Please note: This is NOT a SDCC exclusive. It will just be available for purchase there, the same as their Masterpiece Grimlock was.
TRANSFORMERS collectors can own the heroic Rodimus Prime in this re-creation of the classic G1 action figure! Best known as Optimus Prime's successor to the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, this fan- favorite character can transform into his Winnebago vehicle mode. Set includes a miniature ally, the Target-Master Offshoot, a buzz saw and the legendary Matrix of Leadership.

Stop selling them there, I live five hours away, I don't feel like driving there to wait in line HOURS, to get something you should put on Hasbro toy shop

Now it is going to be first released at SDCC as an exclusive during the show July 21st - July 24th.
So when can we expect this in our local Toys R US ?????

Well, there IS that whole week after...
My guess, TRU is getting them in, sending them along to SDCC, and they'll be on the trucks that week.

As far as the actual SDCC exclusives, they do the Monday following. How long they last is another story... Although this year's TF exclusive are pretty lame unless you're into packaging. Will be nice not having to fight with their slow ass site this year!

They clearly stated that they're not exclusives. Damn, get a hold of yourselves!

Actually MP Rod IS an exclusive, it's just not an SDCC exclusive...which I was fully aware of, thanks. Which is also why I clearly stated THE ACTUAL SDCC EXCLUSIVES are available via the site the following Monday.

Counterpunch quotes Counterpunch quoting Counterpunch... that's like... Counterpunchception! WE NEED TO GO DEEPER!!!
...aaaannyway...
I must wonder though, why stick the Prime on the end of his name when nothing about this toy (save for the face switching and height changing gimmicks already present in the mold) says "Rodimus Prime"? I'da been fine with them just calling him Masterpiece Rodimus (being that Hot Rod is a forever lost name option) but calling him Prime demands that he be Prime like. The painted versions of G1 Hot Rod's stickers, the inclusion of the targetmaster (Which, by the way, is awesome!) and the lack of the camper (I refuse to call that sh*t a "trailer") make this toy decidedly un-Prime.
Granted I rarely give a damn what a toy's called on the box, it still kinda irks me.
Despite my gripes about the name, I'm totally stoked for this release, and damn all you lucky bastards going to SDCC that get a chance to get him earlier! (For that matter, damn you for getting to go to SDCC in the first place! )

I found/created a un-documented 1986 Truck cab mode for Masterpiece Rodimus prime. the toy has the legs sticking out in alt mode like the 1986 toy did.
Here's a u-tube video I created showing this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGV4Z-UY2UQ
the silver things on the arms can rotate upwards in a 90 degree angle & give the alt mode smoke stacks similar to optimus primes truck cab smoke stacks.

That's what I said when I went, but that budget was blown out of the water once I got there. I hope you are a stronger person than I am......
So with this hitting SDCC first, it's most likely the sore(s) in my location won't see them until the first of August. A little disappointing considering I was hoping it to hit the shelves right after the opening of the movie for some reason....

TRU.com will most likely have MP Rodimus prime on their web site.
their might even be a pre-order a few weeks before it comes out.
TRU MP Grimlock last year went on pre-order a few weeks before it was sold. their was even a mistake where TRU.com un-listed the item for $10 less & had to honor those pre-orders. later on TRU.com sold MP grimlock for regular price.
Depending on the TRU.com free shipping requirements. currently TRU.com has a free shipping if you spend $49.99 or more.
My local TRU store is 35 miles away one trip & round trip it's 70 miles.

SDCC last year sold TRU MP Grimlock for the same exact price that the TRU stores & TRU.com sold it for.
So I assume SDCC will sell TRU MP Rodimus Prime for the same exact $49.99 that TRU stores & TRU.com will sell it for.

TRU.com will most likely have a pre-order for MP Rodimus prime like they did MP Grimlock. then after that TRU.com will offer a regular order on their site that will sell out a few times & get restocked a few times.
currently TRU.com has free shipping for purchases at $49.99 & over.

If I get my hands on a few of these at my local TRU, or when I travel for work, I'll pick em' up for you.
Price = Retail + Shipping.
Send me an email if you want Rodimus.
Please put TRU Rodimus in the subject heading.
The only other thing I will need is your ID. Once I get my hands on this guy, I'll email you for payment info. Pay Pal only with verified addresses only, or local pick up if you're in SouthWest Florida.

Don't remember seeing him for 59.99 anywhere. At comic-con i paid $70 for him & i think i got lucky on tax. The next time i saw him at TRU, he was 69.99. I would've loved to get him $60, but having him a month early than retail was kind of nice.
If your local TRU is 35 miles away, the question you have to ask yourself is "How much do you love your Transformers??"

No.
my solid guess,a few days/week after it goes on sale at the SDCC convention.
Lets not also forget the SDCC convention has a web site where people at home can on-line order all their exclusive SDCC convention items. this includes hasbro's MP Rodimus prime.
most of the time the SDCC Convention exclusives get sold on-line the same day or a day later after they get sold at the SDCC convention.

??? I don't recall this being done for MP Grimlock last year? Unless EE (who was carrying it for TRU) arranged so that people could order, but I really doubt this. Also, as it has been said before, MP Rodimus is not a comic-con exclusive.

if toys rus is combine with the entertainment earth(ee) booth so entertainment earth set up the prices for this figure?
i am asking this because the other day i saw the a price list on (ee) website and the figure was not listed at the 49.99 rate that was displayed at botcon? do you think this is due to toysrus sharing their exclusives with entertainment earth and therefore they must increase the price because of table space or is it just flat out commission????
if this figure is listed more at comic con will the toysrus online website sell Rodimus Prime for the same price?? just wondering, if anyone knows!!!!

Fact is,the SDCC convention is getting FIRST CRACKS at selling the Hasbro MP Rodimus. Most likely helping TRU get rid of some volume units. so TRU has less shelf warmers at their TRU stores & on-line
It honestly doesn't matter if their's a SDCC sticker on the box or not.
Because the majority isn't buying MP Rodimus for the store exclusive sticker on the box nor convention sticker on the box.

I know people aren't buying it for those reasons. I just want to make it clear that it's not a SDCC exclusive. That would really suck for the rest of the country anyway.
btskillet -- if it's 60, i hope they won't charge tax. Last year I got Grim w/o tax for 70. (Unless it was already added in). Crossin my fingers
