Brand unification started with the Transformers Power of the Primes line and many fans wondered what Takara would do if it was like the old days where they would release their own version of Transformers toys. Well wonder no more, since Takaratomymall revealed their version of Abominus. As assumed, this one is more cartoon accurate with a new chest and new feet. There are also new weapons. It is due out in march 2021 and retails for ¥ 22,000 (so a little over $200 USD)

What do you think of this? Will you be trading in your PotP Abominus? Or is the cash going to be spent elsewhere? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

I found Hun-gurr totally different.

The rest were decal changes (Terrorcons), but for Hun-Gurr? its different. :APPLAUSE:

These look really good, but I'm very happy with the PoTP set I have. The only parts I would like are the hands and feet, but even those aren't a must.

Now if only they redesigned Motormaster and rereleased the Stunticons...

It still needs some Shapeways dragon-head-knees, but this looks about as good as PotP Abominus with that one 3P upgrade that included a purple head (and while that one has its own dragon knees, the the thigh parts attaching it suck because they fall off too easily). So I guess I'll be almost triple-dipping once this comes out.

Apparently a Call of the Primitives head would just be too awesome to ever happen in toy form.

Volcanicus-Reduxus is a hard pass for me, but this set being announced so soon after is getting me more excited for the possibility of Selects Monster Pretenders and Dinoforce in the near future.

The Abominus set is excelent news for those who missed out on the originals. However, it's an easy pass for those who already have the team, like me. Appart some color changes, there's nothing new. Not even a giant gun.
Wait.
There's that shield chest plate and a kinda big gun. Nice, but not 300$ nice.

Looks pretty nice, definitely an improvement on the POTP release. Not sure I care enough about Abominus to get it but it's cool it exists.

I really like the new chestplate ("shield"), but the hands and feet are both mehhh imo, especially compared to the add-on kit I have.
This is seriously $300?? If so, pshhhhhhhh.

I feel kinda bad for people who missed the POTP version...
He's probably my favorite combiner out of all of them, but I thought it was a lot to pay $90+ to get them. Anything over $120-ish, is a pretty big ouch.

I really quite like it. Not enough to double dip, but enough to say I like it. If I could get that Hun Gurr by himself with the big gun and the hands and feet, I would feel satisfied, the 4 limb guys are all really good on my PotP version.

I really like the color of the combined head and the new chest, they look really nice.

Like Volcanicus with the swords, I am satisfied with what I have but would like to cherry pick a couple of parts.
Sowndwave76 wrote:This is seriously $300?? If so, pshhhhhhhh.

Canadian dollars maybe. USD it'll probably be the same price as God Neptune and Volcanicus on Pulse, around $185

Based on Volcanicus at Age 3 and Up, it's 300$CAN. So I expect this Abominus to be the same price as Volcanicus on Pulse.

I might have been into this if it were a bit more than a repaint job with new accessories (which, let's face it, aren't necessary if you got the Perfect Effect set for POTP Abominus). Not really anything to get excited about here...

I really liked the POTP Terrorcons (I was VERY happy they weren't left out of the main line of "combiners") but there was still room for improvement. It's too bad Takara didn't opt for any alterations on the actual figures.

I always thought POTP Rippersnapper's "wolverine" claws were a bit cheap - why not give him something more in line with what Blot has, and make the claws the same colour as the rest of his arms, instead of that awful neon blue? That would be more cartoon accurate, too.

Also, I wish they had fixed Hun-Grr's front legs... As they are, they're just so... dinky...

I really like the new chest piece a lot. Other then that though, theres not enough here to justify buying a second, or replacing my PotP set. and certainly not for that price point.

Hun-Gurrr does look great, and his shield to double as Abominus chest-plate is a great look!!! However, this set is a pass...I got the PotP Terrorcons with the PE add-on kit for the new fist, feet, and gun and won't replace him for nothing!!!

So am I. I think Hasbro did an amazing job with the set initially in terms of deco. There are things I think are off but they are not related to the deco or the feet.

