Were you wondering what the next 2 figures of the Transformers Subscription Service would be? Are you waiting eagerly for the reveal? Well we can now tell you that shipment 2 of the TFSS 5.0 consists of the Double Pretenders Optimus Prime with Hi-Q and Megatron with Spacewarp! The images come to us via 2 different sources today. The in-hand images come courtesy of Puma the Hunter on twitter, while the biocards were provided by Allspark member Onyx Minor.

The in-hand images show that it is difficult to get Megatron into his shell and includes the instructions for how he is supposed to work. We've included Puma's comments as he attempted to make the shell work.

Check out all the images and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

And we have our Pretender Shells! But those aren't the weapons for the Megatron/Grand Max shell we first saw. Boo!

So yea. That gray part attaches to the chest and is supposed to hold Spacewarp in the shell. Sadly, looking at it wrong makes it pop off.

Then it slots into these guys in the front shell and Spacewarp fitting in. I haven't figure out how to get legs to fit in the back shell.

I really want that Optimus. The figure looks so cool and I love pretenders, and this thing looks gorgeous

Really torn. I have no attachment to the Pretender Shells. The Legends Figures look pretty cool, but the ones I really like are the Minicons. But I am not sure its worth selling the shells without the minicons... >_>

I do like though, how thry made the combining part for Megatron look like G1 Megatron's gun. Nice touch

I dunno whose Facebook they were from, I just found them embedded in a post on The Allspark. Maybe they're from that user's Facebook.

I didn't expect the pics to get news'd.

I had been wondering if Pretenders were coming soon, what with first the Combiners ala year 3 of G1, and then rebranded Headmasters ala year 4 of G1. Not a large scale thing, but nice to see.

It does give me the idea how they could explain away why Transformers would have Pretenders shells...it could be a way to protect them from an overdose of radiation ala Beast Wars.

These make me wonder how much it costs to subscribe, as I like the looks of both.

So I really want to know where they got those shells from did Takara reproduce them for a planned reissue of Grand Maximus and then not release it so the shell mould was going spare ?

Or are they ancient moulds someone found in storage somewhere ?

The monkey shell is just a redeco of Oilmaster's shell that was made wholecloth by Boss Fight Studios for BotCon 2015.

The Grand Max shell... I think was explained somewhere before, but I don't remember. Might have been unearthed when Takara did Encore Fort Max, but obviously wasn't gonna be used for that figure since Fort Max didn't have a Pretender shell.

This is unrelated to what Hasbro is currently doing at retail. Fun Pub took this initiative on their own.

The fiction made for these toys already explained that Optimus and Megatron used these forms to hide themselves on Earth from Thunder Mayhem, with Megatron hiding as a human civilian and Optimus as a city zoo gorilla named "Garry".

Unfortunately, the window for this subscription service ended last summer. These figures are a long time coming.

The colors on Spacewarp and the helm shape remind me of Skyshadow (Blackshadow) from Titans Return. I thought that it may have been the same character but upon further inspection, Spacewarp is a she. The one thing on her card I don't understand is how she can smirk with that battle mask on. (Well ok, maybe we just can't see it.)

Spacewarp is a preexisting character who was originally planned for release in the old 2003 Universe line as a Toys'R'Us exclusive redeco of the Armada Jetfire toy.

Image

Though the originally-planned figure was never picked up by any store chain, the toy was eventually released in a modified form as Astrotrain, a 2007 Club Store exclusive by the Transformers Collector Club, with a new headsculpt and new redecos of the Giant Planet Mini-Con Team instead of redecos of the Space Mini-Con Team.

Image

Years later, the TCC Facebook fiction of 2014-2016 would bring back the original Spacewarp concept and reinvented it as a female Unicron Trilogy character who went on all kinds of crazy adventures in outer space.

Image

She gained a fan following through her official Facebook fiction titled "Spacewarp's Log", in which she spun tales of her wild adventures to the readers. Her popularity led to the Club finally giving her a chance to have an official toy in the Club's last hurrah of toy releases. Thus, we have this TFSS Spacewarp toy, with Megatron's bio containing references to Spacewarp's Log, ensuring us that she's still that same character despite being paired with a version of G1 Megatron.

