Would people really want a Shockwave or Astrotrain that was way taller then Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave?
The Leader size point also allows them to be less hollow and more solid.

I agree on most of your points, but honestly I would've loved an Astrotrain at full leader size. Since he's sometimes a transport unit for the entire Decepticon army I think it would make sense if he was a giant bruiser. I know it wouldn't be accurate to G1 but I like some more exaggerated size differences like MTMTE or Animated characters.
Love Shockwave just how he is, though.

I didn't ask for Astrotrain to be a Leader class to begin with. Him and Shockwave are rip offs. I'm sticking with the Takara Legends Astrotrain since Spinister is the only wave 5 figure that stands out in these pictures.Deadput wrote:Besides a few characters like Overlord most characters were way to damn big in the leader size class, at least in generations, Titans Return Blaster/Soundwave being an example.

It would be nice not to have the hands the size of a toddlers to hold shockwave in gun mode, so if ended up being bigger than megatron I'd be fine with it. Same if they do Galvatron or megatron with his gun mode. Even TR six shot could have done with being a little bit bigger than he was.
The TR soundwave/blaster may be oversized (and look cool in alt mode with titans) but at least its getting value for money instead of being ripped off with siege leaders for the most part price wise.

that said though, I love shockwave a ton, and astrotrain looks just as fantastic. so much so that I will get him and replace classics astrotrain on my shelf, which is my favorite classics figure, so thats saying something
back to scale however, astrotrain is a character who's scale seemed to fluxuate from episode to episode. like in the episode the god gambit he is huge, sometines shown much bigger then starscream, then in tripple takeover hes the same size as starscream.
this happened with Grimlock a bit too. hell, in season 3 he was the same size as rodimus is some episodes
... and now I want a new grimlock in the same scale as siege jetfire
decepticons are all about as tall as megatron. megatron and optimus were the same size, autobots were all smaller then optimus... yet somehow austobots were also the same size as the decepticons. Mass shifting isn't just for transforming (I know this isn't true across all episodes)

Those leader class figures werent meant to scale with the others, just with themselves as Budget MPs. But that reminds me, now they all feel ultra redundant since I have MPs anyway, might be time to sell.
I think people are more pissed at the idea that it says leader class and isnt a big toy, regardless if it would scale or not. Might be time to revert back to 5 years ago where there was at most 1 leader class toy a year.

I think the 50 price tag is part of the issue as well. For some reason, Magnus and Prime 'feel' like you're getting a 50 toy, whereas Shockwave and Astrotrain don't give that same 'feeling.'
I'm still getting Astrotrain, and what is saving it is that he segues into the next line. I might have to scoop up the Titans Return one to display him with Siege figures. So, I guess win for Hasbro.

Because value is based on the size of it obviously
That's why phones are the size of laptops right?
I would say that Soundwave and Blaster were not worth the money value because their worse toys then Shockwave, Shockwave's a good toy overall and I got my money's worth from it due to how often I fiddle with the guy as opposed to TR Soundwave who I fiddle with for a few days and put in a tub since there were better figures to not only fiddle with but to scale with my collection.

I would actually argue the opposite: I feel like my Blaster and Soundwave were better deals than Shockwave. i love Shockwave, but I think that Blaster and Soundwave were more fun for the buck

I'm just bitter about the whole leader class debate.
I don't care what sorta box they come in, just about the quality of the figure itself, the Shockwave figure is a great representation of him and it's a shame fans write him off because he doesn't tower over the rest of the figures, maybe it would of been better if he was a voyager but honest he probably would of been slightly more hollow and such instead of being a "solid" figure.
It's not like Astrotrain is just the figure, he comes with a bunch of accessories and weapons which I feel makes up for it.

I agree with you on Shockwave. He's totally solid. Voyager sized, but not Voyager quality. I don't regret getting him at all. BEFORE I got him I was wary of the cheap gimmick of extra arms and legs "armor," though.
In this game, it's all about the feelz.

