In addition, check out fellow Seibetron.com user chuckdawg1999's discovery regarding Dragstrip's spoiler and a tip about getting that leg mode to snugly fit like a warm, fuzzy Deceptisock - for some Scramble City re-enactment! It's right over here.

Silverbolt and Superion, on the other hand, are not unimpressive. Strangely, the 1 I want now is that TFU Silverbolt...

The big badass gun that comes with Silvrebolt looks great on Superion, but lol @ the toothpick in the Drag Strip hand though.

Are takin' their shot
Double pulse blast the Combaticons!
They can all ch-ch-change
To be rearranged
To form a super robot: Superion!

I second that. With Turbomaster repaints to boot
That would be like...double good.
I don't have proper words for the kind of goodness that would be.
In my blackened heart though...I fear Botcon will do it.
Remember when we could get cool stuff like that from Target or Walmart as a Black Friday special?

Like the yellow RiD Landfill? I believe that's the only special repaint we got for that day, the rest were all special repacks.

My expectation out of the Combiner Wars toys? Dinobots as a combiner finally. It's not something I want at all, but I think there's oddly a lot of fan demand for it. If we get a Predaking to battle "Dinoking" (or whatever they end up calling the combined Dinobots), I guess that'd be pretty cool.
Anyone else hoping they can take the Combiners Wars concept in a different direction and give us an updated Skylynx (he's a combiner of sorts) or Omega Supreme (parts combiner).

You know, I've wanted to see that concept in reality for a while. I'm a staunch supporter of the G1 Dinobots (especially comic Grimlock) and 1 of the things I always thought special about them was the fact that they were a team that didn't combine. However, just thinking about it, how menacing would a combiner made of Dinobots be? It would certainly be a match for Predaking, perhaps even more.Seibertron wrote:My expectation out of the Combiner Wars toys? Dinobots as a combiner finally. Gonna have to go against you on this 1. Those were 2 characters and toys that I always thought were the lowest in G1. I never had the Sky Lynx toy, but the character in both the cartoon and comics was annoying. Omega's character in the comics was passable, but in the cartoon he was almost pointless, and the toy was just dumb. I understand what they were trying to do, but IMO it failed miserably. It was not appealing to me at all. But, that's just 1 little kid's opinion.Anyone else hoping they can take the Combiners Wars concept in a different direction and give us an updated Skylynx (he's a combiner of sorts) or Omega Supreme (parts combiner).

I should certainly hope so for a toy that costs 5.5 times as much ($85 versus $450)! A Lamborghini is a much nicer car than a Corvette as well, but the Corvette is still pretty damn nice.

Is it some sort of expectation that once a team combines, the gestalt becomes a much less intelligent being?Sabrblade wrote:"Menacing" is putting it mildly:Rodimus Prime wrote:However, just thinking about it, how menacing would a combiner made of Dinobots be?

The combined robots brain is made up of 5 minds that don't 'gel' all that well and it causes confliction which reduces the overall intelligence. At least that's how I see it...Rodimus Prime wrote:Is it some sort of expectation that once a team combines, the gestalt becomes a much less intelligent being?Sabrblade wrote:"Menacing" is putting it mildly:Rodimus Prime wrote:However, just thinking about it, how menacing would a combiner made of Dinobots be?

And I have him! Still need to do the combi transformation.
I love the line, best overall TF line so far imho.
Megatron is still underway
Are there any pictures of combiners other than Menasor/Superion? I read a lot of names, but those are only rumors right?

At the original prices plus the upgrades Uranus cost me close to $600. Hasbro is improving with each combiner but they really need to work on the monkey arms. And that flop coptor was an insult to fans. You cant tell me the coptor wasn't done on purpose as a "marketing decision". Do you support the coptor decision ? I know you wont buy it but how do you feel about the upcoming 3rd party slingshot ? Would you agree that sometimes hasbro can be their own worst enemy in that regards ?

