Not really. I think the show was filmed before the day change.

Bingo. This years award show is completely live except for a 3 minute delay to cut swearing.

That's my feeling, too. I mean, with the only real competition being Fantastic Four and Harry Potter, I really thought that Transformers didn't stand a chance. Then again, knowing that Bay, Shia and co. would be there kinda flipped something off in the back of my head.

Most people felt burned by the first F4 and Harry Potter while still insanely popular seems to be losing it's luster. I really doubt that it was "rigged" because if it had been I think at least one of them would have memorized something to say when up on the stage. Transformers was a huge part of the pre show and is going to be one of the largest grossing movies this year. Of course they'd all be there to help promote it.
People voted for it. If you're Joe Average and you're presented with a trailer of a British wizard waving a stick around and then a trailer of two giant robots beating the shit out of each other on a highway, which would you pick?

Of course it was rigged. It's Mtv. The exclusive footage? If you go to the movie awards website they've even got a link to the 'GM Transform Your Ride' contest on the main page. The movie is tailor-made for their primary demographic and the only real sense the category makes at all is if it was created for the purposes of hyping the winning film, which also happens to be the film with the most paid-for ad time.

Yeah, the constant plugging of the Transformers trailers during on MTV and the fact that Transformers seemed to have a lot to do with the show itself seemed like there was really "more than meets the eye" going on behind the scenes.
Of course, Nightwatcher has a very valid point. Which of the nominated movies seems more like MTV's flair anyway? Harry Potter? FF?

MTV and Paramount are divisions of Viacom... just saying.

Someone really needs to put that footage up on YouTube ASAP. I missed out on it.

There's that too.
Anyone who thinks the Mtv Movie Awards are genuinely meant as a means of recognition for filmmakers is seriously mistaken. It's more like a show of Mtv's advertising might. Like "hey, we don't show anything but nauseatingly vapid reality shows anymore, but if you buy ad space we can still steer the 8-15 demographic towards your movies and here are the votes to prove it".

Yeah... It seems less to me like the contest was rigged per se than they brought in a ringer. What else is there this summer that would bring in the MTV crowd? And of that, what has a huge fan lobby that regularly gets told about things like that so they can charge for the poll?

It's Hollywood creating public perception by staging 'reality' and using actors and tons of money including phony 'live votes'. You'll all sleep more soundly at night once you realize this fact. Take the red pill.

No, but I don't go around dismissing ALL reality TV as fake. Look at COPS, it's the original, still the best. And real.
And yeah, MTV really has lost sight of what they used to be. Kurt Cobain is rolling in his grave.

COPS is heavily, heavily edited to be exciting. They don't include footage of people getting pulled over because they're not wearing their seatbelt or sitting around, waiting to get a call. You also don't see them behaving or saying the things they would if they weren't fully aware that everything they say and do is being recorded.
Also, were you even born when Cobain shot himself in the face? Why the hell would he care one way or the other about what Mtv would become? It was already spiraling downhill by the time he did himself in anyhow.

BINGO.
Rigged or not, this is a nice touch and I won't complain a damn bit. If the movie lives up to the hype (and it looks like it just might) then perhaps we'll get respect and stop being laughed at by those who don't understand. All the people in the theater that groan when the trailer comes on, etc. (Screw them btw.)

yeah, mtv has always been a marketing ploy to reach out to the kids who see themselves as outcasts, and when it started being viewed by its original target audience as too "mainstream" they started mtv2 to continue milking the gullible rebellious teen market. the station was created as a farce, and it remains one to this day, even if it's evolved into a new type of farce. honestly, i don't see why anybody would care what movie wins an mtv award, especially one given before the movie even comes out.
however, i do find it funny that a sham award (not to imply that all awards shows aren't shams in some form or another, but this is certainly a particularly transparent one) given a month before the movie premieres will likely be the only one it wins. hell, it doesn't even look like it'll be quite bad enough to snag a razzie.

LOL! AbsumZer0, couldn't have said it better mahself.
I loved Nirvana too, but lost all respect for Kurt for choosing the easy way out. And, admittedly, I was around when MTV was conceived as well as when it converted to RTV (Reality TV) with the Real World (read: Fake Stupid Idiotic World).

Shrek 3, Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3 have all been out in the States for some time. The Simpson's and Harry Potter are about the only competition, and MTV viewers are unlikely to (at least admit to) being fans of the series, and the Simpsons movie has bided its time for advertising.

My spidey senses went off as soon as I heard the Category -
"Best movie you haven't seen yet."
-How in the world do people know its the best if they haven't seen it?

Back to the point, Transformers won, yay! Most of it's competition were sequels, exept Simpsons which is more of a continuation. In fact...
I went to Hoyts last Thursday to see Pie-Crates 3 (that's what we call it) (I actually enjoed it so there). And I saw a little ad on the wall for the 'Big 10'. I thought 'Hmmm' I took a goosey...and two of the ten weren't sequels! One was '13' whatever that is, and the other was the mighty TRANSFORMERS!
So yeh, woopty fackin doo.

AbsumZer0 is right.
Most cops are dirty lying pigs. Esp. traffic cops, they want to make that quota so bad they will say you were doing 56 in a 45 when your speedo reads on 32 when you are accelerating.
How do I know? This happened to me. 3 TIMES.
F*** traffic cops, and f*** Temple, Texas. AVOID IT like Action Masters!
And yes, MTV started to downward spiral during the mid-90s.
VH1 was actually a great alternative to MTV...until Viacom bought it. Now it sucks as well.
Discovery/History/TLC and news all the way now.