And on that note, lemme just say that Spacewarp is friggin' awesome. She's a snarky Decepticon jerk with a heart of gold who turns into a spaceship and traverses not just time and space; but many alternate realities with a team of sidekicks that combine into a reality warping gun. I really wish we'd get an actual full figure of her (because, again, awesome) but her inclusion with Megatron just endears me to that little set even more.
I want more characters like her honestly. She was so cool and her log was so great.

Here's an unpublished bio that was written just for the little Spacewarp figure in this set, but ultimately didn't make it into the final product:
Name: Spacewarp

Function: Adventurer

Motto: “All I ask is a neutrino wind at my back, a nebula to dodge, and the flung spray and blown spume of a supernova, and you'll find me a satisfied wanderer.”

STRENGTH: 2 INTELLIGENCE: 8 SPEED: 10+ ENDURANCE: 5 RANK: 4 COURAGE: 10 FIREBLAST: 10+ SKILL: 9

Bio: A card-sharping, engex-guzzling, rough-and-tumble Cybertronian, Spacewarp has been everywhere, seen everything, done everything. She's plied the spaceways as a pirate, found work as a soldier-for-hire, even engaged in the occasional bout of freelance peacekeeping. She loves spinning yarns of her past exploits, and her tales grow with each telling. To hear her tell it, she's broker a peace between angry gods, saved the galaxy three and a half times, charmed tribes of primitive Cybertronians on long-lost colony worlds, accidentally destroyed an entire solar system, won all the gold the Galran Khanganete on a single roll of the dice, and even gone toe-to-toe with not one but two of the Thirteen. She claims her current, Mini-Con stature is but a temporary impediment, the legacy of a run-in with a time traveler wielding a Tissue Compression Eliminator device.

Regardless of her size, she's a force to be reckoned with. When binary bonded with Megatron, whom she finds fascinating in a case-study-of-a-tyrant way, she can utilize his connection to a black hole to power a space bridge to anywhere in the universe. In her spaceship configuration, she can achieve FTL velocity and even, under the right circumstances, pierce the dimensional veil between universes. Her most versatile form, the Transwarp Blaster rifle, can rewrite the fundamental properties of reality itself, tear a hole in space and time, or simply unleash a massive geyser of energy able to overwhelm all but the most heavily-shielded of targets. Despite her potent capabilities, or perhaps because of them, she tends to be overconfident; her physical strength is low, and she's not quite as clever as she thinks she is. She enjoys her partnership with Megatron, who has proved invaluable in extricating herself from the situations she blithely walks into. She's aware that he sees her as a tool, and intends to skedaddle should he ever push her too far. For now, though, she believes her abilities make her too valuable for him to carelessly exploit. She just may be right about that.
The author of this bio likes to think that the Doctor whom Spacewarp encountered was the Ninth Doctor.

Authorial intent though it may be, was it 9 or 10 that ended up shrinking Death's Head?

*goes to Wiki to look*

EDIT: Neither. Death's Head encounterz Doctor #7 in The CrossRoads of Time who uses a TCE on him to shrink DH to human size. (The Doctor seemingly was hoping for a little more...)

Still, its a nice nod in Spacewarp's bio to obscure muktifandom canon

So they're shipping the two Pretenders together? I had just assumed they'd ship one of them with Counterpunch for parts 3-4. That's going to be a pretty big box! Then again I guess a box with a Pretender set, a CW Voyager Optimus Prime mold, and a bonus Deluxe would really be too much.

3rd, 5th, 11th and 12th for me. :P

The Prime looks kinda fun but I wouldn't want it as Prime but the colours particularly in vehicle mode appeal to me so much more than when it was Swerve.

I'm kind of surprised at all the praise these are getting, but that's ok...I was just never a fan of Pretenders, even in the original series, 1988 was when I started to stop collecting the toys and the Pretender Gimmick was a huge part of it. 1988 still had some cool toys (PM Prime, the Seacons, Overlord in Japan etc...) but I was pretty much done at that point.

