The image shows Voyager Class Scourge, Voyager Class Hot Rod, Deluxe Class Blurr, Deluxe Class Jazz, Leader Class Grimlock and Wheelie and lastly, Deluxe Class Kup. This reveals as well that the Studio Series 86 figures are not numbered like the other Studio Series figures. We also get a good look at the accessories the figures come with and it looks as though Grimlock is only coming with his gun (which is accurate to the movie). It is unknown at this point if the included wheelie transforms or not.
It is highly likely that Hasbro will be officially revealing them Friday, giving us an even better and more detailed look at them.

Same happened to me about a month ago ago with those 2 and a couple of others. Some of mine cancelled without any notice and others I had to approve, but when I went to approve and confirm the payment method, you lost out on the sale from Feb.
I ended up going with Amazon and had them within a couple days.

I think that they all look amazing, though I am only getting Grimlock at this point in time, all though I am interested to see what Blurr's alt mode will look like...

Grimlock looks like the last word on G1 Grimlock. I'll probably get all of these minus Jazz.
I kinda wish I hadn't gotten the Headmaster versions of these guys now.

Jazz I’m most excited for: I like the Reveal the Shield but wasn’t quite there for me. This one though...
Blurr and Grimlock look really nice, I’m down for them too.

I know a lot of SS fans don't feel that G1 is a good fit, but personally I'm grateful that we can get figures that complement rather than replace Generations toys. All of the characters on this page have had figures within the last five years, and these are substantively different in engineering, deco, and overall aesthetic.

Actually these are still Generations toys as Studio Series itself was just the live action movie arm of Generations. Plus with these not being numbered, it really adds to the theory that these would have ended up in Kingdom had they not decided to bring Beast Wars into the fold.
In essence, this is Hasbro having their cake and eating it (more G1 and beasts at the same time)

Not fussed about wheelie transforming with having the pilotable tr/tl versions so he's just an added bonus.

Probably picking up Grimlock, and maybe picking up Blurr. Have to see how he compares to TR Blurr though.
The other 3 don't interest me in the least.

Fair point on the Generations label as being a category across product lines rather than a specific product line, but what I'm trying to get at is that over different product lines over the years, we get new versions of G1 that emphasize different features. Settings aside the Kingdom versus SS debate, either way SS Blurr and TR Blurr are both G1 Blurr in both modes in a way that I wouldn't consider the 2010 version, or most Classics / Universe figures more generally. There are different product refreshes that emphasize different features. While there hasn't been a whole lot of character overlap between Prime Wars and WfC generally, we're starting to get more with SS86, but it doesn't feel redundant to me. (The WfC overlap is even lower when you exclude the principal leads and retools like TR Sound wave. And I'm saying between Prime Wars and WfC, not within WfC where there's tons of overlap between Siege and ER.)
So yes, we get a wider range of characters between multiple Generations lines, but the line play patterns and aesthetic priorities also allow for very different figures of the same characters, which I find very appealing since I'm a G1 collector first.

blackeyedprime wrote:Grimlock proportions look off, his arms look way too long. Some of the other figures look like their legs are too short but hopefully better photos will straighten that out.
The picture has been stretched vertically, so that's why the proportions look odd. The arms and legs are too long and the figures look skinnier than they really are.

Same here, in fact, this might be as close to proof as we get that these were not originally intended for the SS line. If that is the case, then the numbers may not be pointless after all, aside from 86 covering multiple figures, and go right back to the traditional numbering for the rest of the bayverse figures.
Now here is a crazy thought, what if number 86 is the end of the line, and we are just getting them before the actual end to line up with Haslab Unicron's arrival. Since 69 is the Devy set that means 70-85 would be the remaining bayverse figures in the line.

I really could tell once I glanced at the logo on the boxes.
Anyway, I'm really excited about that Grimlock...
I still remember what a letdown the Classics version was back in '07.
Imo it's ridiculous how long it's taken to get good figures for these characters...
Arguably these are some of the most popular Autobot characters from G1.
Can't wait to get clearer images!

