That transformation is PERFECT.
Simple, effective, no tiny bits to struggle with, just pure fun.
I'm looking forward to it.

And when I hear Ultimate (class) I think of something like TF Prime Beast Hunters Ultimate class Beast Fire Predaking. Definitely a gimmick toy.
Here's a list of all of the Ultimate (/Supreme) class figures there've been so far:
http://www.transformers-universe.com/in ... gebnis.php (just set "Class" to "Ultimate (Supreme")
The closest ones to Leader class are DotM Optimus Prime and maybe BM Air Attack Optimus Primal.

Lunatic Prime wrote:Why would anybody expect an Ultimate class figure to be a good Leader class one? I mean on the one hand why wouldn't they just call it Leader class if it is one and on the other hand we will be getting a Studio Series Leader class figure of RotB Optimus Primal this year. So it doesn't make sense to release two. It's very likely that it'll even be revealed next Tuesday.

Especially the ROTB one, where the bot and beast are almost identical to each-other.
We are pretty far from the Beast Wars cartoon.

The MP release begs to differ. Takara really did an impressive job recreating the sleek and curvy shape of both modes but cramming in everything they could to make both modes appear as accurate as possible. And man, they really go all out with that transformation, having the back rotate 180, and having the back of the robot shins become the beast thighs. Plus providing the proper functioning so that he can be both bipedal and walk on all 4s in beast mode.
We've seen other pretty cool transformations for Primal, like some of the Beast Machines toys and the 10th anniversary one that's a completely new mold and look. Optimus Primal can be as simple or as complex as they want him to be, just like Optimus Prime.

While my post above was for Primal in general, yes the ROTB one is tougher to add complexity since his on screen transformation is just building on top of the gorilla. Like him turning inside out in a way:
BUT Still, the toys we've gotten themselves show that complexity can vary. The Weaponizer goes with the complete chest inside out flip, like this Ultimate one, while the voyager has a superposition approach. So instead of 1 piece moving, you have 3 (tripling the complexity for that step right there).
The feet are another good way to assess where steps are being cut. For the weapinizer, it's just rotating them, but for the voyager you have the robot feet completely dissapearing in robot mode, folding into the gorilla shins. This ultimate toy doesn't have that and instead just has you flip the robot feet present in beast mode and you just flip them down for robot mode.
We'll get a leader class studio series one as well and I do expect it to be more complex than either of the ones we've gotten thus far.

The figure itself is good but the price is too high.

there are some screws and pins. These come somewhat assembled, like 3 torso portions, 4 parts per limb, etc. They are 10 minute kits to assembled, but that helps with how solid they are, no small parts to just fly away

I was curious too and went for it. $50 CAD shipped didn't seem bad.
And yes, they come partly assembled

And while they do look good, they are indeed model kits and not full blown action figures. So the plastic feels light, and the figure is very gappy. You don't see it in the images, but it's full of holes everywhere.

Thanks, guys! That's very intriguing. I got a good sense of the gaps in some of D-Max's other pics, I can see that Primal's legs can be looked through from the side and that doesn't bother me. Maybe I'll grab Primal if BBTS takes pre-orders again.

How do you deal with Primal's collar piece? Mine keeps getting undone whenever I articulate his head.
Also, I built this with my kids and we all found it funny that while a lot of it is done, one part that needs to be affixed is his butt.

My collar piece has been no trouble at all so far.
i too found it funny that his butt flap was that random piece you needed to still attach.

No idea, if Bee came with his mask and twin arm cannons, I would be completely content and not tempted by the ThreeZero one.
As for Prime, I would actually get him if he came with his gun, sword, and axe.
As for Primal, this guy just looks so good

Now, this is all heresy since I can't confirm anything, so take out the big bottle of Himalayan sea salt, Target apparently is pulling listings for the Core line. Now they're saying the figures will be released later in the year under a "Kid Friendly" Studio Series line.

I'm as picky as the next person but I don't share the flaws that the majority seem to have with this NOT Bee. I feel that his box cutter blade and not so impressive blaster could have been improved....other than that a fine figure....'nuff said!

He is fun! and I like the Rhino mode a lot. This feels nicely in scale.
Also, just because, I made a list of the 11 RotB figures I still want to get that I have not gotten yet. They are below Rhinox:

I doubt it's coming but how cool would a Weaponizer Scourge/Freezer set have been? Obviously, Freezer would've been a LOT simpler.

They are shaping up to be difficult to find for sure.
I would have loved a weaponizer Scourge Freezer, that feels like it would have been an easy layup.
Smash changer Rhinox continues to be really fun

3 Future Optimus Prime variants:
Posted by D-Maximal_Primal on July 11th, 2023 @ 8:09pm CDT
Thanks to their Instagram page, we have prototype images and teasers for the next wave, which will consist of Scourge, Rhinox, and Cheetor! All 3 are based on their robot modes, and appear to have some great detailing built into them, a feature that was present and pretty impressive on their first wave. Cheetor and Rhinox also appear to come with their weapons as well, much like Primal did.
We do not yet know when these kits will be available, or if there will be another wave.
Check out the images below, and let us know what you think!

So the fact that they do a re-run of W1 is a great thing.

I doubt the models were ever sold in any physical stores. They've been selling out at online stores since the movie came out and now Japanese sites are taking orders again.
As for the figure line only the Voyagers have been found in stores in North America as far as I know. There's 2 Target exclusive Deluxe 4 packs, but only one has been released.

They'll come around eventually at my local TrU, but it may take months or even a year, based on the releases of the N.E.S.T figures and the SS44 reissue.

As a fan of Beast Wars Airazor character I was tad disappointed with her movie portrayal, and ultimate demise. If they were going to got hat route could have just used any old secondary character.
I don't have anything to buy from the Movie line until Nightbird get a legitimate DLX figure.
