BS Camero BB Movie Bumblebee for the 2nd figure this year, then I’ll be triggered.
But for now, I’m unexpectedly excited.

Hopefully the other MPM we get this year (if we keep the usual release schedule) is an 07 figure. Rumor is it's 76 Camaro Bumblebee, which would be awesome.

They should just start making non-transforming figures. (Oh that's right. They screwed those up too.)

Ironically, in Age of Extinction Optimus did use a Mamon COE before switching the the Western Star alt mode he used for the rest of the Film and in Last Knight, while the Evasion Mode figure based on that design used a Frieghtliner, to draw it closer to G1 Optimus.

Agent 53 wrote:I wrote it on TFW2005, but they got the wrong truck again, in the film, if we assume that the truck on the Golden Gate bridge with Bumblebee really was Optimus, then the truck is a freightliner like G1 Optimus, whereas this figure is based more on a Mamon COE, like the Studio Series figure.

It's possible that they had to use an early design concept that used this truck design. That happens a lot with movie toys in general, not just Transformers movie toys.

Maybe I'm just not a big enough fan of this design to notice the robot mode improvements?
A bit bummed this isn't a duo release like the previous four MPMs, it means the Decepticons will fall behind again. I was sure Bumblebee Optimus Prime was going to be the next Autobot release, but I expected him to come out paired with Bonecrusher or Brawl. Like what they did with Jazz / Megatron and Ratchet / Starscream.
Oh well, as long as the next guy is a Movie 1 Decepticon... Although it'll probably be Bumblebee's old Camaro body from the first movie.

I'm with you on this, the truck looks bad. It has cat ears.Rtron wrote:We'll see when more images come out, but I feel like the truck mode is a serious step down from the Studio Series one, without really improving on the robot mode beyond the extra size and paint that come with a higher price point. I mean, the Studio Series one is practically perfect in truck mode. I understood it with Starscream, because his MPM robot mode is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Studio Series one. But the alt mode downgrade here just seems pointless.

The bot mode look impressive, but that truck is a real mess. It's serious garbage. Especially with the silly cat ears.
I won't preorder this.
Posted by ScottyP on February 26th, 2021 @ 8:34am CST
For this toy, they really embellished the subtle details on his face plate from the movie. I would argue that should have been done via tampo/etc rather than sculpted detail.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Hmmmm, interesting, the robot mode is pretty good, though the head sculpt seems off, but that truck mode is pretty lame compared to other movie primes and even to the SS figure. Not sure what to think about it yet
Someone mentioned earlier that MPM figures feel rushed and I think I agree. Megatron and Starscream felt like they were breaking that trend. This doesn't.

The Matrix is an interesting inclusion, I guess the figure just needed more G1.
That truck mode, though... oof. The front is mostly good, but the back half is a mess and the bunny ears unfortunately look like they're transformed correctly. Really disappointing, especially after the Studio Series figure gave us one of, if not the greatest truck mode of all time. The SS figure also had a much better head design, but I digress.

The studio series truck mode is seriously insane, literally its only fault is the proportions of the back of the truck cab, it even reproduces the weird gappy aspect that truck beds always have.

What are you seeing in the back that I'm not. Most of the vehicle mode is blocked off by weapon storage.

He obviously meant the "legs" part of the truck.
That's a big OOFF, but the cat ears is one hell of a raised middle finger.
If I want a "MP Bee Optimus", I'll go 3P or 3-Zero.

Yeah, I meant the "legs" part. I know it's not uncommon for that part to be a bit of an afterthought, but the downgrade from the SS figure make it really stand out.
Rtron wrote:The studio series truck mode is seriously insane, literally its only fault is the proportions of the back of the truck cab, it even reproduces the weird gappy aspect that truck beds always have.
It's definitely insane. I'm pretty sure the panels on the back of the truck cab (unless you're talking about something else) are supposed to be a "headache rack", which are often put on trucks that tow flatbed trailers to protect the truck from cargo that breaks loose. Prime's original movie design had something similar even though he never tows a flatbed.
I've seriously thought about getting the figure just for the truck mode.
Posted by Rtron on February 27th, 2021 @ 1:06pm CST
As for why it's there, I suspect they put it there despite Prime never towing "loose" cargo (I mean, seriously, I think the only Optimus Prime that ever towed cargo that way in the whole history of Transformers was Pepsi Convoy) because it looks better on film and it's easier to mold in a toy than the wiry, tuby mess that the back of truck cabs usually is.

ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:And complaining about the headache rack being there because of Optimus himself never towing a flatbed is kinda dumb when you consider that has no bearing on what the driver of the real truck he scanned did or didn't haul.
Come on, nobody was complaining, it's just fun to think about, man. Of course the alien robot has no idea what that crude metal sheet the squishies put there is for, but we're thinking about why the people who made the movie might have put that there.
Posted by noctorro on February 28th, 2021 @ 9:45am CST
His face is horrible, the mouthplate, the tiny eyes. I'm happy with my Studio Series tough I wish his lower legs would stay together a bit better.
But this is not for me anyway, I sold my last Masterpieces months ago.
I love most of the other lines.

The problem is that Has/Tak know that the vast VAST majority of collectors are only going to transformer their figures once or twice (especially because of how complex some MP figures are) and then just display them in robot mode forever. So why put effort into something most customers won't care much about?

This toy is based on the how Optimus Prime looks during the much loved Cybertron sequence at the beginning of the Bumblebee movie, while the alt mode is the same as seen in the movies final moments.
As you can see from these images, not only does he come with his trusty ion cannon, but Prime comes with the Matrix of Leadership, rendered in the same style. The Matrix did not appear in the movie.
What do you think? Do you plan on getting him?

Honestly, I'm still going to buy it...but I just don't get it.
Posted by jtanimator on May 15th, 2021 @ 7:43pm CDT
originally I thought he looked great in bot mode, and while his truck mode cat ears suck pretty hard, I'm one of those "well I'm not displaying it in truck mode anyways" people, so its mostly fine.
However admittedly I recently purchased and received Toyworld's Freedom Leader representation of this guy, and after having that fantastic looking toy in hand for a few days, I can't help but notice how inaccurate and less cool this official guy looks in comparison.
Like most others here, I'll certainly still be getting this, but my remaining reasons are because He'll be the only Masterpiece scaled BB Optimus Prime on the market, and also because I have no doubt his transformation will be much more enjoyable than any third party (especially ToyWorld) to date.
