Yeah, onslaught was the same way - I thought they were being cheeky in showing us which figure in the case they figured we'd be buying;
You should do the smart thing and just order the case, I did
Naw, I just hold off on preordering guys. They always end up showing up to me in the store or on another online site in stock at a much better price for the ones that I want, and not have to get extras

Yeah, but I need me both of these guys - especially Sky Lynx, so, for retail, why not; I don't want to risk missing either of these guys (moreso than any previous wave, hts is spotty, and my local stores are worse - but I'll wait on the wave 1 limbs for hts) So, I'll support bbts

BBTS has been good to me, especially with their PoL and reduced shipping rates. Don't tell anyone, but I've been moon lighting with TFSource.Hellscream9999 wrote:Yeah, but I need me both of these guys - especially Sky Lynx, so, for retail, why not; I don't want to risk missing either of these guys (moreso than any previous wave, hts is spotty, and my local stores are worse - but I'll wait on the wave 1 limbs for hts) So, I'll support bbts

Yeah, but they seem to get less variety than bbts, they don't take shipment of any rid stuff, nor do they seem to break up cases in which popular figures are in (but I'm far from an expert)

I pre-ordered him anyway before they sold out. Worse comes to worse, I can always cancel if I find him cheaper somewhere else beforehand.
Still a little disappointed there's no Legends size figure to go with Sky Reign. They should've redecoed Powerglide into Hot House or something.

It's just hedging their potential loss on splitting the case. Onslaught is a repack here, so all the Onslaughts left orphaned have potential to sit around and end up on clearance. If they were really trying to get one over or commit, as you say, "HIGHWAY F***IN' ROBBERY!" on consumers, then the set of both Sky Lynx and Onslaught would be running $60 and not $50. It is not.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:carytheone wrote:Big bad toy store has their Pre-orders up for CW Sky Lynx $34.99.

I'm a bit frustrated with other things BBTS does lately, so it pains me a bit to defend them, but I think fairness should be applied before throwing around accusations like the one here.

Wait Onslaught is a repack? I just automatically assumed this one is the one with the running color change we've heard about...

I haven't bought a transformer from a brick and mortar store in more than a year. Not because I don't want to but because they simply don't have them. My Walmart has a great big empty section where transformers are supposed to go but they don't have any. It's pretty ridiculous.

What about Walmat.com or Toysrus.com ? Or amazon.com? I am sure they wont charge 35$. I do all my shopping online, but from those retailers rather than specialty shops.

I don't think Wreck Gar interacts with Sky Reign in any way. I might be wrong, but it doesn't look like he can connect or be held by the combiner as some kind of weapon.

It's more a very frustrating thing when a figure is being sold individually for that much. I can see why they are doing that with Onslaught, but at the same time, that individual cost is just crazy. I bought leader RotF Jetfire for $35 at walmart, and that was the baseline price not a sale, so it looks a little ridiculous that a 2016 voyager costs the same on a big online retailer for 2009 leader prices.
It just really disgusts me to see businesses using that strategy here.

They could easily fix it if the preorders were set in stone, or if you paid in advance. They woudl guarantee their cashflow and afford to lower the price since their sale was guaranteed.
So here is my question to you guys, would you rather no longer be abl to cancel your preorders? Or pay an extra amount for more sought after figures?

I would rather take a cheaper route. If I make a preorder, I'd keep it rather than preorder a figure for a more expensive price and then be able to cancel it. I try to be more patient, and so far I haven't lost out on a figure I really wanted. I managed to snag Skids and Swerve for retail prices when we thought they would be cancelled a few years back, and I snagged the Brainstorm that was harder to find as the last thrilling 30 figure for a few bucks less than retail, all because I waited.
Now I fully understand others wanting to preorder to guarantee the figure and not minding prices, and I have nothing against them. I just prefer to wait and see. As a result, I only have ever preordered 1 figure, and it was expensive but I got the figure. and at the same time the figure was an exclusive, so that was the route I needed to take. But knowing that a figure is a mainline figure and will be distributed means I don't need to go preorder, it means I can just wait for a better price.
I didn't mean to come off rude in my original post about this, but it just angered me to see them selling off the more desired voyager in a wave for such a heavy cost.