I disagree.
Obviously.
I think the Alpha Bravo dude wasn't a bad choice. If it was a jet and called Slingshot I'd be just as happy. And four jets who kind of look the same, I understand Hasbro's point of view.
I'm not bothered by monkey arms, but I can understand some people are.
I'll look for some comparison shots with Superion next to Uranus in combiner form.
But I always am in favor of Hasbro/Takara (a.k.a. real Transformers) bots than third party stuff.
But I do own Hercules, because they look good, great scale and solid bots.
Don't know if I'll keep him, have to wait for the Combiner Wars Devastator.
I have way to many robots for a small appartment and keep op buying -_-

I know you don’t mind the monkey arms lol.
As far as the helicopter choice, it just seems silly. From a fiction point of view, how is he supposed to keep up with his teammates? The thing that pisses me off is that Hasbro’s corporate guys just assume they can reads kids minds. It’s not like they put out a survey for kids to vote if they want a copter or a G1 slingshot. Hasbro just says “hey kids, were the toy experts and this is what you should like”.

By that you mean "official" Hasbro-sanctioned Transformers, right? Because 3rd party companies have some superior products, especially combiners, out there right now. If Hasbro put as much thought into engineering their products as some of there 3rd party places do, I'd be buying a lot more TFs. But the 3rd party selections are limited, due to pricing, and the quality and design of the "official" figures is inferior for the same reason. For me, it all comes down to quality over quantity. I think 3rd party stuff is for collectors, whereas "official" Hasbro stuff, other than the MP line, is for younger consumers. After all, Hasbro is a toy company.noctorro wrote:I always am in favor of Hasbro/Takara (a.k.a. real Transformers) bots than third party stuff.

I think the Transformers brand is starting to reach its final stages.

I dont know about gone for good, but I can see it going dormant in a few years and then making a comeback a decade later. We saw the same thing with ninja turtles and GI Joe.

I was thinking about this too, but Hasbro, most likely, would not own the brand anymore.
Posted by Rodimus Prime on December 25th, 2014 @ 10:13pm CST
Why wouldn't they? Even if they didn't put out anything new, it would take at least a few years to clear all the shelves of all the stores of the current TF merchandise. Besides, as long as they keep making the live action movies, as they plan to, there will be new movie figures, at least, coming out for the next 5 years. If Hasbro for some reason decides to commit seppuku after that, and shut down TFs, they could still get the royalties of whatever remains in the stores. And by the time those clear out, it would be time to bring a new line around anyway. Since Transformers have been around, they have never taken more than a 2-year break, if that. There's always something new around the corner.OptimalOptimus2 wrote:Rated X wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:I bet people thought that back in '95 as well, as G2 concluded. I really like Alpha Bravo, I bought this guy first before any of the others just because he was different and because I was expection to be disapointed by him and wanted to get the negativity out of the way early, I was very surprised by him, OK hes a helicopter but it really doesnt bother me, he's still an aircraft afterall. Also his deco is a very close homage to Slingshot. The only this that bothers me about him is the way the rotor blades flap arond in bot and limb mode, if they could tab away he would be perfect.

You right Hasbro have made him a copter for their own reasons, I am very sure that mold will be used for Blades, Vortex and maybe even Blast Off, but I still think its a good figure non the less.

Still on the fence with Prime, but I'll probably end up getting either a repaint (We can haz Thunderclash?) or his mold-mate Motormaster.

This made me went to my collection and review the Actionmasters - they are actually not too bad - it was an attempt to "G.I.Joe-fy"/M.A.S.K.-fy the Transformers, which is something I would commend Hasbro in trying something new and "dangerous". Sure, they weren't great or even sane. for that matter, but it was an attempt in doing something different.
This Combiner Wars Optimus is exactly the opposite of that spirit - this is Hasbro's way of playing it safe and secure their bottom line by exploiting the willingness of Optimus Prime worshippers to buy anything that resembles their idol when there is a rich history and universe of Transformers characters they could had easily use, or create a new character altogether to add to that rich history and universe.
Then again, that would make sense - we can't expect Hasbro to be brilliant all the time.

Nope. Combiner Wars is worse than the Action Masters. By the way, Action Master Elites are still, Action Masters.
