Is it official or fanmade?

We'll have to wait for more information to see, but BASE XO comes up big again, this time finding a prototype image for a new transforming toy (robot mode only pic). This toy's robot mode closely resembles the Soundwave cassettebots, Rumble and Frenzy, as you can see from the head and chest designs. Unfortunately what Frenzy/Rumble transforms into is yet unknown at this time.

Is this a new Device Label component? Frenzy and Rumble were already made for the music label line, so maybe not. Universe line toy? Or another Impossible Toys winner like their upcoming G1 Arcee?

Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more information when it is made available.

You can see the original thread here at hk-tf.com and the uploaded image below.

i Really hope this is official. . i would love to get my hands on one. my guess is that it will end up in the universe line.

i would say it might be an early prototype for the next show line but i would think its still WAY too early for that.

Will people please stop it with the Masterpiece Soundwave, I have to pick myself up off the floor each time!!

If it is MP SW there will be a lot of people making some odd high pitched squealing noises all over the world.

Hopefully, the mold will be used as a Universe 3.0 two-pack of sorts, packed-in with whomever other character they think of (Detritus/Swindle repaint of Hound with Frenzy/Rumble).) Seriously tho', it's probably a add-on to MP Soundwave. Unfortunately. :(

I HIGHLY doubt it'll be an MP Soundwave, as I've never seen a ball/socket joint on the MP figs.

I'm really hoping this is another indication of Universe 3.0

Prime's neck, Megatron's ankles, Those jet parts hanging of the Seekers' hips to name a few.

But I agree that it's unlikely to be a Masterpiece fig, since hollow legs and solid hands scream Classics. My guess is that it'll be released as a deluxe class toy, with his back guns and piledrivers as included extras.

Looks to me to be a Scout Class figure, the chest is a definite nod if nothing else to the G1 Cassette Twins. I said a while back we should get a MP Soundwave with some scout class cassettes in some of our Hasbro q&a. Maybe they read it, God that would be some kind of awesomesauce smothered figure. Oh well, my hopes are up, i'm with you guys. pleaseletitbemasterpiecesoundwavepleaseletitbemasterpiecesoundwavepleaseletitbemasterpeicesoundwave :CON: :BOOM:

But there is no scale to those images, it could be quite small and ball joints suit small figures. It doesnt look like its a complex transformation which is another reason I think its small and could therefore be an accessory figure.

Ahh MAN! I'm just starting to bend on the music label SW. My first instinct is 3rd party, but what if I'm wrong? Do I give in and get it the little SW or hold off just in case Hasbro truly loves us?
Re: New G1-styled Frenzy / Rumble Prototype Toy (1016810)

Looks to like he transforms exactly like his G1 counterpart. Which means he's a cassette. I'd say this is some sort of 3rd party prototype because it looks too "Geewun" to be Hasbros. But then again, the 3rd party companies usually announce their stuff. Could it be a Classics 3.0 figure? Perhaps we'll get another 2-pack like Hound and Ravage. But who could he be packaged with?

Damn nice colours!

That's one sexy prototype right there. I'm not any kind of expert at guessing these things, but the arm/foot ball joints look quite large comparatively, so I thing this will be quite a small figure. Maybe it will be packaged with a Hound repaint for Universe 3.0.

Either way, I want it!

If they follow suit with the other Hasbro properties (assuming it is a Hasbro product at all) they could do these in the 2-pack + comic book format like they do for Star Wars, GI Joe and Marvel.

That would be a cool way to have smaller scale (and simple transform) figures from earlier lines in Universe. Cassette bots (natch) mini-bots etc. Something between legends and scout size.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Rumble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's my favorite character out of g1, the little not to bright chump macho can hardly win a fight with a human Decepticon!
Yess, I hope it's Hasbro's, then we will see it released widely with a few repaints and for normal prices.
I'll be getting even if it's some 3rd party construct. He is so totally cool!

ps. what does FAP mean? I know I live under a rock and all,

This clearly is the new classics Soundwave we've been promised in that TFCC magazine interview from a while back. :P

I think it's sweet and I hope it gets packed and sold in a twopack as Rumble and Frenzy but with no indication of which is which.

That's cool news. Couldn't afford to stay a TFCC member (it's prohibitively expensive for international peeps) so I missed that juicy bit of info.