....Meh. Like the Dinobots, the new stuff is nice but I’m perfectly fine with the original Power of the Primes releases. Wake me up when they do a proper Liokaiser with Leozack and Jallguar, then we’ll talk. >:oP

Barricade though... I’m sold.
Re: Takara Transformers Generations Selects Abominus Revealed (2082989)

I have the same thought with the Terrorcons as I did with the Dinobots:

Is the Takara release objectively better? Yes.
Is it worth paying slightly more? Yes.
If this had been announced around the same time as the original Hasbro figures, would I have bought this instead? Probably.
Am I going to buy it and try to sell my existing figures? No, not worth the effort or the return on that effort.

I'm in the same camo as most in that it is better, but not worth selling what I already have and trying to get this.

It's been so long since I handled my PotP Terrorcons, I was going to say "Yay for jaw articulation" buy they already have it
Re: Takara Transformers Generations Selects Abominus Revealed (2082996)
Posted by Sabrblade on October 7th, 2020 @ 10:04am CDT
I'm mostly just gonna wait and see about both Volcanicus and Abominus. I missed out on most of the POTP Dinobots (only managed to get Slash, Swoop, Sludge, and Selects Red Swoop) but I do have all of the POTP Terrorcons. I don't expect either of these two Selects combiners to sell out immediately, so I'll wait and see what my finances look like closer to their release dates before I make any decision about them. But I will say that I do think that both look superior to their POTP versions.
Re: Takara Transformers Generations Selects Abominus Revealed (2082997)
Posted by TF-fan kev777 on October 7th, 2020 @ 10:14am CDT
I'm actually glad with this reveal coming before the order period for Volcanicus is up. I was close to talking myself into pre-ordering Volcanicus and selling off the PotP versions in the event that Abominus might be wort it and wanting both to be the same for the Terrorcons. But now that I know there really isn't that much of an improvement for either set they are both solid passes.

Now, that isn't to say I won't be watching once they are out to see who has them in stock and whether they linger or go on sale and pull the trigger in the future, but for now my wallet can breath a sigh of relief.

I am totally good with my "vanilla" version. And I think Takara exclusives like this (cartoon-accurate redecos), while nice as an option for hardcore collectors, is BS. >:oP

Mainly because I would have preferred they do that in the first place. ;)

If anything, make it Shattered Glass or a Black version, and I'd understand. 8-) :ic$:
Re: Takara Transformers Generations Selects Abominus Revealed (2083006)

Abominus's compound gun -- sorry, I just can't take that seriously. It's obviously an afterthought, very much "yo dawg, I hear you like rayguns, so I stuck rayguns on your raygun" or "and that's how, with a few minor adjustments, you can turn a regular gun into five guns" (The Simpsons: "The Cartridge Family" (1997)).

"Fuse their weapons" is the logical extension of the "fuse robots into a bigger robot" gimmick, but I've never seen a good execution outside Victorion's sword (2016), and that only worked because the sword came first and then fragmented into components that were Bionicle-style fantasy edged weapons. But with the Terrorcons, there's no unity, in color or shape ... I might be convinced if the guns were all black with a character-oriented trim color (nothing a little paint can't fix) and the barrels were compacted into a single gatling-style cluster.

I'm fine with my Terrorcons and Dinobots that I've got. This set's not worth it.

Now if they reissued the Combaticons and/or the Protectobots so I could replace my KOs standing in for them...

It looks good, but I wonder if the plastic/design is any better than the vanilla version, my hungurrs shoulder is so weak that abominus can't hold his leg up at all, and my flying guy has a defect in his knee joints that keeps his legs from coming together properly, so, I'm open to getting this set, I can always use a few spare limbs anyways :-?

After seeing those comparison shots, especially Hun-gurr, it is more tempting...
As someone else said, if they were sold separately, I'd be 100% in for him.
The reality is, this set is a pass for me.
But it does look really good!

So like Volcanicus, redeco with new-ish accessories. This I'm definitely passing on, I just want that big gun.

