Where the tampo'd symbol is is where G1 Megatron's chest symbol has always been. They just shaped the torso on this toy awkwardly to warp the proportions of the G1 chest design into making the main part of the chest smaller and the typically insignificant part directly above it much bigger.Noideaforaname wrote:The insignia thing is weird and annoying, not because I'm against Autobot Megatron, but because they included a sticker for even though they painted that on, and they painted that right below where I'd prefer the insignia and on top of silver paint so I can't just wipe it off.
It really is a weird design choice considering that even the comics don't have the chest drawn like that.

Ah, I see it now. It IS pretty bizarre, especially compared to the screencap BERSEKAEL posted.

It's like the designers gave up by the time they reached them and said "Eh.....two big chunks of plastic are foot-like enough. Let's go get a beer!"
Don't let those feet deter you. They're one of the cooler parts of his transformation, actually. Just think of how much better even those feet are compared to OG Megs.

⇧ My plans for this figure, basically.
Wish the tank barrel didn't stick out of his fusion-cannon like that though.
⇧ Not even in a million years.

I love this shot. Though it's just meant to be between the first Generations Autobot Leader class toy and the first Generations Decepticon Leader class toy, it happens to align with the old European pack-in comic from Milton Bradley that had Jetfire as the Autobot leader instead of Prime:
All hail Megatron's manly chest hairs!

Great figure even if his poseability is limited, but he s a good compliment to masterpiece prime until I can set aside a few bucks for Apolyon.

Didn't open up the chest compartment to show his spark chamber for this pic? I am disappointed!

This is the G1 deco of Combiner Wars Leader Class Megatron inspired by his G1 animation model. You can also check out the retooled Armada version as well. As always, click the images below to see the full galleries.
I like everything about this figure except for the red connectors that are used for the arms. There much too lanky.
All these Megatrons carry on a tradition of having a strange looking crotch design. This new Emperor of Destruction is sporting an odd red knob.

Similarly, the last addition from Wave 2 to the Aerialbots, Air Raid, can finally become a limb for Silverbolt's torso mode, and together with Alpha Bravo, Skydive and Firefly, plus Legends Powerglide, become Cybertron's (and Starscream's?) main defence. Click on any image below to view the full galleries, updated and reframed, and now including even more comparison shots with previous versions of the characters from G1!

Ultra Prime and Menasor, however, do not have the innovative luxuries that went into the design Superion's torso, as they both instead go the classic G1 toy route of having Optimus and Motormaster remain upright and have their lower legs become the combiner's thighs their arms form part of the combiner's upper chest. This results in a torso that has HUGE thighs formed by big chunky lower legs, a very WIDE upper chest with quite a distance between its shoulders, and the waist (piece) being directly under the chest instead of being further under it, making both Menasor and Ultra Prime have incredibly SQUAT torsos overall with no bellies.

Sabrblade wrote:The main problems with both Menasor and Ultra Prime in comparison to Superion are the proportions of their torsos. Superion's torso used the brilliant move of turning Silverbolt upside-down to make Silverbolt's arms become Superion's thighs, and Silverbolt's legs form the upper torso. This made for a much better-proportioned torso overall with Superion's thighs being reasonably small but not too small and his upper chest being adequately shaped without being too bulky. And above all, Superion's waist is a good distance below his chest thanks to Superion's torso being (for lack of a better tern) tall enough.

Menasor's and Ultra Prime's main problem lays in not being able to ecstatically extend the upper body. Superion achieves this by merging the legs with Silverbolt's body, but Menasor has no such luxury.

MR Optimus Prime wrote:Superion looks pretty awesome, but my favorite combiner of all time Menasor, looks so dreadful to me. It doesn't have a body.
So true, this is a very disappointing figure/combiner. The proportions are just too off to look good. The upside is that the individual vehicles modes aren't too bad looking.

Offroad, on the other hand, looks well proportioned, solid, and I simply love face sculpt. Plus, the hood behind his head adds a good deal of character. The non-G1 team members are 2 for 2 so far.

Also, so long as Megatron truly shows to have changed, I'm going to put those Autobot symbols on him. I like Autobot Megatron a lot. Roberts has done a great job with him.
