Transformers is that the movie may suffer (unless of course you hate the first one so much that you feel our inattention is a bonus). It may be pushed back or a host of other thing may happen to it. For that we apologize truly.
Yet a post from Nelson at Shootfortheedit.com seems to disagree with Orci's statement:
BTW, Bay just indicated to me that Transformers is still on schedule. The movie is still in heavy prep and "will be released JUNE 24th 2009."

So what this means for Transformers 2 is still uncertain.
More information as it comes.

Hey, as long as part 2 of TFTM is as good (or better) as Back to the Future 2 was to its counterpart, I'll wait the extra time.

The facts are against him. How can TF2 be "on track" if the script isn't finished, and the writers' strike has no end in sight?

Paramount, Dreamworks, Michael Bay, and the Decepticons all want to make money. The movie will come out on time or sooner.

Bay: Well Steven, here's the script, "Giant Robot dances and pees on cops and the street explodes and the army is great, lil' bitches."
Steven: Wacky title, where's the rest of it?
Bay: Oh, that's it, that's the script. It's sort of a tone piece.
Steven: Well, just make sure Screamwave is in it, those dorks really like him.
