The latter. CW Brawl was a dinky little thing, this Impactor is practically Voyager-sized, even taller than Ironhide.o.supreme wrote:Am I seeing similarities with CW Brawl in Impactor? , or is it just my imagination...

I think it's just the hollowed out tread legs that gives the impression of similarity.

Mirages alt mode is a lot worse than it appears in the image, the spoiler reminds me of an old 80's robot car that had its legs sticking straight up despite how flat/plain Mirage looks. I do like his bot mode and will probably pick one up on sale but repaints are going to be hard to justify the price for a figure that essentially only has a robot mode for me.

What, you don't want an oversized version of this?blackeyedprime wrote:Picking up impactor tho the autobot sybmbols in kind of a weird place and will be awkward looking when replaced with a sticker to keep all the autobot symbols red. Fingers crossed Hasbro doesnt just use a repaint for warpath.

Hehehe. Yes, yes they do. And the 5mm ports on the towers make nice places to put Battlemasters, that's where I have Blowpipe and Aimless for now.

I never saw an engine block look like that on a racecar, there is usually a bunch of space under the spoiler.

He's a Cybertronian car. That's all you need to know to justify how he looks.

Maybe on Cybertron that ain't the case.

Well to be fair, aerodynamics don't seem to matter much on Cybertron. I think it's a good idea as far as transformation goes and implemented as well as that price point could allow. The spoiler bits do look cool on his shoulders though. I wonder if a few more moving parts could have put the arms behind or under the altmode with the spoiler clean and free on top?william-james88 wrote:I never saw an engine block look like that on a racecar, there is usually a bunch of space under the spoiler.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:blackeyedprime, take into account that Mirage's forearms are supposed to be his engine block. From what I can tell, the legs form the whole front and middle (the spoiler folds into the legs), the chest forms the back end (Starscream style), and the lower arms form the engine block. The back spoiler also sits rather high for it to normally be effective... kinda like Energon Prowl:

Impactor also looks good, all things considered. He’s got some good proportions. I do wish he had been a Voyager class though. Apart from his size, the bot mode looks fine. His alt mode, while having a unique and appealing look, does appear to be a little on the skinny side, which is a little off putting. I’d just expect a tank-like alt mode to have a little more bulk. So I guess my only complaints are size and volume related.
I’ll be picking them both up. Hopefully I’ll see them on the shelf. Otherwise they’ll be yet another online purchase. I feel like my mailman must be getting sick of brown boxes by now.

Nope, but in some kind of mad thinking/reorganising the vehicle mode in a way the toy will not allow for -if the forearm pieces could move back and the the spoiler/mess could be lowered down so that the shoulder parts were behind the rear wheels Mirages alt might work for me (spoiler may end up being too low). Plus as an unneeded bonus to that lay out, the space created may allow for a titan master to fit in a seat.

Seems like for-hire delivery is becoming more and more popular, after Uber and Lyft revolutionized the Taxi service, and similar services started delivering food, NOW I see Amazon trucks everywhere, in addition to independent drivers. I tell you, if I ever get laid off again, that's probably one of the first places I'll go to look for work. I get something almost once a week from Amazon now, and rarely do I ever see the same driver.

I'm probably looking at it wrong but it seems the back wheels are inside the back of the torso and the arms would fold over the check, but that seems like it would put the spoiler facing the wrong way and the wrist cuff engine scoop inside out as well. You can see the front wheels and front spoiler inside the legs, but where does the white nose cone come from? The front spoiler doesn't move it looks like: rather, the legs twist 90 degrees and the transparent blue cover with the feet attached is hinged up or down. Also, I said "Starscream-style", as in the chest becomes the back. I believe there's a hinge inside to flip it upward.

See the above few posts. All mostly makes sense now. The arms fold back and there is a lot of movement in the torso. The blue part of the legs always made sense to me, but I couldn't wrap my head around the rest.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:The front spoiler doesn't move it looks like: rather, the legs twist 90 degrees and the transparent blue cover with the feet attached is hinged up or down. Sounds like it’d be steady enough work. I think that, for the most part, I see the same three Amazon drivers? But there’s been some one-offs.