I figured it was just a way to prevent scalping, I mean, it made sense for the wave 1 case, NO ONE really wanted Scatternot, so they probably figured (correctly) that there'll be a lot of those warming shelves for a while, but with this one, I think onslaught will sell out irregardless of how many they get, he is one of the better combiners after all...

Yeah sometimes I can catch them there. Amazon.com is decent sometimes. I usually have the best luck with HTS. But I defiantly have a hard time finding anything at my local stores. Usually I don't mine paying a little extra at BBTS to make certain I get one but $10 over retail is too much. $29.99 I would not have thought twice but for some reason $35 just seems way too steep.

I completely understand. Its not just the 10$ extra now its how you dont want to encourage a continuing trend. 10$ today aint so bad but if every new voyage that shares a wave with a less popular one ends up being 10$ more, it adds up quick. Thats an easy 50$ more in a year. So while the amount itself isnt much nominally, the trend it encourages could make quite a blow in the grand scheme of budgetting for our hobby.

Indeed, I (we) haven't seen production versions of the green onslaught yet, but if it's anything like the painted ones at botcon, I think that they'll have won me over, it looks really nice

TFSource is a tiny bit shady like this. The one tactic they do I hate the most is how they describe the the TTMall exclusives which they can only get as the Hasbro Asia version. The Hasbro Asia version is not in any way exclusive (aside from the fact that you wont find it in stores) and as limited as any other Hasbro release (like the Zodiac or Platinum releases, so not limited at all). But they still want you to buy the product and to make you feel like you are getting a limited/exclusive product (which you arent, only the Japan edition is limited in terms of you getting a limited special price). So this is how they write their blurb:http://tfsource.com/masterpiece/mp-11nr-ramjet/
This highly sought after masterpiece brings the popular seeker Ramjet to the Takara Tomy lineup with an all new color scheme and exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall! This is the Asian market release of this product, and highly limited in its release.
They twist it around to make you think you are getting one of the 2000 limited TTMall toys. But you arent. You are getting the more expensive, less limited version. It is not highly limited in it's release, there is no actually number given. The only truly accurate line is what I put in bold.
I understand them of course, they have an expensive product to sell so they do their best to sell it and make the buyer feel good about their purchase. But it's still phrased to make the buyer think something which is not true and one step away from a bold faced lie. And they write this for every one of these.

They do this with each wave, wave 3 was rook, this one's vortex... he should be up by this evening if the pattern follows suit

Honestly they're $.50 less each at bbts if you get them as a case, if it matters to you, but I want to see if any promos come out, I don't think there were any around the time the aerialbots came out either - cuz just after christmas and stuff

And while the shipping price for me is true, all those combaticons are at my TRU and my raincheck has them for about 15$ cdn which is 10.45$ US. STILL its not like I get paid in US$. So for the sake of comparing living conditions and buying power, lets just say that I can just walk into a store and pick up a combaticon for 15$. Being in a major metropolis, the only time you cant find a toy is when a particular store chain simply never gets it. Like legends groove, which was never found at TRU Canada.
But hey Va'al, at least me and Kanrabat no longer complain about the lack of french on the box. Remember those days?

BUT, they charge in US. So gee thanks. And since they are in canada then I cant hope to avoid taxes, I get taxed right off the bat. While I understand the business practice of using the US Dollar, it totally takes away any goodwill they may have had. All they really are now is BBTS and TFSource who charge 10$ for shipping regardless of where you are in the us or how much you buy. And what I despise is that all their Hasbro Asia figures who are TTmal exclusives in Japan has "TTMALL exclusive" plastered on the listign with NO sign that it is instead the Hasbro Asia Version. Only the Japan release is a TTMall exclusive, what they are selling isnt.
