For those who prefer a pictorial review site sponsor Kapow! Toys has provided such for Transformers Generations Voyager Class Springer. Check out the review and images below. He's currently in-stock at Kapow! Toys at the following link:

Dribble, drool, wibble...........................um this guy is slightly.................awesome ??? As a kid watching the 86 movie Springer stood out for me as one of the coolest characters ever, he says the line ''I've got better things to do tonight die'' for goodness sake but his toy was ever so slightly naff even for the 7 year old me so fast forward 26 years and Hasbro have just dumped one of the most amazing pieces of green plastic ever on the fandom and you simply must own it. I'm not one to normally go overboard from the point of view that we're an active business selling these things and it can come across as a sales tactic but this really is a triumph, the robot mode is Roche style perfection with nice clicky joints and the ability to either wield both weapons or carry one on his back whilst using the other, the colours are spot on with the only minor gripe being that the Autobot insignia could be bigger, to top it off he is capable of almost any pose you want, its a true action figure.

On to the alt modes, armored car is great, it does somewhat resemble something G.I.Joe would use crossed with a Batmobile but in my book that a whole lot of awesome and not much fail. The sword can be stored on the bottom of the car whilst the gun becomes a rocket launcher that can pivot up and down thanks to the hinge in the actual handle, the rockets themselves are activated by pushing the mechanism forward
rather than spring loaded which can sometimes be a pain for adult collectors due to the loss potential thanks to family pets, kids or misfires.

Helicopter mode is again very very nice with a great aesthetic and a nice tight transformation, the futuristic element is there as it does not resemble any current earth bound helicopters but its a necessity for a toy which is switching through 3 modes. The blades spin freely and you can mount the cannon under the nosecone ( not shown )

Overall it might be because I'm simply blown away but this guy scores 9.5/10

Nice work Hasbro, more of this please.

Personally, I would have scored it a perfect 10.

On a side note, will Kapow also judge Blitzwing accordingly? I'd like to see more reviews of him.

After hearing about Blitzwing the other day, this is very relieving news. I wish there were more pictoral reviews though. They're short and just get to the point.

This figure is glorious! Seeing it makes me wish for a Classics update to Hot Rod in the worst way, and for Hasbro to give us Arcee, a proper Ultra Magnus and a more G1 accurate Blurr!!

He actually goes quite well with the existing one because they're both IDW versions. :)

This figure looks absolutely amazing. Just judging by what I see here I think I'm going to agree completely with the reviewer.

That looks really nice. I don't think I've ever seen a triple changer pull off all 3 modes so well before.

i love the triple changers.. even though they were never very good, i always appreciated the effort. As a kid the only one i had was broadside and man was he a crap toy. However i still loved him, loved his profile too. I recall many hours thinking as a kid about how much better the toy could've been only if they did this or did that...

later.. I had sandstorm who was a very well designed toy in comparison, also had his counterpart octane, again flawed but immense fun. Its a pity that generations astrotrain and octane weren't voyagers.. would've been a nice battle with jetfire.

I've ordered blitzwing, in spite of the reviews he looks awesome, the criticism is mainly regarding the transformation and materials. I keep mine on display in robot mode so it won't affect me too much. I'm thinkin of gettin a KO g1 blitzwing and broadside at this point...

I have a feeling they'll somehow retool springer into sandstorm, and hopefully they'll one day address broadside.

I'd call him perfect if his legs didn't bend outwards... but he does look amazing.

No, it's a necessity for a toy that is based on an outdated vision of the future ;)

While I agree a more G1-esque Blurr would have been preferred, I'd kill to get hold of the figure which they gave us. The key thing for me personally now, is the for Hasbro to Arcee!

Yeah, the only thing that's keeping him from flawlessness is that outward bend to his legs. I think this is to facilitate his helicopter transformation. DOTM Skyhammer (another gem of a helicopter-former) also has this weird outward bend to his legs.

I think that applies more to Hot Rod that anyone else in the TF universe.

Arcee, Blurr and Kup are supposed to have Cybertronian modes as opposed to futuristic Earth modes, right? :-?

Well, technically speaking, when they made their debut in the animated movie back in the 80's, it was never stated if their alternate modes were of Cybertronian origins or of Earth-based machinery.

You know, as opposed to that metaphorical handle which stubbornly doesn't move an inch. ;)

I really am impressed with this figure, and the only reason I haven't already forked out for it is I'm waiting to see what Takara does with it.

Lets hope we can actually get this guy. I've never seen Grimlock or Blaster locally, and at nearly every online outlet they're $40.

I've seen a glut of Grimlocks around me, course I couldn't wait so I went to a my tf dealer an paid a couple extra bucks. Only ever saw one Blaster at a walmart but I left him there cause I already had the Soundwave mold... I can forgive the Soundwave car but if Blaster ain't a boombox then keep walkin way I look at it

Personally I like having him transformed like this

I think he looks like a cybertronian boombox like that :D

and since this will be placed on the Classics shelf, what do I do with GDO Springer? This one is far better.

^I put mine with my Movie TFs since he's a movie mold and I already had Defender. Not the best fit since the face is so G1, but it's all I could think of.