But then again his big ugly mug seems to remind me of an '80 action hero like Ahnuld or Stallone so that works well for him. His colors seem a pretty mixed bag and never look the same in pictures so I'll have to wait and see how it looks in hand.
Anybody else want to see him retooled into Demolishor, btw?
...now I want to hear Impactor played by Stallone. Also I've been campaigning for an Demolishor retool of Impactor since before we even saw the figure, so I'm with you there.
Wave 3 has officially hit my area in almost full capacity, saw all of Wave 3 except Caliburst and the Micromasters last night at my Target (and some shelfwarming Chromias). Grabbed Refraktor and Smashdown, satisfied with both of them. I hadn't bought any Battlemasters before now, but I couldn't resist the dumb fun that is Minotaur Hammer, and I'm glad I got him. My only complaint about either figure is that I don't like Refraktor's shoulders in terms of posing, the "shoulder' joint is lower than the actual shoulder and the only way the shoulders themselves move is via the transformation joint. I wish they could move in a more natural manner.

And before anybody flips out about the translucent plastic and it's sorted history. The number of surviving clear plastic toys from the 90's I have in my collection far outweighs the broken ones. Just keep that history in mind, and play nicely.

Regarding Classics Mirage vs. SIEGE Mirage, I would say that Classics Mirage is actually more GEEWUN - the bits all end up in the same places and he transforms very similarly to the original toy. SIEGE Mirage is back-to-front, comparitively and has a faux-parts chest. But he does have a better-proportioned head and more accessories. In fact, he's got the complete set.

What I think Mirage "Needs" is a tad bit more length in his vehicle mode, he looks blocky and bunched up, which os why I still prefer the classics Vehicle Mode. I think even of thet coulda done something so that the spoiler could slide straight back off the arms so its more akin to a Dragster Spoiler he might have sold that blocky look better than trying to be an F1. And if that's the goal for people is the alt mode, CW gave us a GREAT Mirage.
But me, whats winning me over is the Robot Mode. I love the proportions on him, and the arm spoiler represebting the side panel of the G1 figure's arm is brilliant. And most important, he has that Missile Launcher we all remember his artwork having
Edit: and for the record, his arms arent supposed to be the "Engine Block", its the air intake scoop that is normally jist abpve the driver's head. Which is also isually ahead of the Spoiler, not jammed under it.

Mirage looks great! Impactor still looks derpy. I don't think Hasbro knew who was the driving character in that pole. I love the clear plastic on Mirage too, and the transformation looks fun and new!
Also, some new arrivals came tonight. I now have 3 completed Con Targetmasters and a Smashdown shenanigans Squad!

Bucky wrote:Impactor also looks good, all things considered. He’s got some good proportions. I do wish he had been a Voyager class though.
It was mentioned earlier by Sabrblade, but Impactor looks to be one of the "larger" Deluxe Class figures, a la Ironhide and the upcoming Ratchet. In fact, Impactor may be even bigger (in terms of height, at least) than those two. So, although he won't be truly Voyager Class sized, he'll be VERY close, much closer than say Prowl or Sideswipe, for instance.

The robot mode always wins out over the alt mode for me when there has to be a compromise. Mirage is no different in this case. He's the better proportioned figure and has more of the screen accurate details I like in my Transformers figures. Plus, he's actually compatible with contemporary Generations toys with 5mm holes and pegs.
By the way, that back view of Siege Mirage is IMPRESSIVE. No hollowness to be found. Everything has a place to go, and there is no bulky backpack either! The most that sticks out is half of each of the rear wheels, and that only adds to the silhouette instead of detracting from it, IMO. Bravo!
Writing off the back end of the alt mode as "Cybertronian" is helpful too. I can see how the upper arms are forming an air intake, so that doesn't bother me. It's really only the lower arms that are causing an issue, sitting directly under the spoiler.
As for the use of faux parts, it's awesome when they're not needed, but Hasbro and Takara have been using them pretty judiciously of late. Take the "faux chest" on Masterpiece Sunstreaker, for example. I'm glad they went that route, because the robot mode looks so much better for it. I believe we'll see something similar with an eventual Masterpiece Mirage to get his "kibble" proportioned correctly in robot mode.

When it comes to Mirage, I don't see faux-parts being necessary to give an MP version of him good proportions that match the cartoon. Classics Mirage's odd proportions stem from his turning into a modern-day F1.

I was lucky enough to find all but 1 reflector and my Battlemasters from wave 3 in stores! Pulse provided the final Reflector and Amazon the Battlemasters. And you can't just have 1 Smashdown, it is impossible!
Now to wait out Omega, Impactor, Mirage, Barricade, Offroad Patrol, and the exclusive/selects Siege guys!
