The Holiday season sales have started! Today we were pointed toward some new toy sales from the
Kmart Australia Holiday toy catalogue by user and almighty Admin Burn that span multiple Transformers lines, from Combiner Wars, to Rescue Bots, to Titans Return. Check out the advert for the sale below, including specials on the Combiner Wars G2 Bruticus set, and Titans Return Deluxes and Voyagers. Transformers have been strangely absent from most stores' holiday catalogues this year, so it's refreshing to finally see a full-page ad from a major retailer.

I have a question. Is Masterpiece Wheeljack for under $60 a good deal? The catch is that it's from 3P sellers on Amazon without Prime shipping. It looks like most, if not all, of the 3P sellers are based in Japan. The cheapest one is $53.43 with estimated delivery of 12/20-1/18. And since it's not Prime, it's a bit more of a hassle in the event there are issues. If it's Prime, Amazon takes care of you like they sold it. If not, they make you deal with the seller before they step in. What do you guys think? Anything else I should be wary of?

While they make you deal with the seller first, you still have all that amazon service behind it all, making sure it all works out. It reminds me a lot of e-bay. I bought stuff that wasnt using prime and while I did talk with the seller first, when I realized it wasnt going anywhere I called amazon, they stepped in and I got my money back the next day. So you do have that security no matter what.
And Yes MP Wheeljack for under $60 is a good price. Its even better than if you imported it yourself from Japan at their lowest price possible (which would be $60).
Also, unlike other MPs, he is easy to tell if KO'd since by the time he came out, the KO company wrote Takasa Tony on the box for easier idetification.
I wish you all the best in this purhase of what I find to be the best MP figure.

thats just there estimate and 9 times out of 10 its always earlier than that for overseas purchases

Those are the slowest shipping dates. I've ordered like that before off of Amazon, and it does take that long.

Those are the slowest shipping dates. I've ordered like that before off of Amazon, and it does take that long.

UPDATE: He arrived!! And he's glorious. The way he goes from thin, small truck to large, chunky robot is amazing. And for a cool $22 with shipping, ($15 without) he's even better. Picture time!
Croquet happens to be one of Magnus' favorite passtimes. No one is brave enough to tell him he has terrible form.
The obligatory spin on the headmaster-with-bot-in-background shot I'm becoming to be known for.

That's why when I see something on "sale", I always look at how much the thing go for elsewhere. To see if the sale is genuine or total bull.

Not really. People were able to get metroplex for 50$ at costco right before he was sold out. And his price is huge now. If there is one lesson I have learnt its this: if you want a toy, buy it before you cant anymore, and then be happy you have it

I live in a pretty largely populated area, and never even saw a Metroplex at retail, and lord knows I tried, even used other peoples Costco memberships to get in stores & try to find one. This would have been the toy that broke my long streak of non-collecting, but it took another 3 years since Metroplex was never found. Not saying that TR Fort Max is a shelf warmer by any means, but he certainly isn't as hard to find, seems like Hasbro produced way more of FM than Metroplex.

I wasn't even collecting 3 years ago, and didn't even know about BBTS...maybe stores should have had them in stock, to a reasonable degree, so that the average person could just buy them? And I'm not sure what "those people" is referring to...but I like to purchase items unused because its been my experience that people tend to not take care of their stuff.

Metroplex was available at toysrus.com as well for $129. Here is a post from then, and he was there with a BOGO sale too, which means you could get any other toy you buy half price in the same order.

The only reason Metroplex is expensive now is because there are people who want him now that didnt get him back when he was at retail. If the demand is the same for Fort Max once he leaves the shelves, then the aftermarket price will be the same. My thoughts are that Metroplex was a far more substantial update to his original g1 self than Fort Max is and thus there is a lower demand. But we will see if that holds true in 3 years from now. Also, no one debated getting the Encore vs the gen version, unlike Fot Max, where the Encore is still a viable option.

At 85$CAN shipped from Amazon.com, I thought I had an incredible deal. It's a great toy and even if there is less painted details than the original and not the same soundbytes, having a "G1 Optimus Prime" colored Primal is really awesome.
So at that ridiculous 35$US+ship price, anyone who don't have the mold and love Prime/Primal should get one. Especially because the original price was a ridiculous 150/200$, is a limited edition, and is awesome.
Even Canadians are allowed on the fun because the shipping price is very reasonable and the import fees got refunded a few weeks after purchase. Finally, even with the exchange rate, it's worth it.

I dug through and found a few really good Transformer-related ones (Especially the Optimus Primal that was $150 for only $35!):
Platinum Edition:
At 85$CAN shipped from Amazon.com, I thought I had an incredible deal. It's a great toy and even if there is less painted details than the original and not the same soundbytes, having a "G1 Optimus Prime" colored Primal is really awesome.
So at that ridiculous 35$US+ship price, anyone who don't have the mold and love Prime/Primal should get one. Especially because the original price was a ridiculous 150/200$, is a limited edition, and is awesome.
Even Canadians are allowed on the fun because the shipping price is very reasonable and the import fees got refunded a few weeks after purchase. Finally, even with the exchange rate, it's worth it.
So, what you guys are waiting for?
