Those big wastes of space non-transforming Prime figures may have started a halfway decent trend, but I'd still rather own a Mega/Black-Zarak knock-off than an official mega-mega-mega-mega-mega-SCF Scorpinok, even if he is big enough to face Fort Max eye-to-eye, and does look awesome.

They shouldn't be branded Transformers, but Non-Transforming Toys, if you ask me.
though it looks awesome, I think its more of a statue than a toy?
a shame we don't get mon infos on this

In any case, G1 Scorponok had some pretty lame alt modes anyway (Scorpion mode was basically a big black with some spindly limbs attached), and if not transforming gives him decent poseability and dynamic proportions, I'm in (or would if I had the budget). Who knows, maybe he's to scale with the Revoltech Transformers?

have to be cheaper than Metroplex... Metroplex has triple transformation.

They're also asking WAAAY too much money for this thing.

Not in every fight between God Ginrai and BlackZarak. Certainly not in the final episode battle, which was arguably their most famous fight.Poyguimogul wrote:and riding Grand Maximus

That is just completely pointless.
Posted by Blackstreak on July 27th, 2014 @ 8:20am CDT
Does it?
But I can see that question has already been answered so I won't be wasting my money on either of these statues.

Regardless, that thing is beautiful. I want one!

There is actually only one thing that "transforms" on G1 Scorp and that's the lower kegs and the stinger. It's soooo easy and simple that it could be easily pulled off with this "super articulated" figure.
I agree that it's a totally super awesome looking Scorponok though. I desperately want it but won't pay that price for it and I would always harbor resentment towards it because it doesn't transform when it so easily could be possible if following the G1 design. Which they slavishly followed with this action figure.

Sorry Takara, I love you, but this isn't quite good enough. Maybe if the model were more extreme I could excuse the lack of alt modes, but it isn't. They mainly just stripped off the bits necessary for its alt modes (bug legs and stinger/tail) and called it a day.
Exaaaaactly...'nuff said!

Delta Mgnus might have been referring to it being able to also transform into its City Mode in addition to the much less complex Scorpion Mode.MGrotusque wrote:Impossible? All you have to do to transform Scorponok is extend the bug legs out. Put his arms up over his head, fold his legs back on themselves at the knee and then plug in the stinger. Done.

Yeah, that. One of the big problems with getting it to transform, I think, is the extremely nice, stylized animesque proportions- almost all the components are tapered, exaggerated or deformed in such a way that it looks awesome (like Dreamwave except not awful) but that it would make folding the thing up rather difficult- the thing wouldn't fit flush together without lots of folding panels, ugly hinges and obvious breaks in the sculpt (or worse, partsforming). It's intended to be a really nice, faithful depiction of his robot mode as it appeared in the cartoon/anime, rather than an update on the original toy. A bit like the Trasformers Revoltechs and the like.
Also, AFAIK, Sentinel doesn't really do transforming figures.

I'd love to have this Scorponok, but US$500 is way to much for me.

Yeah. I see where your coming from. That pesky city mode. Forgot all about it to be honest.
I wonder why it's so expensive though. Sure it's a specialized and highly stylized figure but it doesn't transform. I also know it's a massive figure from a 3rd party.....MASSSIVE. It's unprecedented in those regards but i can't help but think it would be better for sales at a 300 dollar price tag instead of the rumored 5 bills asking price. I don't know if that number has actually been confirmed yet.

Hollowout the legs so they fold in, flip the arms up, rotate the cannons, tail flips out from behind, remove the head, and a scorpion head attaches in its place. How hard could it be ? I can understand no city mode, but no scorpion mode is plain stupid.
Because they are not Takara and it's not what they do.

Its stuff like this that spawned the existance of 3rd parties in the first place. I could easily see an up and coming company buy one just to reverse mold it and retool it to transform...
And they'll sell it like 200 bucks less and ill buy one.

True, but those figures are going to take up alot of real estate in warehouses if they didnt read the fans correctly. BBTS changed their system so you cant tell how many of one item they have in stock. But when you could, I remember a lot of items over $500 they would only keep 10 or less in stock. I dont see the retailers taking risk with this in great numbers. Just my opinion.

BUT.
five hundred bucks? seriously? hes the same size as fort max and generations metroplex, they transform, and cost half that. and im betting when those two 3rd party scorponoks hit the market, these things will be even more redundant.
