Hound and Trailbreaker I like. Admittedly I'll be getting them as custom fodder most likely (Hound into RID Rollbar and Trailbreaker into RID2015 Strongarm) but regardless, they look great. And Trailbreaker's handfootgun looks excellent! I'm really liking the 2-fingered clamp look they went with.

I'm guessing that hand/foot is supposed to pop into Trailbreaker's backpack with the fingers out to give that classic Trailcutter look. I've seen in another picture where the thumb appears to fold completely flat.Delta Magnus wrote:And Trailbreaker's handfootgun looks excellent! KO, of a 3p you say? I'm OK with that if the quality is there.
The quality is confirmed to be there. The only difference is that the ko version of superions feet has painted gattling guns.SillySpringer wrote:I hate KO

Nah. Whilst the legality of 3P stuff can be brought into question due to the finicky nature of IP, they are actually doing the engineering and design work themselves- they aren't just cloning HasTak's molds or anything, and all their work is from a tangible point of view original. KO makers on the other hand literally just clone other people's hard work without putting in any original work themselves and profit off of actual, undeniable theft.
Again, I HATE KO!!!! If anyone hates KO I am the guy who wants all KOs to burn in hell. Nuff said.

The only thing that I hate is the ugly slotted/box-grater plastic of his wing undersides, they really need to STOP doing that garbage!
I must state that though I detest Hasbro's profuse/repetitive overuse of molds in this line, and the horrible implementation of hollow/slotted plastics, that the overall head/face-sculpts for these figures have been absolutely spot-on beautiful for nearly every figure. I own the CW Protectobots, Stunticons, and Constructicons, Ultra Magnus, Optimus, etc. and all of these have great, G1 cartoon or comic accurate faces/heads. The only one I have reservations about is Dragstrip with his jagged evil-scarecrow mouth and stubby "ears" and MotorMaster' s un-painted eye-holes.
Otherwise, the Combiner Wars and the Generations line before it have had the most beautifully rendered G1 accurate faces I have seen (outside the Masterpiece line. of course).

Well, you may want to reconsider this hobby then, 'cause I doubt it'll ever get any better

To be honest, I really like those slots. They aren't visible in shuttle mode (since they face down) while in the other modes they give the wings a more articulated look, as if they can actually flex, bend, and flap.
Sure, they could have made the wings solid with sculpted detail, but it wouldn't look as dynamic. Also, do you know what sculpted detail looks like on white plastic?
Wheeljack.

Agreed, especially since they allow the blue plastic to be visible, makes it look nice, as well as dynamic, and really seems to break up the deco
Also, wheeljack looks terrible

I never said it was the same thing, I just meant 2 things:
1. There is no honour amongst thieves
2. KOs can be just as handy for a collection. G1s are either expensive or usually found without accessories. So for my incomplete G1 combiners, I use the hands, feet and guns of KOs to complete them:
Gives a new definition to it costing an arm and a leg

If you're okay living with the knowledge that what you have in your collection is a fake, then by all means, be handy, take the easy route.
But me? I take pride in my collection, I want the real thing. If that means I have to wait and hunt longer, then so be it.

Dude, read between the lines...
Don't you see the double standard ? When I bring up KO's I get the sermon about going "off topic". When someone else brings up KO's the mods join in on the debate.
Don't worry, I wont be putting Sky Reign in the toilet. I like the Sky Lynx figure as a stand alone piece. I have no plans on ever using him as a torso. Hopefully 3rd parties come up with an upgrade to make him split in two halves. And Id be totally down for a KO Upsized Sky Lynx in Leader scale.

Ah, now I see. Anyway, I'm not sure its possible to split the figure into two halves and have complete forms, even with disassembly. And yeah, a Leader-scale Sky Lynx would be cool. Or better yet, a Masterpiece Sky Lynx.

They should have made Red Alert from that mold instead of Smokescreen. And why isn't Trailbreaker shown complete with his remodeled weapon thing behind his head? We've seen everything else pictured here before.

Ultimately, I think I will probably just leave Superion the way he is and figure out something else for a limb. I would be very happy if they did a repaint of Brawl as Warpath, but that isn't going to happen. I can probably suffer through Smokescreen being the fourth version of that mold.
I think once I get Onslaught I am going to pick his G1 rifle up on eBay to give to Bruticus and attach to his turret in vehicle mode. I don't really like giving him Shockwave, as I really think Shockwave should have been designed to work with Leader Megatron. I REALLY should not have passed up on Viper when I found him months ago. He would be the perfect weapon for Bruticus. Military vehicle alternate mode, check. Turns into a weapon, check. And now I can't find the little bugger. Bruticus doesn't need a Legends figure anyway, he is just that awesome.

Yeah. While I do favor the Autobots in general, there needs to be a balance of the two. In CW, there are 5 comfirmed combiners and 2 confirmed combiners (not counting UW and FunPub). That's not a good balance.

Well we know there is both a seeker head and a conehead head out there (safe assumption both owned by hasbro) so there is a certain potential of extra seeker limbs. It's easy money but I don't know if it would go down well with the fans who are kind of sick of repaints.