I find Thundercracker on the shelf. I'm excited. I proceed to checkout. After hearing of the Street Date issues, I decide to have good faith and carry on with out an older inventory item to scan in it's place. Self check out computer instantly locks upon scanning. Self checkout attendant comes, enters codes, and says" Sorry. You can't purchase this today!", and abruptly rips the box directly from my hands, and walks away scolding the stock room over her radio. I leave frustrated.
Today,10/05/19 North Target, Omaha Ne:
I find Thundercracker on the shelf. I'm excited. I proceed to checkout. This time I grab a Megatron to use as a scan dummy. I scan Megatron, and the self check out computer instantly locks upon scanning. Self checkout attendant comes, enters codes, and says" Sorry. You can't purchase this today". She then takes Thundercracker and scans him. Same thing. Attendant says with a smile "We could hold this for you until tomorrow". I reply, "Yes, that would be lovely! Thank you.".
Target employees:
A. Learn the fuck to read. If it says don't put it out. Don't!
B. Learn a thing or two from Attendant 2. Smile, be kind, and offer the customer the next viable option.
Thank you Attendant 2. I appreciate you.

Something similar to the first instance happened to my friend this week. He went to buy Springer (which I'd already done a week prior at that very Target) but was told he couldn't buy it because of a streetdate issue. Then the next day I went to that Target for some stuff and figured I'd check the Transformers section and Springer was back on the shelf once again

So... with my experience + Sentinel Primal's friend being unable to buy Springer... did they just outright stop any Siege Voyagers from being sold at all until 10/06????
Wait, as in Megatron and Starscream wouldn't scan? Because if so, that wouldn't surprise me. They may have seen 10/06 as the release date and someone could have assumed that meant all voyagers weren't releasable until then

He's slowly starting to arrive along with Barricade and Impactor, both online and in stores. Of course, depending on what each store has backlogged it may be while before saturation.

The way things are going I'm guessing the third part will be movie based or later meaning a return to Cybertronian/futuristic alt modes. Whether they did Earthrise now or as the third part with some planet hopping in between they were always going to do Earth based line as part of the trilogy. And really, was anyone expecting mini Masterpieces? I'm very happy with the progression of War for Cybertron.

Nope. I’m super happy. The couple of Seige figures I actually kept for myself are now getting tossed to my kids. I cared very little for siege, and Earthrise is like a breath of fresh air.
That said, if the siege line sold well for Hasbro, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some more of these cybertronian forms showing up later on. Only time will tell, but Hasbro loves money far more than they love consistency.

I'm kind of torn on the reveal. The Earthrise figures are phenomenal, but I was expecting the War for Cybertron trilogy to actually take place (at least mostly) on cybertron, during the civil war. I was looking forward to seeing the war more fleshed out and getting those Cybertronian modes everyone was expecting (like Bumblebee's). I also worry that with ER being so staunchly G1 in theme, we won't be getting any more nods to other continuities like Galaxy Upgrade Prime. So, I don't dislike Earthrise in any way, just wish we got more of something different.

I’ve mentioned it numerous times before, so many are probably tired of me discussing it - but since you brought it up, yes, I was very disappointed when I found out Earthrise would include yet more 80’s-inspired designs. I was hoping the entire trilogy would include Cybertronian alt modes. I think there is a wealth of opportunity there which needs further exploration.

Not really. Feels more like siege was the first episode of the cartoon. Earthrise is the rest of season one and two and part three will be released around the time Unicron is put out and I’m wagering that’s gonna be a heavy season three
Hasbro never said once that intended to do everyone from 84 in siege and I hate to break it to everyone but they’re not going to get everyone else in Earthrise and part three. They will probably complete the 84 cast because there’s only a few left not including all the minibots but dont expect they’re gonna complete casts like 1985. They did 98% of the Decepticons in one line which is great but fairly easy when the Decepticons were half the size the autobots
Posted by gothsaurus on October 7th, 2019 @ 12:41pm CDT
While I am excited at how good these earth modes look, it's a tragic missed opportunity that Hasbro apparently skipped the Cybertron modes for Wheeljack, Jazz and Bee. I'm holding out hopes these may show up in a box set or Pulse exclusive or such. (MTMTE box set with conductor rods accessories anyone??)
Seriously — Aside from the tetrajets, those seems like the entire reason you would do a line of Cybertronian vehicles. Everything else would be just icing.
Now I'll be hoping for "mini-masterpieces" for all the major players, though these second season guys are VERY welcome to me. (Not to mention obscure mail order characters. Bravo.) Honestly, anything from the Diaclone toy line being done justice is absolute tops.
Also, the way they are including accessories to give nods to specific episodes — like the skis and blaster for Cliffjumper — is very well thought out. Props.
The playability of blast effects, ramps (for Hoist), and modular accessories — absolutely dynamite. Hasbro is on its A-game.

And I found something interesting: the product codes for the Battle Masters and Apeface are in the same region as the Earthrise Wave 1 codes E71**, while the rest are past that with E82**. Pulled up maybe?
