TF Yuki also posted an image with this figure obscuring the Armada redeco of this mold and it is unclear if this is our first view of Takara's rendition of this deco or simply the Hasbro version serving as a hint that Takara will be releasing it eventually.

You're jumping the gun. We don't know if Takara is releasing the Armada Megatron or not. For all we know that could just be the Hasbro figure and Yuki having a little fun with it (he does that kind of thing sometimes).Rated X wrote:Takara finally decided to start milking the Hasbro retool cows. What I dont understand is why they never got a Jihaxus? Why did they never get a skullgrin or nightbeat? And why did they never get a skids ? But yet takara feels the need to do armada megatron? Theres 7 of them keeping the shelf warm at my local TRU. Its a cool figure dont get me wrong. It actually has a reason to be a tank unlike the G1 colored version.

I've wondered the same. I'm holding out for a G2 comic colors accurate Jhiaxus from Takara at some point in this Legends line. I also find it odd they didn't get Skullgrin, Nightbeat and Skids ... yet. In the case of the Energon Sharkticon and Cybertron Unicron, it sometimes takes them a while to get to products in their line. Hopefully in the Legends series!
As for Armada Megatron, I think it's biggest problem is that it comes in a 1:1 ratio with the much more desirable regular Megatron. If Leader Class figures came four to a case instead of 2, I could see the ratio of 3:1 Megatron:Armada Megatron working much better.

Yeah, that doesn't look like a glare. I do think its a re-deco. I know you're being cautious Sabreblade but it looks grey. Maybe TFYuki did some custom painting? I would if it mattered to me.

Sorry Optimizzy, I was just making a dumb joke. I don't know if it is glare or not, but this talk of colour reminded me of that viral dress story and I couldn't help but reference that.

Sadly though, this is not a wide retail release, but instead a Tokyo Show exclusive.

No, Dreadwing's a Prime remold, not Generations.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:That seems to be the case with Takara's recent releases of Hasbro remolded Generations figures.william-james88 wrote:Sadly though, this is not a wide retail release,

But other examples of remolded Hasbro Generations released by Takara as special cases would be Nightbeat getting released as Million Publishing Goshooter, Doubledealer as Cloud Starscream, GDO Megatron as Cloud Megatron, and the unreleased GDO Brawn as Cloud Brawn.

Thanks! And I knew about Dreadwing, hence why I stopped mid sentence to show I caught it. I guess it didnt translate well in text form.

The images come from the official Takara Tomy Twitter feed and feature the Black Convoy/Scourge/Nemesis Prime color scheme on the G2 Optimus Prime mold from 2010's Reveal The Shield, as well as Leader Class Armada Megatron from the currently released Combiner Wars line. (You can see Prime's gallery here and Megatron's gallery here.)
Both figures are Tokyo Toy Show 2015 exclusives and the information pertaining to their limitations and pricing can be seen below:
Armada Megatron is 7,500 JPY ($62.13 USD) with a limit of 2 per person and Black Convoy is 3,500 JPY ($28.99 USD) with a limit of 1 per person.

I was almost going to accuse you of fan-boy cronyism but I went to look at both of them and yeah, I think you're right. The more purple and details in the face really bring out the different look.
Personally, I really like my Armada Megatron. In Fact, he inspired me to watch a few Armada episodes...which I didn't like that much. but I don't think I'll double-dip though. However, I wonder why they didnt do an orange stripe on the horns? That seems like a detail Takara would be all about.

Takara has done a bang-up job. However, considering the price and the limited nature, you would have thought that they could have given him a Targetmaster, or an Arms Micron as leader-1. That's what I am going to give him.
Also, what with Grand Scourge, TFA nemesis Prime, and now this, could it be that this is the most congested amount of Nemmys we've ever had in such a short space of time?

You sure about that? Black Convoy will be an on-show exclusives (like SDCC exclusives are) while Scourge is a TFSS figure. Which one is more rare?
Black Convoy is more accurate to the source material with the added striping, aside, but the TFSS version should be easier to get.

Well dang. I thought it was a general release. Well there goes my chances.

Takara's Black Convoy seems to instead just have solid gray (or bizarrely gray and silver) shoulders instead of gray and black.
I will admit that Takara's has the extra stripes on the side of the truck mode, but it's not a major loss. Nor are the Combatron symbols on his shoulder that much of a bonus since the guy never had those on him outside of scenes toward the end of the series where he was trying to control Fort Max/Brave Max.
And the bright neon teal of Scourge seems to stand out a lot more than the more muted teal on Black Convoy. In fact, while it could just be the image, all of the colors on Black Convoy seem more muted compared to Scourge's colors.

And if that weren't enough we have another Black Convoy (of sorts) lighting up Twitter today, E-Hobby Unite Warriors Grand Scourge! He's shown squaring off against Transformers Masterpiece MP-10 Convoy (Optimus Prime) who has a Reissue due the end of this June. If patient, you can get a TFCC Scourge for about 50 bucks. With the history of Japanese Con exclusive figures have (and I think BC will be popular) I really feel that once it's all said and done he'll cost about 100.
Of course there's time. If you wait, and find that BC is too expensive, Scourge will still be there. I'm not trying to institute panic here

The Scourge version just covered up the shoulder's translucent plastic to make the figure better resemble the character it's meant to represent, since Scourge/Black Convoy did not have red streaks running down his shoulders, but instead had gray ones:
His eyes still have light piping, though.