As far as Hasbro are concerned, don't they always go with FIBRIR? That was how they originally sold them anyway, and Rumble was the Red alternator car, and the robot hero was red and I'm sure there's a few more examples. Or are you just hoping for no indication so it gives us fans something to argue over :P

It'd be cool if they did a 2 pack but with say Frenzy and Laserbeak in one and Rumble and Buzzsaw in another. *fingers crossed*

And here I was all set to order a Music Label Soundwave for my collection...

I'm going to be PO'd if this is third-party. As much as I like and support some 3P products, products that are original molds, it would be nice to see this be a Classics 3.0 product. I can only imagine how sweet the Takara version would be.

If this is a HasTak piece, I wonder if we would see the two tapes in a two pack like Hasbro sells Jawas and Battle Droids in the SW figure line-packaged and sold as two deluxes.

Can't wait to see more.
Re: New G1-styled Frenzy / Rumble Prototype Toy (1016846)
Posted by --B-- on November 4th, 2009 @ 12:02pm CST
Assuming it is a Universe/Classics, which it strongly reminds me of, with the classics seeker type hands, it's a smart mold for hasbro to make, as they get 2 uses right away, and 2 more with a new head, giving us Rumble, Frenzy, Rewind and Eject.

I kinda hope it is scout classed, so it goes with real gear Laserbeak and device label ravage.

Either way, it is way to big to be the same size as the Universe Ravage that came with Hound, too thick, so I would be shocked if this mold ever came packaged with a deluxe for the deluxe price point.

With another scout size is even asking too much for the deluxe price point.

Oh please let it be a Universe 3.0 legends...

If so, I can see Hasbro releasing it in blue with a black chest, and Takara doing it in pale purple with blue upper arms and legs... ...I hope so anyway. For Rumble... um, the blue one.

this tells me 2 things.
1) defiantely not movie line. almost definately in universe (too early for the next show line)
2) Size. its about the size of a deluxe or maybe a large (quite large) scout.

DUDE, if I get my hopes up and they are smashed... XD

Well, for some reason I get the feeling it's a 3rd party effort. It's very well articulated for a figure appearing to be so small. Not quite getting the transformation scheme, I suppose it could change into a tape shape, but it looks too chunky to fit into G1 Soundwave. I actually really hope it's not 3rd party. They're always so expensive.

Aside from any sort of MP figure, I really hope it's from Universe 3.0, and perhaps a harbinger of an actual classics Soundwave. But then what will I do with my Music Label version?

It looks too professional (IMO) to be 3rd party.

However, it doesn't seem like it would be Hasbro's cup of tea, considering we don't have a Soundwave to go with it.

This one is perplexing.

I was kinda thinking that it looked like the little robot sitting in front of the shadow commander armor on the art fansproject had with all three commander armors, so maybe it is something the folks at FP are cooking up? I am at a family members house and dont have the pic with me or I would throw it up.

Too early? What?

Do you know the amount of time that it takes from the grey repaint to the finished product? We saw Human Alliance Mudflap with Simmons and Chromia way back in July at San Diego Comic Con, and it's been 5 months and we still haven't seen freaking Hasbro retail pictures of the figure. Universe is set for Fall 2010. The timing of this is absolutely perfect.

I'm gonna be the naysayer here and suggest that it's not official. Reasoning's simple on this one. Hasbro's prototypes aren't white. The rough prototypes are always in grey, and the plastic cast test prototypes are always in bright, varying colours (red, for instance, like Voyager Bulkhead) whereas third party prototypes are often cast in white like this. I'm going with unofficial. I'll be more than happy if I'm wrong on this one, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Doing a search of leaked prototypes over the last couple years, I have to grudgingly agree with you. I've only found a single exception, where a white prototype was found, instead of a grey one.

Well, I measured the holes, and the relative size of the figure. If they are 5mm holes, it puts him at about 9cm tall, which is way too small for a deluxe and is about a centimeter bigger than legends Warpath. So a big legends or a scout I reckon.

This looks very much like Energon-era designs, so I guess that could support the idea that it's fake. And I can't even begin to figure out a transformation from this image.

But if this is in fact a real item, then I'm guessing it is Hasbro, rather than third party. As for size, I reckon it's no bigger than Scout-class, perhaps even Legends.

I can't keep from hoping that this could possibly mean Classics Soundwave! :APPLAUSE:

I hate to say it but the more I thought about this last night, the more I'm leaning towards 3P. It just doesn't seem to fit the classic HasTak style of prototype photos and this talk about the plastic color take that one step further. Still hoping it's official though.
