So does Kup, but that then implies that Cliffjumper will be SS86 13. Did we even have Cliff leaked for SS86 yet? If not, this all but confirms it I think.

I think the painted windshield looks substantially better... Obviously it doesn't make the shoulders look higher, but the upper torso looks way more cohesive.
I can also appreciate it looks like they added just a little bit of paint/line work that was seen in the movie to show his "age".
Anyway, as I look at this new version, I want it. I'm going to get it as soon as I can.
*Edit*
Although it probably doesn't matter now...
I have done a 180 with Cliffjumper... What initially was kind of mehhh (and I think I was kind of distracted by the window paint) has turned into a very-much-going-to-buy-this situation.
This is substantially better enough for me that I'll try and sell my ER version.
This kind of makes me wonder if this subline is going to bring us a Magenta Hot Rod. Which I'm very in favor of!
Imo it seems unlikely that Buzzworthy is going to stop with two characters... Especially these two.

Maybe the Cliffjumper that comes out in the Studio Series 86 line proper will have unpainted blue plastic windows, but otherwise have the same deco as the Buzzworthy Bumblebee release, similar to what we see with SS86-02 Kup.

It’s possible, although Buzzworthy is a little weird with releases and numbering. For example, AOE High Octane Bumblebee was repacked in a Buzzworthy 2-pack with Stinger as a newly numbered SS figure, but by all indications it won’t be getting a single release. SS-74 ROTF Bumblebee was single packed in Buzzworthy as an early release before showing in the mainline though.
Kup just seems like such a weird choice for Buzzworthy, do Kup and Bumblebee ever interact?

That's the only thing I'm really iffy on too, honestly. But, it's not a dealbreaker for me. The mix of gray and black plastic/paint for the robot mode limbs is perfectly on model with the G1 cartoon and movie, and he actually has an Autobot symbol on this release too! (Why did Earthrise omit that?) My hope is that we do see a SS86-13 Cliffjumper in the proper Studio Series line next year, then the deco will also be a little different, like this BB Kup, but it will only omit the painted windows. That's the best of both worlds for me!

You could use them as clones, created by the Decepticons to infiltrate and sabotage the Autobots.sol magnus wrote:The funny thing is Kup looks more movie accurate in Buzzworthy Bumblebee. And Cliffjumper with gray limbs is more cartoon accurate as well.

I have that feeling too, and, if Hasbro is really smart, they can do without any transparent plastic for that release, which should make some collectors worried about the SS86 release of Jazz's fragility very happy.

Not in any slightly significant way that would bear association. But neither did Fangry. The Buzzworthy line is proving to just be a way to have more product on shelves. Hasbro probably saw that more Kup was needed based on orders and this is how they are satisfying predicted demand.

I look forward to the kind of people who buy those Toyhax cel shaded windshield stickers selling their ER Cliffjumpers off at or near cost to fund purchasing this version.

Ah, that's right. Speaking of that pack, I wonder if we'll see a reissue of the Bumblebee from that pack or Netflix Bee in Buzzworthy, like what we're seeing with Cliffjumper here.

I think o.supreme is carrying on the speculation that Cliffjumper is destined for the SS86 line itself based on his number designation and SS86 branding.
As for me, we'll see what happens. G1 accuracy was never my bag so these don't do a lot for me. Happy for those who like them though.

As for Cliff...they added two Autobot symbols? No mistaking his allegiamce now. I wonder if the windows are still translucent under the paint, and if so, how hard it would be to wipe off (carefully) with acetone...

Kup and Cliffjumper with slightly altered decos is a weird choice though I kinda get it. I assume this is partly Target wanting an exclusive line to compete with Walmart's Netflix line.

I think there is a good chance that Buzzworthy Cliff might be similar to High Octane Bee (SS79) and get a number, but only be released in the Buzzworthy line with no separate release on his own in SS86. We already know the wave assortments for all of Studio Series and Cliff wasn't on it at all.

Yes, sort of? Targets near me have recently been putting cases of the last 3 Deluxe waves out, which included the re-releases of Kup, Blurr and Jazz, but it is somewhat random as to which stores had which cases.

