Courtesy of the Loopaza Megastore Facebook page, we have the scans of the Transformers dedicated pages in the latest issue of Figure King Magazine, issue number 239, and the focus is almost entirely on the Power of the Primes line - which as we have learned this far, is virtually unchanged from the Hasbro releases, and will be so going forward until contradicting news appears - and the various size classes in the line.

Featuring the likes of Leaders Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime (with Orion Pax and Hot Rod with their evolution gimmicks), Prime Masters and Matrix interactions, plus decoy suits for Liege Maximo, Micronus and Vector Prime, Deluxe class Jazz, and Legend class Slash, Beachcomber and Windcharger. Check them all out below!

Figure King No. 239 Transformers

This month's Figure King of Transformers covering the Power of the Primes series will kick off in Japan in coming May. Overseas fans may be disappointed as this series will be the exactly the same to the US version. Will Takaratomy consider another way to make their own Transformers or just "import" the US version instead in the future? That is nothing for sure right now.

They're even keeping all the Hasbro names in Katakana. "Optimus Prime" instead of "Convoy", "Rodimus Prime" instead of "Rodimus Convoy", "Jazz" instead of "Meister", "Skullgrin" instead of "Dauros", "Cloudburst" instead of "Phoenix", "Windcharger" instead of just "Charger", etc.

The vehicule mode is more or less the same size, but the bit mode is definitely bigger than the fansproject one. Probably because 90% of the fansproject trailer is left over.

Got my Prime Masters in yesterday, 7 days late - thanks FedEx :BANG_HEAD: also, no bonus PM's :(

Been playing with them today and trying to see if there is any logic to the PM and decoy pairings. I can't find any, but in the process I noticed (and this may be old news) that the wave 2 Decoys are retools of wave 1.

Landmine from Metal Hawk - uses quite a few of the same tooling - knees down is the same, same arms, same gun. The PM's look the same.

Submaruder from Skullgrin - seems to use the same back half of the shell with some retooling. The weapons appears to attach the same way on the back.

@shajaki :lol: :lol: - good stuff ;)^

You know, I kinda wish that the PotP Voyagers had a better place to store enigmas/prime masters, especially in robot mode. Like some spot in their chest to plug it in, matrix-style (incidentally, this line also has Matrices using the same engineer): that way one could totally have had 'Grimlock Prime' lording it all over the other Autobots that 'him Grimlock king, now!'.

But in vehicle and regular robot mode, they can't be stored internally. That makes sense, really, as it's meant to be displayed full on in Combined Mode to show off its power and importance.

Submarauder is all new, different from Skullgrin. Look at the Prime Masters first and foremost, then the arms of the shell for any matches and thus retools. No, Skullgrin's/Liege Maximo's retool will probably be Megatronus/Bomb-Burst if we're to go by the leaked 3/4 view.

Octopunch will probably be based on Submarauder since he often is shown with a trident in various comics. If I remember right Waverider (shown by Takara Tomy for Grand Maximus) is based on Cloudburst. That leaves Bludgeon as the odd one out so he might be a unique shell, probably turn into a sword. Another thing to consider is that Bludgeon is basically human-shaped like the Autobot shells so he may share parts with a second wave 4 Autobot (assuming Waverider is in wave 4). Wont be Doubleheader, maybe Pincher? I feel like they're saving the G1 Wave 2 Pretenders for another time.

Seibertronians, we have some huge news today about some brand new Legend Class figures from the Power of the Primes line!
Coming from Transformers Facebook fan page Planet Iacon, we have actual images of POTP Legend Class Tailgate, Roadtrap, and Battleslash! These figures were shown off previously at a Hasbro event in Australia, but were censored out of all photos from the event, so we never actually got to see them. Tailgate is clearly a remold of Windcharger, and Roadtrap and Battleslash, of course, are homages to the Duocon BattleTrap, except each piece now has it's own robot mode! They both appear to be new molds, but it's unknown if they truly combiner as the G1 version did. This obviously has reignited rumors of other Duocon, like Flywheels, so continue the discussion in the EnergonPub Forums!

I'm really excited about a possible Flywheels now, I bet they do combine, but why isn't it advertised? :-?

They totally combine just look at the front of the helicopter mode for battleslash and 19 steps for a figure that small?
Also roadtrap has a clear line of separation down his middle.
Here's hoping that he works better then heavytread from the minicon combiner Centuritron

I agree it looks like they combine... Whether it's something as simple as the crash-combiners (judging from the front end of battleslash)... idk. Kinda wished Tailgate had the teal flames...

