I don't quite get companies making Transformer toys, that are not in any way shape or form, a TRANSFORMER.
If this thing had a robot mode that rivaled the detail of the plane, I'd be all over it. But for the plane alone...I could buy a model kit of an F-22 and make it as detailed as I wanted to for probably a lot less...

One of each, please! ^^

because some people would actually like completely accurate representations of certain modes of characters.
transformers is a brand name.. that doesn't mean that every single product needs to transform. plus, what is it hurting.. nothing. if at least one person wants one of these, then you should get the point. and so far, there are two of us. .. i'm sure there is a bunch more.
not everyone wants to buy a model kit, buy paint, and spend hours painting it while looking at reference photos for accuracy. sorry.
i really want the tattooed version. i think it looks incredible. and i think it's really cool that the bumblebee camaro comes with it.

Transformers IS a brand name. A brand name that is based on transforming robots.
Whenever Hasbro or an affiliated company releases a non-transforming toy series based on this brand, it always feels like a cheap money grab.
Yeah some small subset of TF fans might want some movie-accurate non-transforming toys, but judging by the tons of non-transforming Transformers that still clog up the shelves at my local Walmart, Toys R Us and which have started moving into the local dollar stores I am obviously not the only one who feels this way.

you must realize that this isn't some garbage hasbro revving robot.. or whatever the hell they're called for little kids. these are high quality model kits. for collectors. it's a little ridiculous to even compare these things with what we see in our retail stores.
a small subset? is that why it's practically impossible to find dmk prime for retail price? .. they're pretty much sold out in most places.
this starscream isn't just some crappy hotwheels style toy.
there is a market for these things. dmk prime was a huge hit. so you should understand the point of these at this point in the discussion. there's a point because people want them. they're nice collectible items.

It's what I've been saying for a while now; not every Transformer (brand) product has to transform (hence, Hasbro-wise; Robot Replicas, RPMs/Speed Stars, Stealth Force (to a degree), etc)
Yeah, I may just be repeating now...!

I already have LC Starscream, but the alt mode isn't as good as I'd like it to be. Not complaining here, just that I'd prefer him in bot mode.
That said, the 1/144 scale is kind of a deal breaker. Can anyone provide an estimate of the jet's size, say, relative to an ROTF voyager Starscream or DOTM deluxe SS fig?

Well, a real F-22 is 18.9m in length and the ROTF Voyager is 21cm long in vehicle mode, giving *that* a scale of exactly 1:90. Hope this helps! ^^
EDIT: Just did more maths (yay!) and worked out that this new Starscream is 13.1cm long! *That* amount of detail on a Raptor that small...! O.o

Thanks, Swiftknife! Not exactly a large figure, but it should fit nicely on my desk.

You're welcome! ^^ I regularly calculate the figure scales based on the vehicles; it's a hobby-habit!
