"For fans who can't wait, the Blu-ray release in September will deliver an awesome ride with the movie in stunning 1080p high definition and a 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack that was personally overseen by our phenomenal supervising sound mixer just for the Blu-ray," said director Michael Bay. "As you know, we put a lot of effort into the 3D experience for the theatrical release and I want to make sure we get it right for home viewing--and that process takes time. So stay tuned for an even more incredible release that will include the film on Blu-ray 3D and loads of bonus features."

From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg, in association with Hasbro, Transformers: Dark of the Moon explodes with high-octane action when a mysterious event from Earth's past erupts into the present day threatening to bring a war to Earth so big that the TRANSFORMERS alone will not be able to save us. Stars Shia LaBeouf (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Josh Duhamel (Life As We Know It), Tyrese Gibson (Four Brothers) and John Turturro (The Good Shepherd) have returned along with a host of new stars including Patrick Dempsey ("Grey's Anatomy"), Frances McDormand (Fargo) and John Malkovich (Beowulf). The film also features the voices of Leonard Nimoy ("Star Trek") and Hugo Weaving (Captain America: The First Avenger) and introduces newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The Transformers: Dark of the Moon Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 7.1 Dolby TrueHD and--in a first for Paramount Home Entertainment--English 5.1 Discrete Dolby Digital and English 2.0 Discrete Surround Dolby Digital tracks, each of which was individually mastered to ensure optimal sound for the home entertainment experience. The disc additionally features French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, Portuguese 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description with English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.

Epic Marketing Support

The Transformers: Dark of the Moon Blu-ray and DVD debut will be supported by a massive marketing and promotional campaign befitting the mega-hit status of the franchise. In addition to a multi-million dollar advertising blitz spanning television, print, radio and online, a stellar array of allies has joined forces with Paramount Home Entertainment to transmit the AUTOBOTS' message to all inhabitants of the globe.

Hasbro will host a "Roll Out In PRIME Style" sweepstakes in the U.S. giving entrants the chance to "Win a Ride to School" with the AUTOBOTS! The grand prize winner will be picked up by BUMBLEBEE and transported to school where OPTIMUS PRIME will be waiting with TRANSFORMERS toys and products in his trailer. Details are available at http://www.TransformersPrimeStyle.com.

Also in the U.S., Hostess will feature TRANSFORMERS images on millions of packages and will have thousands of displays in grocery and convenience stores across the country. The company will also host a branded "Transform Your Treat" sweepstakes that gives consumers the chance to win a variety of valuable prizes. Additionally, Hostess will offer consumers a $4 rebate on the purchase of Transformers: Dark of the Moon Blu-ray or DVD with purchase of two (2) Hostess products (additional details available at http://www.hostesscakes.com). i appreciate the advance warning about the double dip, now i can wait. :)

of course just like avatar, you'll have people bitch and moan when the 2nd version hits because they bought this one anyway even though in both case, we are warned ahead of time. lol

i'm guessing this will be a barebones release or just have a few things. but they said "coming months" so i figure the deluxe version will hit in nov. or dec.

Why would it? All the "bonus and extended" footage from the other 2 movies was all useless human crap that did nothing to add to the "plot" of either movie. What makes you think this will change with DOTM? Bay and company had no interest in furthering the Transfomers mythos, stories, or movie plots. They were only a necessary evil for the action, and all the "plot" and "story" went towards Shia the Beef and the useless, American Pieesque, teen comedy love story. And all the rest of the extras are about Bay or ego stroking Bay, with very little about the Transformers. I doubt this will change with the release of DOTM on dvd.

Sorry about the loathing rant, but the last 2 movie extras on the dvd releases have left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. I am excited about DOTM on dvd. I enjoyed it, particularly the last hour, hour and a half. All the good stuff after The Beef's all important and plot advancing job hunt, and the very believable love story between him and Rosie Can't-Act.

Wich is why "Doesn't neccesarily mean" was added there, go figure. I know bay is a bit of a jocky for the human bits, but TF3 focused alot on both human AND robot interactions, so, I think TF3 COULD have the extra footage we all want, but probably wont, hence the "Now does it?"

I'll buy this version. I doubt the "loads of bonus features" will be worth waiting for.

I'm happy to hear it's coming out so soon. I was about to go and pay to see it in the Imax again with my cousin.

Not in Hasbro's control. Did you read the full press release? Special editions/box sets and 2-Disc sets will be released later this year, most likely at Christmas.

Walmart.com has listed a preorder for an exclusive Transformers Dark of the Moon Blu-ray. This version appears to be the Blu-ray only rather than the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy that was mentioned in yesterday's official press release. The listing also reveals alternate cover art featuring Sentinel Prime. Priced at $29.99 with an online price of $19.96 and scheduled to release September 30th.

Movie Description
The following content was provided by the publisher.

The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) has to come to the aid of his robot friends.

Crap, the preorder listing is Blu-ray only? I guess I will wait for the more expensive one then. Although I love my blu-ray player, if I wanted to take the movie over to watch with my nephew or pop it into my dvd player in my bedroom while I'm having a lazy Sunday, I wouldn't be able to. Plus I like the Optimus cover way more then that bastard Sentinel being on the cover.

I wouldn't panic just yet. A BD/DVD/DC combo will be available that day. I'm sure Wal-Mart's exclusive art will be on it. Wal-Mart's exclusive artwork for ROTF IMAX was DVD and BD

Anyone have a confirmation either way if the Walmart exclusive has anything besides the movie?

I really like the Sentinel cover, but I'd like to at least get the digital copy as well.

None of us caught this....

Both Wikipedia and Wal-Mart says it's 157 minutes long. The theatrical version is 154 minutes long. That means Wal-Mart's exclusive is not just artwork, but three minutes of extra footage. And we know Bay filmed the Twins destroying a Smart car, so I'm assuming that scene will be added to the film.

Might explain why their single BD is more expensive than other single discs.

Every exclusive cover will just be the blu ray and single dvd disc version only. I'm still debating if I'm waiting to hold off on buying it because I really want the trilogy release with the special edition/behind the scenes specials.
