Cost for the set of six G1 commemorative figures that merge to form Piraracon is 59.99. The silver and blue Primus repaint from Takara will sell for 129.99 and is expected in November.

I'm not even a big fan of the Seacons but that set just looks so new and shiney and G1-ey.
I'm gonna be poor forever.

The box at Botcon says yes, the page at BBTS doesn't even mention them.
As for the news itself...I'm angry.
Was $49.99 and now it'll be $68.28 with shipping.
I knew the $50.00 price tag was too good to be true. -_-
For that price, it better have the stands. If I open that box and the set's not complete, I will demand a refund, and not one of their store credits either, I'll go to the BBB if I have to.
I'm that angry.

That's a bit dramatic...
It's not like the little cards in front of the figures are ever accurate in any other regard. The dates are often wrong and the MSRP is a suggested retail price...ask KMart. :/
What concerns me is that Snaptrap's head MAY go unpainted or Overbite may be those incorrect colors.

Okay, wow. The craziness isn't confined to TFW on this. You'd go to the Better Business Bureau for $18.29? They will laugh at you.
Things to consider:
MSRP is a "suggested" retail price. Not THE retail price
It may have been a mistake on the card at Botcon
No one promised it would be $49.99
Don't buy it if it bothers you that much
You know why I'm glad it's an Online Exclusive? The sword will actually be chromed hard plastic and not painted rubber like all the other US releases with swords. Oh no, the little kids might hurt themselves!!!!

I don't have numbers but I remember way back when all of them were boxed instead of carded so I think they're the same size as the Predacons ergo Piranhacon is the same size as Predaking.

I was thinking TRU because of the G1 Commemorative mark in the top right corner. (Except for Sideswipe, Astrotrain, the four-cassette Soundwave, and the upcoming Blaster, figures I feel fall under the 'G1CS' banner are normally TRU.) I'm not complaining though. Even though I'd rather go pick it up from TRU, the big brown truck was my default shipping method, instead of USPS. Not that I mind picking up, it just saves me the trip.

If you remember there was this list of possible upcomming TakaraTomy releases back in January:
- G1 Predaking
- G1 Sixshot
- Classic/Henkei Hound
- Hybrid Style Galaxy Convoy
- Classic/Henkei Optimus Prime
- Encore 12 Metroplex
- Classic/Henkei Cyclonus
- Cybertron/Galaxy Force Primus
I have put the announced ones in bold so you easily see that this list is most likely valid. You can see that Predaking is part of the list. It will most likely be an Encore release along with Sixshot. My fingers are crossed for the Hybrid Style Galaxy Convoy and Cyclonus (even though I have the Hasbro version).

You don't know that. BBTS was given the North American sales rights. Not the worldwide sales.
RobotKingdom in Hong Kong will be shipping it out on July 15th when it goes on sale there.
Nowhere has it been said that the UK wouldn't get this.
Please, people, read.

No. Not even close. Predaking was the largest combiner ever made. Piranicon is no larger than the other combiner releases, such as Superion or Menasor.
The combined form is about a foot tall. Give or take an inch. About the height of ROTF Leader Class Optimus. Or, Leaser Class anything, really.
G1 Bruticus/RID Ruination is the same size as Piranicon (minus the back cannons).

Kapow Toys have it listed for £64.95 ($97), free shipping. Took 20 seconds to find that, its even on their home page. No customs charges. Still, a bit pricey though compared to the prices BBTS are charging their home country.

Gotta say, this is unprecedented, isn't it? A US online store getting an official Hasbro exclusive? I kind of want to congratulate BBTS.
P.S. I have no reason to be outraged because I'm not buying it...no interest. But if I was, I wouldn't mind buying it at BBTS for $60. That's a pretty decent price.

1. BBTS is the exclusive retailer of the Seacons; and
2. They only cost $60 (I think BBTS almost always overprices their items - by a lot).

Examples please. Everyone says how way overpriced BBTS is and how they gouge everybody, but I don't see it. Their prices on imports are usually within 4 cents of TFSource. Their prices on the new deluxes are quite good. as for rare/vintage, they charge what they can get for them. They will lower the price if it doesn't sell. but how much stuff is sold out on their site?

I kinda prefer that. Having dropped $300+ on the set two years ago, I don't mind a little change.
That said, I pre-ordered one and might buy a second one later. The first one's staying sealed just because it's so damn pretty.

You want examples? OK: TFU Countdown, Darkwind, Skyfall - all $50 each.
I don't begrudge BBTS charging a premium for say, Japan-exclusive TFs, but for figures that you can find in local retailers, BBTS is oftentimes a rip off. However, they're not the only online retailers that do that.

Those 3 that you mention are all TRU exlcusives at $29.99 each and not available to other retailers. BBTS would have to pay at least 29.99 plus tax to get them.

All the other reissues have stayed true to original form or improved their cartoon accuracy. I'd hate to see them start attempting to make reissues different from their G1 versions just for the sake of being different after 10 years of reissuing...

As was put to me long ago...those aren't really for US consumption. They are there, but are really opportunities for foreign consumers to buy them at a cost that will be cheaper than many of their other options, even at the increased price.

SDCC Blaster seems to be pretty true to the original. Besides, it's not like Hasbro is going crazy and painting Optimus pink or releasing Soundblaster as Soundwave. Because that's crazy talk, and I won't hear it.
Speaking of which, when is BBTS going to open Blaster pre-orders? I'm an impatient man, and I'd rather not go through shadyguy64 on ebay.