I was actually fiddling around with the mini-con combiner... it's still pretty cool, and rather impressive given the scale of the three little guys... though I do wish it hid the rotor blades better

It's Powerlinking of sorts. It helps distract from the fact Roadtrap basically sticks his head up Battleslash's butt.

wooooooohooo - think they did an awesome job - the fact they took the original toys, updated them and added something... It's not exactly how the duocons worked but it's pretty cool they have 2 characters

I remember hating battle trap when I first received him as a kid. Thought he was too simple and lacking the fun I had transforming the others. But as time went by I warmed up to him and also got flywheels.

Must admit, after beachcomber these guys are the figures I'm most excited about from the POTP line thus far.

A brief update to our previous story on the second wave of Legends class figures from the Transformers Power of the Primes toyline, and thanks again to Planet Iacon's Facebook page mirroring from the original source. Apparently, the new molds for Roadtrap and Battleslash figures can indeed combine, making the G1 Duocon homage complete - though we still have no idea whether Flywheels will be made or appear in any form in the future. The speculation is up to us now.

Take a look at the images below, showing how they form the two parts of the bigger robot - our friend Battletrap - and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub discussion boards!

This is the wave I've been most looking forward to so I wont be surprised at all if it doesn't show up in my area. Hopefully Battleslash survives longer than the G1 helicopter half I had as a kid which exploded one time when I combined the two halves. Now I wonder what they'll call the two halves of Flywheels?

BTW, the one local Walmart that's had the wave 1 Legends for a week and a half now still has four Windchargers, one Shrapnel and nothing else. Not a good sign for 'Charger.

Battletrap is one of the coolest things that could happen in this line. If the helicopter propeller can be used as a sword, he’ll be my favorite thing of all of 2018.

Well at least that Battletrap shows a lil more creativity. And the combined form is a very nice upgrade for him (I reeeeally didn't like that recent one using the Springer mold...) but having to buy two lil figures to basically make the old character is a tad irritating and I don't find the individual robots very appealing at all.

Well, Battletrap surprisingly managed to live up to my expectations. Its quite an interesting remake of the Duocon and one which manage to look shockingly accurate to his old G1 art even with the new gimmick of giving his two halves a robot mode. He's also now, technically, an itty-bitty legends class two-man combiner and that's adorable and novel.

So, now that we got Legends-class figures jamming up into each others...erm...interface port, think we're going to see some remake of Micromasters figures?

Does anyone else kinda wish that Battletrap and Flywheels had originally had their names switched so that the one made up of more obviously battle-based vehicles (the fighter jet and tank) had been named "Battletrap", while the one with the more obviously visible wheels (on the truck), rather than treads, had been named "Flywheels"?

Well, so far they've done:
City bots
Combiners
Headmasters
Powermaster
Targetmasters
Pretenders
Duocons
Beast formers

The only things really left are action masters and micromasters. Maybe breastforce? Brain masters?

YES 100%. As a kid I had the original Flywheels, (I thought the Tank/Jet was better than the Helicopter/Truck)but I always got there names confused. Funny because I don't get Topspin or Twin Twist confused (Probably because I associate Twist=drill missiles). But I still get Runamuck and Runabout confused... ;)

For Runabout and Runamuck for me, I think of "muck" as being like an icky black substance, but then I remember that it's the opposite-colored guy with the "muck"-sounding name.

As for Battletrap and Flywheels, I feel it's worth mentioning that, in their debut episode of The Headmasters, their name captions were indeed switched on the screen, labeling the jet/tank guy as "Battletrap" and the truck/helicopter guy as "Flywheel" (no "S" in the Japanese name).

I doubt we'll see the Actionmaster characters as actual action masters but they definitely are to be considered as a possibility for future generations lineup. Personally I'm betting more on the 'Euro G1' stuff getting redone before anything truly exclusive to japan, with the exception of maybe Star Saber and Deathsaurus on the simple basis they are the lead hero and villain of a show.

I should add that my interest in seeing the Micromasters is entirely because I'd love to see what Hasbro could do with a lineup of smaller figures, given that we've had some rather excellent Legends-class figures and would be quite interested to see things like two-packs, three packs or 'playset' like the bases being given a second chance. That and smaller figures save on plastic and I'm sure that is something Hasbro would not be adverse to. ;)

Small figures are not inherently bad when they strike a good deal between size and complexity and most modern legends class figures have been very nice and poseable for something small, with good looking robot and alt modes. So the potential is there. That and potentially they could 'do a Combiner Wars' and make heavy use of shared engineering to allow for more characters at a fraction of the cost and the possibility of shared gimmick engineering. Plus, maybe I just want to army build huge crowds of Autobot and Decepticon micromasters. One can hope that it is something Hasbro has considered for future lines.
