In other official image news, once more with the DO NOT COPY lettering and from TFSource, we have a look at the Takara Tomy Transformers Legends LG32 Chromedome, LG33 Highbrow, and LG34 Mindwipe! The three deluxes also include the Titan Masters triple changer Legend class figures, as you can see from the images mirrored below - let us know what you think in the Energon Pub!

Yay! Been waiting for these to surface.
But sigh, more drones. Mindwipe even has the same one as Skullcruncher. Wish they ditched those, especially now that the Yen is strong.

definitely looks like the same headsculpt on Domey there. Sorry to burst a few bubbles. It's too difficult to tell with all the artefacts in there whether they changed the paint on the visor though.
That's still going to be my go to chromedome and stylor though.
All the others I'm not sure they're different enough to really justify splashing out on takara, considering my nation's current self-inflicted economic blight

It's not the same it's different. The IDW/hasbro version has more smooth curves. This one has a more straight edge blocky look.

IF they release Brainstorm. That is still far from a guarantee. There is a ton of Hasbro exclusive tooling and redecos Takara hasnt released lately like the Plainum DInobots with new G1 heads, the reissue of Perceptor with new accessories, legends Groove and I dont think they will release Hasbro's version of CW Strafe. I am holding no hope until I see it.

I think they will. It's true they've yet to release certain retools and remolds but this is is headmasters. That was their series and they're going out of their way to make new heads for these guys. It's just a matter of time. My first thought was "God they'll mall make it an online or mall exclusive like deadlock or some of the combiners"

But by the logic you present, that means they could release brainstorm as another character with a different colour. Takara not releasing the Groove legends deco is a hint that they dont like releasing the same character in the legends line and they already released a Legends Brainstorm. So my example is very apt. So going by what you have stated, if Takara releases the Brainstorm retool then it would be as a different character.

That's not what I said at all but if you want to take this route than the override/groove comparison isn't indicative of anything regarding the legends line since override was released under TAV and deluxe groove was released under unite warriors. Takara has already released characters twice under the legends line like rat trap and rhinox but they use them as exclusives. So they very well could just use the brain storm tooling but as an exclusive instead.

It's extremely hard to believe they won't do Brainstorm. I guess anything's possible, but it's also possible that they'll cancel all production on Transformers movies after Last Knight. There's just some things that are easy to count on.
Hell, even if they don't release Brainstorm... I can see them making a new mold for Brainstorm. I know it sounds crazy, but so far all the new molds they've made - Blast Off, Groove - have been for the sake of completing a set. So if they somehow don't get their hands on that Brainstorm, they'll sure as hell make their own because there's no way they're making a line of the Headmasters and missing Brainstorm. It's like ordering a Pizza, Garlic Bread and a bottle of Coke but they ran out of Garlic Bread and don't charge you for it. You're happy with what you got, yeah, but there's something very significant missing.

I still think they can release him as a standard release. Just because the legends line hasn't released the same character twice (outside exclusives) doesn't mean they can't. Only time will tell though

Question for all of you though, are you still planning on buying these toys at 40$ a piece? I placed my preorders for who I wanted in the previous wave and bought when the yen was lower but it looks like I am sticking with hasbro for the entirety of Wave 2 of Titans Return. How about you guys?

I'm going hasbro. I've never had issues with how they do stuff the cost is cheaper for me. Even buying from a straight Japanese vendor doesn't make it cheaper for me most of the time and I don't mind just checking out a couple walmarts and targets on my days off.
Personally I don't demand and need cartoon accuracy, just having the character is good enough for me. Now when it came to the femcons, I bought those and Ultra Magnus and skids because they were gorgeous and I had a little extra cash to toss at an import.

I get it, some people want the most accurate version of the characters they love. im just glad to get classics themed characters 10 years after they started because after all, it was just a filler toy line before the movie toys came out and now CHUG is the headliner for transformers which is insane that it is.

I'll decide which version to get once they go up on AE. I think the exchange rate for the Yen is still better than the one for the Pound, at least for me.

I'm going to need 3 chromedomes. one for the takara head, one for the hasbro head, and one takara to somehow swap out the robot part of the hasbro head for the much better paint apps on takara's head.

Highbrow doesn't look that different from his Hasbro counterpart but I'll reserve judgement for now.

So, with Legends Chromedome, Highbrow and Wipe (Yes, Mindwipe's Japanese name is just "Wipe", poor guy) we have all Deluxe counterparts to the current Hasbro releases. Still no word on any Voyager and Leader releases except for Broadcast/Blaster and Galvatron... What is TakaraTomy up to?

They probably won't make a sentinel due to him and astrotrain sharing molds but also the fact he has no history in Japan. Like I said before Japan is super picky about what they'll make and release. It's baffling they did grand galvatron and Lynx Master.
I don't even think they'll do Alpha Trion. I see them using that mold for Lio Convoy before they use it for Alpha Trion. Not because he doesn't have history hit because the body doesn't looked like alpha Trion. They wouldn't do minimus Ambus, they painted him as Alpha and made up some weird story about him joyriding inside Magnus.
Japan is weird...

Also, with the upcoming Voyager Optimus Prime possibly being considered a "double" release (two Convoy-like toys in a single year), they could switch out Sovereign with the Prime Titan Master, whatever he's called.

Takara tries to stay faithful as much as they can with little deviations but not much. Looks at the redecos that we've seen leaked photos of. I'd wager they won't be getting that Getaway retool of Chromedome.
We never even got that Nightbird or Blackarachnia retool yet we got slipstream as a botcon exclusive and god knows what Hasbro had to deal with to get CW Groove because they said up until March they didn't know if they'd make a deluxe version.

Takara follows the Hasbro schedule pretty closely for the deluxes but they dont like doing straight up redecos when they already released the mold previously (at least recently). So it could be that Brainstorm will replace Getaway from the third wave of deluxes.

Jut so you know, Getaway is just a redeco with a new head, there are no retooled parts. You know what, maybe we just figured it out. Given what the current fiction for the Legends line has done with Alpha Trion, I could see Takara releasing the TR Voyager Alpha Trion mold as Alpha Trin (Trion's Japanese name) in the Legends line with justification for his new lion/spaceship/robot Triple Changer body.
And later on, the TCC capitalized on what that toy's bio said and expanded upon it even further in their own fiction.

Hey Will, I just wanted to let you know I just found the entire Hasbro first wave of deluxes and legends. They're all pretty solid. I had to fight the urge not to buy all of the scourges they had to build a sweeps army. In due time. All are really great, I think Blur has the best mold but a little drab in deco sadly still great and Wheelie is gorgeous. Glad I got that GDO Wheelie years ago because he has his slingshot.
Sadly heads are going to depend on mileage. Scourge is pretty bobbly, it's the connector ports, not the heads themselves.

The guy I was replying to referred to it as Apeface, so I went with that. Talking about these things would be so much easier if the "accessory" components had their own names, something along the line of "TERRI-BULL with Blastcharge vehicle" or "CLOBBER with T-Wrecks beast" or something.

I just don't see them going out their way. The gestalt were a completely different thing. They were teams that combined and Takara wanted to be as faithful as possible. I don't see them making new bodies for apeface or Snapdragon. They're not doing it for nightbeat, goShooter or any others. More than likely the apeface head will be included with a legends figure like they've been doing just to get the mold used if they want to. I don't see them releasing brawn or grimlock because...again Takara is weird about that stuff.