I had the same thought. But, that means in 2021, there would be 16 slots available for bayverse toys (#70-85), which is about normal for a given year *maybe* a little sparse but including the 86 line, makes it full.
However, what about after that? I mean I don't even collect this line, but I respect the idea behind it. Combining all the TF characters that have appeared in the 6 live action films, I came up with well over 150 possible entries. Will it just end at 86?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/86_(term)
...and if in 2022, they just pick up the live action line with 87 and moving on, it just seems a little disjointed and lame, since you know the number system will always be off by however many 86 toys there are...

That's my primary concern about Grimlock as well. I'm waiting for better pictures to judge, but if they go too cartoony with his deco and sculpt he's going to lose a lot of his "intimidation factor", which is pretty important for the Dinobots.
Blurr looks solid, I'll be interested in seeing how it compares to the TR version.
Jazz also looks decent so far. I'm very curious to see how it compares to RTS Jazz, as RTS Jazz is already basically perfection.

Personally, SS Hot Rod. I don't really like the idea of wasting the Commander class slot for him when there are so many better choices, plus SS Hot Rod does everything I need a Hot Rod to do

I'm thinking we'll see some Bayverse stuff, maybe only 3 figures, but we'll see some. They have to reveal the entire next wave, and those pre-orders would likely be filled in January.
I'm thinking Bumblebee, Grindor, and maybe Jolt or Dino.

Commander Rodimus is a compete and utter joke. Should've been something like Tigerhawk or Magnaboss.
SS Hot Rod all the way there, but even then, I'd be far more excited for SS TLK Hot Rod

Yes. But, it would very surprising if Rodimus Prime turns out to be any other size class than the Commander since we know he's the Kingdom line but all of the Voyager and Leader slots have been taken by others in the leaks, leaving Commander the only remaining slot to speculate for him.Poly Wraith wrote:D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Commander Rodimus is a compete and utter joke. Who knows, maybe a miracle will occur and Hasbro will see sense and make Earth-mode Magnus a Commander-class instead of Leader-class (Commander-class UM actually makes sense, because it would allow more trailer space to carry cars with), freeing up a Leader spot for Rodimus Prime.
Geez, the Grimlock-Jazz-Kup pic is just a biiiiiit horizontally squashed.
Grimlock's accessories are disappointing, as are the yellow chest (really hope that's turned gold before the real release) and the simplified cartoony block details on his legs (where the G1 toy and the PotP Voyager had detailed greebling stickers). But even with those knocks against him, he's my most-anticipated figure of the bunch (although that might change if clearer photos reveal his sculpt to be stupidly low in detail).
Based on what we've seen so far, going to get Grimlock, Kup (I'd be lest interested if there was a "rounded arms" kit for TR Kup but there's not, and this also gives rounded fenders in the truck mode), Scourge, Hot Rod (because I like Hot Rod and this is a good one, even with as good as the TR version is and the extra work I put into mine). "Eh" on Blurr (because of how good TR Blurr already is, especially after repainting) and Jazz (because of how good RTS Jazz is and this one pulling a disappearing act with the doors). They look nice, I'm just "eh" on them personally because I already have really really really good options.

There has been some murmuring from some of the leakers who have seen Studio Series 86 Jazz that his door wings can be deployed in robot mode for his G1 toy look, but it's not necessary if you want to maintain the screen accurate look of the Sunbow character model without them. We'll see soon enough if this is true.

Hopefully it is. Although, given limited finances and the fact that RTS Jazz is still a really really good figure... It's not that I hate him, it's just that I already have one that's still highly satisfactory.Wolfman Jake wrote:I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, but looking at the Studio Series '86 boxes, it's obvious that they do come with carboard backgrounds for each figure, just like in the regular Studio Series live action movie releases. Reiterating something I added to my previous post, it would make more sense for Earth Mode Ultra Magnus to be Commander-class (because there's no slagging way a modern Leader-class could hold 4 Deluxe cars) and Rodimus Prime to be Leader-class, so here's hoping it will turn out Magnus was listed in the wrong size class or something.

The one thing to also consider, if rumors are to be believed, that the Rodimus Prime for kingdom was being referred to as "Mutant" rodimus. meaning it is quite plausible that we are not looking at a g1 rodimus prime at all. Rather, a Rodimus Primal if you will. Remember back in the beast wars days, when an image of the next new Cheetor toy leaked, and everyone was convinced he was Rodimus Primal? good times.
