Well...I'm glad I bought the One-Step Stinger, now. That has zero attractability in my book. I'm sure plenty will love it and that's fine, it's just not enough for me.

I'm incredibly disappointed by this. I'll bet we'll get one in one of the future movie lines. Still...

It's great this actually exists in some fashion now, but the mold's shell-former-ness made me think they'd reshell Stinger as a proper Pagani. It just feels like we've waited all these months for something half-assed (and for many, limited to being an expensive import).

Movie lines are the primary part of my collection, with a bit of CHUG and a heavy dose of 3rd party thrown in. (Probably more 3rd party than CHUG...although I should probably do a count.) As for BKG? Thanks, but no thanks. I'm fine with the copper colored mass release one.

Now, the redeco/remold of Optimus that's coming? Oh yeah, that one's preordered. :D

Wow... hasbro didn't mess up for once... instead takara did. While the paint looks very detailed I was expecting the retool too... oh well... at leaSt the robot mode is accurate

I don't see what people are disappointed about. This is exactly what I thought a deluxe Stinger figure would be.

People were expecting a re-shelled retool rather than a straight redeco.

But the thing is, guys, though Hasbro didn't state this publicly at the panel, it was stated at the Hasbro booth at BotCon 2014 that there were indeed plans to remold Bumblebee into Stinger as a full blown Pagani, but the figure never made it all the way through the production process and was dropped. Thus, no remolded mold for Stinger exists, leaving it to fall to Takara to give us a straight redeco.

Well I think this is right, just a pre movie concept as the plot says: "based on Bumblebee, but improved in every aspect... Stinger" therefore is an attempt before taking the pagani shape, besides Stinger has many forms in the movie so this should be just one of those.

No, there's only one Stinger in the movie's final battle. Those multiple red bots you see are Traxes.

In Takara's defense, creating the molding for a totally new shell for the figure would cost a lot, probably more than they'd get back from the investment (and that's not even touching on licensing). Takara have only been doing small retools to Movie Advanced molds and a full reshell would probably be too expensive.

On the plus side, because he is a shellformer it should be easy for an enterprising fan to convert him into a proper Pagani.

I have a couple of things to say to this:

1) Why do people never follow the "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst" principle? We all expected a simple redeco at the very least, anything more would have been a bonus.

2) This is probably the first red Movie-verse Bumblebee that isn't a Cliffjumper.

3) It seems red is the universal color of bad luck for cars. Ratchet was changed from the planned red to his current neon green, Dino and Stinger both have toys that do not match their car models in the movie (except for Dino's Speed Star and Stinger's One-Step toy).

i know right? some of you were so desperate for a stinger that they bought that silly little thing. now theres a real one, to fit with your other real figures, and its not enough? make your own then.

id have liked a new head, but i have a contingency for that: BB mask up, stinger mask down. done deal ;)

You know, the one-step changer stinger may be a worthy investment just to cannibalize and make a deluxe pagani huayra stinger. They are different sizes, but it may be worth a shot!

Say what you want about Takara, at least they're trying to fill out the Con team.

The rest of us Hasbro buyers are stuck with an undersized Lockdown and Galvatron against an army of Bots and Dinos.

Maybe Lost Age Takara will also make the blisteringly obvious repaint and come out with an official AOE Bludgeon? Like this:

yeah really, im happy this thing is made. its better than the one step changer, legends, and power battlers. i will get him. i can deal with it not being his own mold. unlike some people. im just happy to have one.

Well, it's not the toymakers' fault that there weren't any Decepticons in the movie. :P

That's true. AoE really gave the Cons the shaft in terms of representation. Three named guys, and only two recognizable names. (Drones/Giant worms don't count as characters)

Which is a shame, because I might have liked Stinger as a regular Con, if he had a personality and got to stick around to be a proper rival to BB. I still find it funny that BB "hates cheap knockoffs", but scans the exact same body as his knock-off. :P

Even with the lack of named Decepticons, they could have done what they did for all the other movies and make a bunch of "original" characters (like Wreckage from the 2007 line). It worked for the last 3 movies, why not this time? Some of the best movieverse toys were the ones that never appeared in the movies...
Re: Takara Tomy Movie Advanced AD-32 Stinger Revealed (1620026)

A proper 3-in-1 Junkheap would've made for an awesome toy, drone or not. The 2-headed Shockwave and the bot with the whips would've also been interesting. At the very least some repaints of the '07 off-screen Cons (Dropkick, Swindle, etc.) would've sufficed. Could've replaced Snarl, Sludge, Hot Spot, maybe even Helicopter Drift with Cons to help even things out. Stinger actually getting a release as a Walmart exclusive (given how his character was basically that) would've basically been a "free space".
... actually, could've saved those '07 repaints for exclusive sets instead of replacing mainline spots.

But I will keep quiet a little and not complain