To me these look horrible, but If those that purchased them truly enjoy them, then more power to you. I never thought a new line based on Pretenders would ever happen or work, but it seems as if there is at least some basis for a possible resurgence.

I guess the positive way to look at it is...if POTP decides to re-introduce Pretenders, it will make some fans happy, and it will make my wallet happy also with less toys I would want to buy.

The Megatron shell is made from the original tools used to make the Grand shell in G1. I was tipped off that it was still part of the Fortress Maximus tool library shortly after the Encore was released and when Fun Pub started talking Pretenders, it seemed predestined. lol

I'm not sure why the factory weren't also able to use the Fort/Grand sword & rifle. The Titans Return weapons that they found as replacements probably do look a little more appropriately "lethal" for a Megatron to wield though.

Here's how you can transform Megatron to fit into the shell and not rock back and forth:
https://twitter.com/JesseWittenrich/status/857747983533846528

You can also just fold the legs up behind him G1 PMOP style if you find it too finicky to get the legs sandwiched in while in the yoga pose.

Spacewarp is the small space shuttle figure and not the Pretender shell (if there was some confusion), I believe it has a face unlike the large Spacewarp (which I own).

My set arrived today! I found the packing a little unusual. The only tings in the foam are the two shells, unlike the previous set which had all of the figures in the foam. Optimus and Hi-Q are inside the shell, which made me cringe a little since they're just rattling around in there with nothing to protect them during shipping. They both seem fine so problems there. Megatron and Spacewarp are both in bags under the foam squished up against the cardboard so there isn't a whole lot protecting them either. I don't know, just feels like very haphazard packaging for such an expensive set.

That aside, it's a great set. My Prime does have slightly loose legs and the shell has trouble holding the weapons right thanks to his big thumbs being in the way. Hi-Q doesn't really plug into the shell well, he just falls right out. I do find Prime easier to get into the shell if you lay him on the door (basically on his back) first as the fins can be a pain to line up if you stick him in the shell first. I've never owned the Megatron mold before, can't say I'm too crazy about it. The shoulders keep untabbing and it's hard to overlook the big fists on the tank. He does look good holding that giant sword, though. :) Pretty clever figuring out how to stuff Megatron inside the shell, but I find that gray piece to be useless, Spacewarp falls off of it pretty easily.

But yeah, these guys are going to look great on the shelf.

Mine arrived today. Optimus is great, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how big his shell is.

Megatron falls into the category of "great idea, didn't quite work". Plus mine has some problems (Spacewarp's wings seem to be on crooked as the right one gets caught up on the body during transformation, and one of the pegs on the connector piece broke), so I might have to talk to someone, though I doubt there'll be options. :-(

This Prime seems to share a lot with past versions of Optimus. He's got weapons from other Optimus Prime toys, Hi-Q from his Powermaster days, and a gorilla shell that evokes Optimus Primal. His color scheme is like laser Prime's, but with movie-style flames. Being made from Swerve's mold gives him higher shoulders like in Armada, as well as a pickup-truck alt-mode like his Alternators toy and the e-Hobby version of Orion Pax. Oh, and speaking of Armada, the deluxe Armada Prime had a silver Mini-Con partner named Over-Run who transformed into a jet and a gun, kinda like this version of Hi-Q does. Granted, several of these are probably coincidences, but even if they are, they're fun coincidences.

Got mine today. Did you guys know that there's enough room inside Megatron's Pretender shell for ALL of his accessories (including the big gun and sword from the two Titans Return Voyager toys) to fit inside there with Megatron and Spacewarp? The sword and big gun can just fit inside each of the shell's legs.

Doctor #9, Christopher Eccleston, really deserves a lot more credit than the fandom was initially willing to give him. It was a different take on the Doctor for sure, but he did it well and he succeeded in the unenviable task of putting the series back on the map. Tennant an Smith are just such hard acts to compare to, brcause they are fantastic actors who csn run through the emotional spectrum at a drop of a hat and show you such polar opposites like the Child-eyed wonder on the surface and the depths of guilt and loss that inecvitably follow an immortal, and one always thrust into action. A lot of folks liked or hated that fronting, sometimes because their Doctors were always "innocent", but many because it hit close or too close to home. I like Capaldi now that he has his show back. His character just wasnt strong enough to not be drowned out by Clara. Now that its his limelight, so much an improvement.

