"I was taken aback by the response and the sheer love that was in the audience," he said.
"It became quite evident that (voicing this character) was a responsibility that I wanted to fulfill. I had no idea he was so popular."
Cullen also discusses reprising his most famous role for the big screen movies as well as appearing opposite Frank Welker once again in Transformers: Prime. He even talks about his own personal Optimus Prime toy!
The article also talks with fellow Prime cast member and veteran voice actor Steve Blum who discusses how fun it is to play villains like Starscream.
Thanks go to CNN iReporters and Seibertronians Shaun Martens, Kevin Farren, Cody Helms who point out in the article that the best place to find Transformers news and good conversation with other collectors and fans is our very own Seibertron.com.

Ah man, guess I might as well give up then. Anyone interested in taking almost every Transformers comic off my hands, since evidently I'm not a fan because I prefer the comics to the cartoons?
It's statements like this that earned us the reputation as the worst fandom out there a few years ago. I'd really hoped we'd outgrown that finally.

"Those two guys love each other," said executive producer Jeff Kline. "They're so obviously happy together that you get better stuff from the cast. That stamp of approval on what we were doing went a long way with the fan community, as well." '
It's a pity Bay & Co. lacked this insight.

Good, thought for a moment I was the only one who thought this.

Guessing you didn't read the article where Frank was mentioned and Cullen and Blum's comments about the respect they have for him huh?
I think this guy just read the tidbit that was just posted on this website, and not read the actual article.

Do you mean biggest as in fattest?

Seriously? Even worse than the Naruto and Twilight fandoms?

Kind of a bold statement, isn't it?
There are plenty other true fans out there with different likes and dislikes about all of the TF fandom.
Just because your opinion varies that does not mean that you are right. It is simply "what you think of it" and some may agree or disagree.
And just a FYI you sound extremely arrogant with this statement. Next time before you post something as silly as this, type the post up, minimize the browser, walk away from the computer for a few minutes, come back and re-read what you posted. s
Sometimes we post out of sheer passion and let our emotions get in the way of reason.
Oh and it was a cool article too..

If i was Frank i would be voicing my opinion. I wish the would do a re-edited Transformers movies with Franks voice instead of Hugo Weaving and add the Corresponding Transformers Theme song somewhere in the movies. And u call yourselves transformers fans. I am the biggest fan in the world and i don't like it when people trample on my childhood dream.
Can someone tell me who the heck Frank WelkNER is?
I'm surprised no one else has noticed this. THe thing about Frank though is that, even though his voicing of Megsy is iconic, he's had roles that are much more iconic to the general populace- most notably as Freddie in virtually every Scooby Doo ever made; I suggest looking up his IMDC...the list is frickin HUGE. For Peter Cullen however, Optimus is his truly defining role and the one that everyone knows him for...especially with the success of the Bay movies in popular culture. Frank may be Megatron for us fans (and pretty much just to us fans), but Peter IS Optimus Prime to a much larger portion of the populace.

If you watched Voltron you should recognize Cullens voice from the intro.
But you are correct, Welker is not dubbed the man of 1000 voices for nothing..

(He did pave the way for the likes of Welker & Cullen)

Huh. You know...I'm not even sure what this means. I'm a Transformers fan from back in the day, and I like just about everything that Transformers encompasses. I don't let anyone trample on my childhood dreams because I just don't think about other people's opinions in that way. Besides, it doesn't make you a fan or not based on whose voice you prefer over another's. That's extremely narrow-minded. Hopefully you were just having a bad day and that came out wrong.
I got the honor of meeting Peter Cullen, and it was a highlight of my first ever BotCon adventure! The kid in front of me burst into tears after meeting him. I wasn't scared or nervous until I walked up to him and didn't know what to say! It was very emotional - very strange experience, but I guess that's just how much we admire the man. I got his autograph, got a picture with him, thanked him and that's a memory that will make me smile every time I have it!
Oh, and the article is good too!

I'm just finished volume 2 of Voltron and yep, Cullen is in that series. He also has a major role in the vehicular Voltron series.

No doubt. Welker and Cullen are damned good, but no one will EVER compare to the late great Mel Blanc- a man who will always be remembered as the greatest voice actor ever. I remember when he died...there were a number of posters that came out with the entire Looney Tunes cast looking down in reverence near an empty mic with the word "Speechless" below it. He was unbelievable and I believe the world misses him dearly to this day.
