Additionally, thanks to a tip from Seibertronian Omegatron., we were pointed in the direction of the Transformers Botposting group on Facebook, we have an in hand image of the toy in truck mode.
Hopefully, we'll get a confirmation or reveal of this toy soon, but until we do, what do you all think? Let us know in the comments below!

The truck mode and Super Prime look amazing, I will reserver my thoughts on the cab Optimus after we get more images of him.
Until we get an official confirmation, I will assume there is mistransformation in the stock pictures.,

Here is a slightly less obscured image. Not much better, but a little clearer.

It doesn't look the same as the Takara one, Hasbro probably started afresh to make sure it hit the price point they wanted.

Looking at the two different images closely of the prototype and this leak, they 100% do not match.
Of course I don't doubt plans may have changed or maybe some parts had to be retooled to match newer safety standards - or heck, like you said it's probably to lessen parts counts to fit into the budget better.
But I also think they might do what the original toyline did by having a special combining OP and then a standard one alongside it with better articulation + the bells and whistles of current Legacy stuff!

Anyway, I got Blitzwing today, there was one going cheap at my local GAME, and he isn't as bad as I initially thought he would be. Yes the jet mode is horrible when looked at from any angle other than the top, but the robot and tank modes are perfectly fine for what they are. I certainly like him a lot more than I did Astrotrain.

Sabrblade wrote:Tell me something, Hasbro. Why is it so hard for you to get the shoulders right on Armada Optimus's standard robot mode? You failed to get them right on the original Super Base toy, successfully got them right on the Super-Con figure, and have now replicated the failure of the Super Base figure's shoulders on this figure. Heck, even Takara's prototype that they showed off with Selects Star Convoy had correct shoulders. Why, Hasbro? Why, outside of the Super-Con toy, do you insist on making Armada Optimus perpetually lifting his shoulders above his head?
There is no secret, except that because the SuperCon version is smaller they can make the engine compartment pieces that make his collarbone and shoulder joints thinner and lighter. Bigger figure, especially one that is supporting the weight of Torso Mode right through that area, needs better reinforcement
So there are thicker pieces that can't collapse as well.

Can we have Amrada Megatron now? I say let’s keep Legacy going for as long as we need to get some of those potential gems.

However, I was hoping that in the 20 years the original was released the engineering advanced enough to get around the problem somehow. But in the end, it's the same design as the original, except probably smaller and with lighter plastic. Nonetheless, the torso mode still requires the waist connection (which is the shoulders in non-combined node) to support the entire figure upside down, as well as any weapons he might hold, and hopefully eventually the weight of Overload as well.

I was hoping to see your post, this is probably the closest we'll get to a Masterpiece level figure. By the by, the person who runs the Preternia account on Twitter, it's an account that gives links when figures go up for PO and more importantly on sale, got to see this figure in hand. The person who has it is a known dealer of stolen toys and might be the person who supplies PvP and Chefatron. Anyway, the leaker is also someone known for watermarking their images with some rather abrasive language. The pics are out there if you want to see but be warned.

I noticed that as well. I wonder if this is like Legacy Menasor (in the sense that) the legs are swappable, but the arms are not...?
Or perhaps like OG Predaking, Monstructor, and Dinoking where the legs componants can be swapped, and the arms. But arms cannot be legs and vice versa (sort of a half-scramble combiner) .
IIRC other than the colors, the main difference between Monstructor and Dinoking was that in their "default" configuration, the limbs were the mirror opposite of each other.
I'm guessing Ryan kept the Dinoking limbs the same as Monstructor just to make it easier for a side-by-side
Of course you can arrange the limbs how you like, but in fiction, the official combinations are supposed to mirror each other:

i wish Volcanicus got some actual feet, but he looks pretty decent for a little guy combiner. I like him.

I try not to talk too much about insider baseball here, but this was a good call on your part. By all the posts being in the same spot, I was able to move them all at once. Plus I got to see the new pics posted by you in the process, so I'll do the news story now and give you credit. You once talked to me about good design vs bad design, how would you characterize these mini dinos?
Also, @ DMax. We can do a google chat sometime and i'll show you the ropes We will continue that discussion in private message if you want.

We also have an image of Volcanicus fully combined, giving you an idea of his size and how the newly revealed arms look like transformed. Please note that he is using 2 Grimlocks for the legs since Snarl, the final bot, is not yet revealed. That is also why "fully combined" remains in quotation marks.
“Hi Transformer fans! Playing a bit of catch up since I forgot we were revealing Core Class Swoop and Skarr so soon!
These guys form the arms of Volcanicus that you can see in the first few photos. This gives the combined form pretty standard DLX articulation. He has shoulder rotation and raising, Bicep swivels and his hands can accept 5mm port weapons.
You can see that the waist and leg joints of Swoop and Scarr give Volcanicus the arm articulation similar to how Combiner Wars figures worked a few years ago. I just think the combined form is pretty neat. We’ve just got Snarl left! Hopefully we’ll be showing off the last foot soon.
Swoop compacts nicely into his Pterodactyl form and his wings give the combined form a nice spiky arm detail. We were able to give him ball joint elbows since he’s not as bulky as the other dinosaur forms.
Attached at the end is my concept drawing for Skarr. I based my drawing off the Comic appearance drawn by Livio Ramondelli from the Monstrosity arc of the IDW continuity. I was afraid (loaded with anxiety) that he wouldn’t stand out/look like he belonged with the other Dinobots but I think we got there. He turned into quite a beefy tank by the end. He gives Volcanicus a mean left hook!
Hope you all are enjoying what we’ve shown so far and look forward to the last reveal for these Core Class Dinbots!”

On the other hand, the Armada love has given me hope for maybe some more diversity in the Legacy line. Armada, Energon, and Cybertron are not going to need much Geewunning so they can stay faithful to the source material. In fact, I'd love to see what new technology could do with some of the brilliantly inspired but horrificalily executed two-bot gestalts from Energon. Hopefully, they won't screw them over them like they did Prime Arcee and Bulkhead. And it's finally nice to move on from G1...
...I hope...
...maybe...
...please?...

I find the back to be more fiddly and fragile than 86 Jazz. The weapon is kinda cool but a touch unwieldy when combined.

Gobots Monstrous
Would love it if they did this, but that's much to extensive of a retool to pull off. Still, feels like there's some inspiration at play between Swoop and Grimlock.

I would consider them good design, for their price point. They're definitely fun desk toys, and their ability to combine is excellent, but with that being said, I'm not keen on the core class figures overall. Personally, I'd prefer Hasbro put more focus into the larger classes. I'd rather pay ~$24 for a good deluxe, than paying ~$12 for a tiny core figure with limited articulation.william-james88 wrote:You once talked to me about good design vs bad design, how would you characterize these mini dinos?

100% agree! However, in my opinion, Knockout isn't the worst offender. For me, it's the Legacy Armada Hot Shot... those knees are awful! (at least on my copy)william-james88 wrote:I really hate when the knees can easily be disconnected.