I'd much rather (by, like 1000000%) get decepti-seeker-limbs than no decepti-limbs at all
And what really gets me is that, I wanted a G2 Sandstorm seeker figure, but I wasn't sure if they could get a conehead into the fig - but, now I know that's not the case, and I'm actually really pissed they didn't make any set of seekers for the 's they're releasing, electing instead to go ahead with the dumb leader version instead (really, they wouldn't have had to do the main trio's, they could have done the rainmakers, Sandstorm, the botcon guys, anyone else)

Hmmm..
Grand Prime or Optimus Maximus and 1st Autobot car set
Superion and Aerialbots
Defensor and Protectobots
Sky Reign and 2nd Autobot car set
Scattershot with bots who will work with him
Bruticus and Combaticons
Menasor and Stunticons
Devastator and Constructicons
Cyclonus with possessed of his choice
Looks like 4 to 3 to me, with each having a random torso bot, although there is also an extra random Prime torso when not combined with Battle core or normal CW Prime. What did I miss?

I don't count the extra torsos (since they are just that) or Devastator (as he is in a different size class and thus is out of scale with most of the line). And you forgot Victorion.

Yeah, Galvatronus can't count if you can't form a whole combiner out of him, nor does devastator, 'cuz he doesn't scramble with anyone else, so it's pretty much 2 vs. 5-6

Superion: the five UW figures, plus CW Powerglide, fights Menasor
Convoy Grand Prime (instead of Ultra Prime): the five UW figures, fights Grand Galvatron
Defensor: the five UW figures plus, CW Groove (don't care if that leaves me with two Grooves), fights Bruticus
Sky Reign: CW Sky Lynx and his four Autobot gentlemen, fights Galvatronus
Victorion: the six CW figures who combine into her, fights Devastator (makes sense for the super special fan character to go up against the biggest bad guy)
G2 Superion: the six figures who combine into him, fights G2 Menasor
Battle Core Optimus Prime: single figure by himself, plus CW Rodimus, borrows Convoy Grand Prime's limbs to become Optimus Maximus, fights Grand Scourge
Menasor: the five UW figures plus, CW Blackjack, fights Superion
Galvatronus: CW Cyclonus, CW Alpha Bravo, CW Offroad, CW Rook, and CW Blast Off, plus CW Viper, fights Sky Reign
Devastator: the five UW figures, fights Victorion
Bruticus: the five UW figures (once Takara gets to doing Bruticus), plus CW Shockwave, fights Defensor
Grand Galvatron: the five UW figures, fights Convoy Grand Prime
G2 Menasor: the six figures who combine into him, fights G2 Superion
Grand Scourge: single figure by himself, steals limbs from whoever he wants to form Grand Scourge Hyper Mode, fights Battle Core Optimus
No interest in getting Scattershot right now.
And leaving out Predacus and Thunder Mayhem. But if I were to include them, I could have Galvatronus switch sides (since IDW Cyclonus isn't fully evil in the comics) to fight Thunder Mayhem and Sky Reign could fight Predacus.

Left leg: Rook.
Right leg: Quickslinger/Slingshot.
Left arm: Prowl.
Right arm: Alpha Bravo.
Add either white or black PE feet to taste (I quite like the standard handfootguns as hands, just not as feet).
The result? A sexy as hell black and white (with a smidgen of blue) combiner!

Delta, you must have missed The White Knight the first time around.
A little different than the combo you said. Sorry I don't have any PE accessories, but Alpha bravo is this guys Herald.

Well now I feel like a right wally.
But regardless of my stupidity, that looks badass. ESPECIALLY with the sword.
Actually, speaking of white CW limbs, I had an idea for a custom that would look great with BC OP: Combiner Wars Strongarm!
In case you're wondering why I based this on Trailbreaker instead of Offroad, the answer lies in the arm cannon/5mm socket. Combined with the awesome "clamp hand" Trailbreaker comes with for his HandFootGun, Strongarm will be able to have a strong arm...or become a strong arm!
Also, here's Strika from Onslaught.

william-james88 wrote:Delta Magnus, while it is a joy to see your passion about these toys, I think I would stick my head in an oven if Hasbro were to release those repaints. I really think I am the fan who is most sick of CW repaints out there.
Yeah, I am inclined to agree actually. Whilst I do love digibashing, I do have the occasional pang of guilt where I look at myself and think "am I any better than Hasbro? Why do I cry out for less useless repaints whilst producing ideas for them myself?" Though personally I'd rather see those repaints rather than some of the repaints we got. (I'm looking at you, Wheeljack and Smokescreen...)
TL;DR: Less useless crap like the entire 1984 Autobot cast as combiner limbs, more original stuff/unexpected homages. Or you know, some original molds now and again would be nice.
I'm not actually sure if I'm going to do Trailbreaker into Strongarm. It's either that or I get the RID mold and upgrade it heavily with Shapeways parts/kitbashing.

Combiner.
Gotcha! So they could have painted it burgundy or rust or what have you, but didn't.
Hasbro'ed!
I'm keeping this one. Hasbro'ed