His chest window is also cleaner with far less window cracks in it.

But what's also interesting is that Hasbro is treating this toy as a Selects figure while Takara is instead treating it as a normal Siege figure.

I wonder if that means that Hasbro actually assigns the TT-GS numbers. That might explain the almost completely random way they have been numbered so far and TT's Siege Nemesis Prime not having one.

Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, TF-fan kev777, has let us know that Hasbro Pulse has added new listings, though one is a bit strange as you'll see.

The first comes as no surprise as it's Takara Tomy's Generations Selects Abominus, now given the number TTGS-05 which had caused some speculation in the past as to who this registry belonged to.

TTGS-05 Abominus

Image

The second one is the surprise as it's the recently announced Takara Tomy Netflix Transformers Soundblaster, but Hasbro are selling it under their Generations Selects label instead!

TTGS-12 Soundblaster

Image

Abominus is a redeco of his Power of the Primes self with new weapons and a new accessory that forms a shield for Hun-Gurr and a animation accurate breastplate for Abominus.

Soundblaster is a redeco of the Siege Voyager Class Soundwave mold but is coloured like his appearance in Netflix's Transformers War for Cybertron Siege cartoon, complete with Mercenary faction symbol on his chest.

Will you be preordering these? What do you think of them? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

According to Pulse, God Neptune is expected to ship 10/24, just 15 days from now. Now of course, I expect the inevitable delay as all other TT GS have had. However...I do find it odd that there has been no early reviews online, or pics of the packaging etc... this supposedly close to the release.

TT-GS Super Megs got pushed back 2 months, so I'm expecting the same for God Neptune.

Correct, but I believe there were pics and early reviews of it, as was the case with other TT Select.

Doing a quick search (I may be incorrect), but PrimevsPrime seems to have has the first video review of Super Megatron on September 1, original release date was around 10/1, and got pushed back to 12/1 on Pulse (though other sites are getting it, the norm for TT selects).

By my estimation then, one would think someone should have come out with a review of God Neptune by now..., unless there are some major delays happening (i.e. more than 2 months).

I was honestly asking... So that price really doesn't make sense.
I do prefer less of the battle damage paint apps, but no way is that worth $43+.

He isn't if you have the original but this is actually cheaper than trying to find the 35th Anniversary Soundblaster on eBay, cheapest you'll find is $48 plus almost another $10 for shipping and it ain't even new.

Below is a new review from Kremzeek reviews where they review the upcoming 2 pack and compare it with Sunstreaker. You will find under that video all the info you need regarding this pack including where you can order it and how much it costs.

Transformers Generations Selects Deluxe Spinout and Cordon 2-Pack $39.99
http://q.entertainmentearth.com/?l=1wn8gj

A pre-G1 classic! The Transformers Generations Selects Deluxe Spinout and Cordon 2-Pack draws inspiration from classic Diaclone toys released before the original Transformers toy line from Hasbro. The white Cordon and the red Spinout are ready for battle against the Decepticons as some of the elite Autobot warriors that just never quite made it into their biggest adventures. These WFC-GS20 Cordon and Autobot Spin-Out figures are Hasbro's first U.S. release of the characters. These characters are based on two of the original Takara Tomy Diaclone figures. Originally, the Spin-Out Diaclone was redeo'd yellow and released as Sunstreaker, now a Sunstreaker figure returns the favor. WFC-GS20 set designed for ages 8 and up.

These WFC-GS20 Cordon and Autobot Spin-Out figures are our first U.S. release of the characters. Paying homage to the OGs of converting toys, these characters are based on two of the original Takara Tomy Diaclone figures. Originally, the Spin-Out Diaclone was redeo'd yellow and released as Sunstreaker, now a Sunstreaker figure returns the favor. Cordon and Autobot Spin-out figures both convert from robot to sportscar modes in 16 steps and each figure comes with a blaster accessory that attach to the figures in robot and sportscar modes. Includes Generations Selects Deluxe Class Cordon and Autobot Spin-out figure, 2 accessories, and instructions.