If they made another character SS86 13 in the SS line proper, that would be all sorts of convoluted and asinine. Also like SS74 which arrived in Buzzworthy first before getting a release in SS packaging, I fully expect SS79 and this new deco Cliffjumper to do the same.

I'm not sure what we're arguing about here. The BB figure is SS86 13BB. There won't be an SS86 13, because this Cliffjumper is the SS version. I can't imagine what an SS86 13 Cliffjumper would be other than this. They wanted a cartoon redeco and to reuse the Moonbase backdrop, so this is where it wound up.
Edit: I think I get it now, you're saying it'll be a straight re-release at mass retail. Maybe, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

I wouldn't bet anything on either SS86-13 Cliffjumper or SS79 High Octane Bee getting a single regular release in SS/SS86. We have already seen the wave case breakdowns for all of 2022 and they are not in them. The only unknowns were a few of the Target exclusives, but that would make zero sense to release either one as a regular line/regular packaging Target exclusive when they both just got Buzzworthy Target exclusives. Both appear to be oddballs that got a SS/SS86 number assigned, but were only available as part of the Buzzworthy sub-line.

And I think you might be misinterpreting what Zelda and I were indicating.
I was simply saying, I don't think SS86-13 Cliff will get a regular release since we already know of the wave breakdowns for regular releases and he isn't in them. That would leave the only potential option for a regular packaging release for him to be one of the Target SS exclusives (like Leadfoot was). But that also doesn't make sense in that they would be giving the same figure as an exclusive twice in the same year to the same store. The exact same thinking applies to SS79 High Octane Bee, but he is more obvious with how old and terrible of a figure that is.
What I think Zelda was saying is that for the Buzzworthy subline, the normal rules of SS86 going for screen accuracy don't seem to apply, it is just a catch-all line for putting product out that doesn't necessarily have to follow the "rules" of the lines they are borrowing from.

That goes back to my original point as well. I am well aware that Buzzworthy is a catch all line. So if Hasbro going to rerelease ER Cliffjumper in it, why not just use the ER designation? Or no number at all? Putting a SS designation on ER Cliffjumper strongly implies a very different thing, even if it is in Buzzworthy packaging.

With the exception of Origins Bumblebee, and Worlds Collide, all of the BB Deluxes are in SS. Plus Cliffjumper's redeco is cartoon-inspired, so it's a better fit for SS than the original WfC.
I think the fandom gives way too much credence to product lines. They're important to retailers because they help them sell the figures. They're not a priority for production, as the TFTM Kingdom and SS86 figures clearly complemented each other and were likely developed together before being reassigned to different lines, probably for marketing reasons or similar release concerns like size classes and case allotments.

While the figure is disappointing, I'm still glad for him. Because I wasn't collecting SS when the line started and missed out on Stinger. $40 with a crappy AoE re-release is still a pretty good price for Stinger as compared to eBay. Thankfully it looks like they are not releasing it on its own and its only real purpose was to be a Bee to face off against Stinger in the 2-pack.
I will fully support a new mold at some point in the future to get its own SS number and leave SS79 by the wayside.

Or just overthink the mechanics behind them. Just because a supposed release would make sense given the logic, doesn't necessarily mean it will be true: Hasbro kinda shot themselves in the foot with deriving the BB SS ID's from the regular SS ones (I mean, they are re-releases in a sense), with High Octane Bumblebee and now ER Cliffjumper occupying possible slots for regular retail, leaving them empty in a sense.
Posted by blackeyedprime on December 7th, 2021 @ 12:27pm CST
Kup looks better. Clifjumper also looks better - I cant see the jagged windscreen that the original figure has. could just be the anggle or a retool as it's pretty noticable on the original.
I dont really need a thrid Kup with having TR/TL but I'd probably go for him. cliffjumper will only be if on sale due to the figures size.

It's part of the fun. The numbers were what inspired my to start collecting Alternators, a line I otherwise would have had no interest in, even though the real-world designs were awesome.
I don't collect SS at all, but I love following the numbers. Of course, they could just take them all away, as many other TF toy series never had numbers; problem solved. If numbers aren't important, then why feature them prominently on the package is all I'm asking?

With the exception of Siege, G1 Arcee could have been the single character to unite them all. G1 Prime is close to touching them all, but only if you include Bee movie Prime which is sort of a cheat.
