Dang, Amazon has a bunch of figures with a nice discount! In addition to Trypticon, they have the platinum triple changers at $35, Silverbolt & Cyclonus at $15, and a few more.

I'm thinking the exact same thing and also holding out. I'm guessing he's not selling well if Amazon dropped his price 2x, once for a few hours and then basically all day today. Maybe everyone is holding out lol

My take on this is that they know full well this is the right price we was supposed to be at or at least anywhere between 120-140$.

Interestingly enough, Hasbro will reveal the result tomorrow. Let's see if we regret passing on trypticon at $120.

I dont get why one would have to pass or not depending on the result. These two toys are for totally different collections. Any modern fan who is used to articulation would probably not see the appeal to G1 Trypticon and any fan of the G1 toys looking for a G1 trypticon in their collection wouldnt be satisfied by the new titan. What I am trying to say is that these are two different toys for two different collections and I dont see why one would replace the other or getting one is dependent on another existing or not. Each will intereact with the toys of their own generations anyway. At least thats how I see it.
For me, the reason I am not too excited about Titan Trypticon is because his transformation wont be that interesting or involved. It's a very basic Transformer, just as Metroplex was. That of course can have tremendous appeal to some.

I hear what you're saying, which I agree with from a collector's point of view. But I consider myself more of a causal fan. My attachment is solely to the G1 cartoon that I grew up watching. I haven't seen 1 episode of any other Transformers cartoon and don't read the comics. As a casual fan, I'm really only interested in having 1 toy per character, and preferably an updated toy vs an 80s reissue. As long as it resembles the G1 character, I'm happy. I personally don't care as much about sophistication of the transformation.
So in the case of trypticon, I would hate to spend $120 + tax on a reissue and then learn that an updated version that I would find more fun to play with is coming out relatively soon. If i knew that a titan version would never come out, I'd be perfectly happy with the reissue.

Well in that case, you will never regret not getting this toy. Because even if they dont make trypticon next year they will the next. We now know that it is in their heads and at least past the planning stage (and probably design as well, since they have a 2 year productions schedule). So yeah, I would suggest you dont get the G1 toy, he's really more for nostalgia or collectors curious to experience older toys. Skylynx though is a rare exception where the original would be better than the upcoming update if the goal is for it to resemble G1 as much as possible (he was also re-released).

They actually look really cool, fits my sense of aesthetics pretty well, I'd say $75 isn't bad, especially if you need/like the look of them, I payed $60 for my Salvia Prominon, and these are a little bigger, right? So that seems fair.

If they are MP size/quality they may be worth $75. I think a better question is; if you're jumping in blind would you commit to $225 for three? I'd rather test the waters with one first.

They're voyager size. Reviews have been largely positive. They come as that set, so the question is whether I'm willing to drop 225 on 3. Right now... meh.

I concur with the meh. Getting one would be interesting to try out but getting all 3 at once not knowing if I would like it and not having any of the other 3 seekers in that class to pose with just doesnt sound that exciting. Actually, now I am getting a bit puzzled. I knew 3p items were more expensive than Hasbro, 2 times maybe 3 times the price and these are 3 times a hasbro voyager at full retail, each. How expensive was this stuff without the sale?! I dont know, I feel I get more for my money when buying MP 3ps.

According to BBTS and the interweb in general around $300. I don't watch a lot of 3p stuff, but igear has been a brand I've watched for a minute or two. It seems their figures are high then get severe discounts on clearance. I've been eyeing their minibots for sometime now and I picked up their Manatee figure on discount from BBTS. I also got their replacement Generations Kup head directly from them some time ago. I'm very impressed with both. The plastic is very nice, the joints are tight and he's a posable lil guy (Manatee, not the head ), but I do not feel that he would have been worth their original asking price.william-james88 wrote:Actually, now I am getting a bit puzzled. Value and what a figure is worth is very subjective, so I'm not going to try and comment on those seekers. But if it helps, I will say that Manatee is a cool lil GI Joe-esk figure and is well worth the $13.50 asking price (not counting shipping of course).

I have the Thundercracker raptor, and I love him. I think its a little higher quality then Hasbro is currently putting out, feels heavier and far more solid then CW Magnus. I highly recommend them. Especially if you like/want a representation of IDW's F-22 Raptor seeker design. Pricey, but worth it to me.

Yeah, but it comes out super expensive because of the exchange. The shipping aint cheap, and Amazon charges an up front customs fee, so it gets ridiculous and most deals are just not worthwhile. Hence why you may feel we give amazon the cold shoulder. That was what Kanrabat was talking about when calculating the price above. The only thing worthwhile from amazon.com this past year were those Transformers Go dragons but they were coming from japan anyways so the shipping was free regardless if you were in the US or Canada.

I'm CANADIAN. Shipping and import fees alone cost 40$US total. I just can't imagine what it would be for an European or An Asian or an Australian or an African...
Or an Antartican while we're at it. No, rerally, how much would it cost to ship a big Tf to an Antartican base?
Seriously, I ordered a couple of things that I really wanted from Amazon.com, despite the shipping and import fees. Worthwhile when the overal price is relatively acceptable and I cant find the thing elsewhere. Beside, I LOVE Amazon's import fees.
Why?
Because most of the times, the overall bill is too low and the import fees are refunded one or two weeks after I receive my package if no customs hit. If the import fees were not there, AND if customs strike, I would have to pay an extra 10-15$CAN EXTRA on top of the customs taxes in punitive fees.
So, even if Amazon.com import fees seem bad at first glance, they are a lifesaver really. Now, if only Ebay's import charges would be refunded too if no customs hit.....

It's the shipping cost that really scares off the potential buyers. A great piece to acquire if possible. (My version cost me around $ 20.00 back in 1991 no manual, complete decal and cr@ppy box but minty content)

That movie chronicle megatron set used to be crazy expensive, but now I see it for 142$ shipped https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?siteid=0&pub=5574891718&campid=5336631220&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FTakara-TOMY-Tra%20...%20SwKrhVaFYT%3C%2Fa%3E%3F
Does anyone remember how much it was when it originally came out? Is this a good deal?
STOP THE PRESSES, IT 5% OFF!!!!.......From a 50% INCREASE of the price. Originally, the thing was around 100$ + shipping.
So, no. Not a good deal.
Still, it's the only place to have a premium looking DOTM voyager megs. But is it worth 150$? The G1 Megs have no accessories beside the arm canon/visor and his colors are all wrong.