Anyway...

Got my boxset in yesterday, but didnt get to it until last night.

As you have all read, or skipped, I really had no interest in this set. I have no love for Pretenders or need tiny versiins of the Leaders. I just wanted the minicons.

But I pulled the Gorilla out of the box, and I was genuinely excited about him. This was my first experience with the mold, so maybe it was newness, or because its something the Club made, I dont know. But a figure I was so sure I would put on Ebay suddenly was waiting for me to find a shelf to Display him on.

Megatron, alrhough less so, really went the same way. I have no ibterest in Pretneder Shells suddenly but for a one-off exclusive I am surprised how excited I actually am about these two. Prime and Megs will probably be permanently inside their shells, while Hi-Q and Spacewarp will be joinging their Voyager or Leader Class counterparts. Still, I offer my congratulations, FunPub, you won this guy over.

Unrelated topic: for some reason, when I try to type on Seibertron with my phone, the text lags, types all at once, and then the next key I type erases everything that was written by the lag. Seibertron is the only site that is foing this and it does it all the time. I actuzlly wrote this in a Note app and copied it in. Could be my phone, but its seriously annoying.

I know how that goes. That's how I felt about Ramjet. Dunno why I opened him, but glad I did.

Is anybody else having difficulty attaching any of Prime's weapons to the backpack holes of his Pretender shell? The hexagonal holes on mine seem just a smidge too small for any 5mm accessory to plug into them at all.

Conversely, I do not have this problem with the hexagonal holes on the backpack of my Oilmaster's Pretender shell.

I've decided to end up selling off Prime and keep Megatron.

I just don't have much of a need or want for Prime in this form. The referential nature of the design doesn't really further any of the collections I have and in a way, makes Oil Master less unique as a figure.

Megatron is a curiousity. I like most all of the design, but I really dislike the contortion required to get him in the shell. I understand the reasons it's the way it is, but still. :/

Funny, I chose to keep Prime and sell Megatron for the exact opposite reasons. Prime's shell and inner robot is pretty perfectly scaled with the G1 classic pretenders (I do need a Grimlock now though), and I never did have Starscream, so Megatron feels out of place. Also, never owned oilmaster, so the shell is plenty unique for me.

So, this answers one question, but raises another. We now know it'll be Toxitron and Counterpunch in the last box. Now the new question is, who's the final bonus figure? :-? :-$

I'm sure the inevitable pre-order change that will come from BBTS will be less of a deterrent with this shipment since both Pretenders were shipped together. however...last time it took 20 calendar days (3/23 from when orders first started arriving until 4/11 when the e-mail announcement was sent)

How long will it take this time? --I'm sure most fans that pre-ordered these wanted both, but I feel sorry for any who only wanted one of them. the time/effort to be charged for both, then to sell the other *hoping* to get your money back is such a pain.

I think the *real* screwjob will come for anyone who has pre-ordered both Counterpunch & Toxitron...think you're going to get that 7th *bonus* figure without additional cost?...Think again.

I didn't get the last two issues of the fan comic, but there's not really any indication that I can tell, other than it's a "head not used in the U.S." That's pretty specific though. We can rule out the new molds used for Takara's Computron and Bruticus, since why would they advertise a new head and not a new mold? I think that leaves us with either the seeker head from UW Grand Galvatron, or Thrust from the same set. I'd imagine we won't get Starscream out of the set, but any number of other seekers are likely.

I never got my hands on Oilmaster, so for me the situation is the reverse, and to me, Pretender Optimus is new, unique, and impressive.

Don't forget the statement could include unrevealed or unused heads, including:

- "Brawl" or "Ironclad" for Rook
- "Hoist" for the Trailbreaker addons of Offroad.
