"One of the stars being mentioned is Rosie’s boyfriend Jason Statham," says a Hollywood insider.
"It’s clear the franchise still has huge potential but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction. Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be an added bonus in marketing the movie."

As for TF4 itself, I figured there wold be 1, but I thought they might have waited 5-6 years. I was actually wondering if they would go the Indiana Jones route and wait 20 years for #4, with Bay and Shia coming back anyway.

I think he might be fun in a TF movie, but...not as a continuation of this series. First...there's no one left to kill unless the plot of TF-4 is "Hatchling Stomping". Or Unicron, who's always been a lame villain.
But as a totally new reboot, with a new director?
Yeah, I'd give it a shot.
HK, feels the urge to watch The Expendables again.

How have you never heard of Jason Statham? He has been in Crank 1 and 2, The transporter series, the Expendabless, Death Race, The Mechanic, and a bunch of other stuff.
I commandeth thou to seeth a Jason Statham movieeth.

I'd be very interested to see how this could pan out...It could be a very risky gamble, but if his part is right, it could work.
The best film I've seen him in is Death Race and considering the Transformers connections (Tyrese Gibson, Mustang, weapon-loaded vehicles destroying the crap out of each other, etc), it's the one film that's making me think Statham wouldn't be a bad choice...Hmm...
But we shall have to wait and see!

DavidT wrote:I love Jason Statham movies and he's a pretty good action star, but if they were to use him, it would need to be a reboot for me to like it. I think Christian Bale would be a better choice for an aged Sam! Plus Bale already has experience working with robots LOL... Loved Terminator Salvation!
Um, no and no. Bale would be a terrible choice, he's what ruined Terminator Salvation for me, a horrible John Connor. And his Batman is terrible. He's a terrible actor, the growling voice he tends to use is stupid, and he over acts to the nth degree. Keep him away from Transformers.

Seconded. I thought Statham was ok in Death Race and The Expendables, but the characters he plays are interchangeable, stone faced seething British guy. Hope this stays a rumor.

NO!
If Statham is in the movie then I think it will be more about his ass kicking, who is he going to fight with? Duhamel and Labouf weren't constantly killing Decepticons but if you put that guy in the movie then, yeah, I think it's going to be horrible.
A Statham movie is almost always about Statham, and I really wouldn't like seeing a transformers movie with him, or Arnold/Sylvester/Jet Li, practically the whole Expendables crew. My gawd, that would be horrible.
And I hope for a big reboot, with a totally new crew etc.
Still I don't think a Transformers movie can get any better then DOTM.
I just don't see my n1 favorite franchise getting the Dark Knight awesomeness treatment somehow.
Thank Primus for War For Cybertron

facsimiles !
plenty of ass kicking to be had there, till you meet their boss !
but yeah i'd like a complete reboot too. if only so we can get character models more inline with the classics.
dont get me wrong i didnt hate the updates but ironhide ratchet and BB didnt evoke their namesakes to me , and the same goes for virtually ALL the decepticons.
its particularly annoying when you see how well they did with prime ravage shockwave longhaul and jazz which showed it COULD be done.
next time around i'd like them to look and sound like theyre supposed to. if it can be done with trek it can be done with TF.

But I do have a few theory for the movie IF it does happen.
WARNING-THIS HAS DOTM SPOILERS-
In the movie, before the ship lifted off, they said this is the SECOND wave of Autobots, and then it blew up. The first wave of Autobots could landed in some other city and Jason Statham is there and other decepticons are attack there while the DOTM events are happening, and there could be cameos of the other characters, like Rosie is Jason's cousin or something. This could probably have a lot more autobots and decepticons that aren't in the movie but are in the comics or just brand new ones. IDK, what do you guys think?

Megatron was dead on for first movie. And how many movies were there that had Megatron in it? I can totally see this coming somehow.

Ever hear of Unicron using the dead bodies of other Decepticons to create Galvatron and the Sweeps?

Yes I have, and I don't know if I would call Jason Statham and Amy Smart bumping uglies in the middle of a crowded street comedy or slapstick. I've also seen everything else that he's been in. I'm not basing what I said just on the two Crank movies.

aside from that scene its pure slapstick
the directors said they were making it like an old looney tunes cartton (ala wile coyote)

Been in many other movies such as The Mechanic and also Transporter Trilogy.
Statham would be ideal to replace Shia cause TF 4 if indeed a new 2nd Trilogy would be in need of something new, something diffrent.
For people crying about it having new characters or being darker duh of course it is cause it will be like how Star Wars and the preqeul trilogy is new darker tone and new characters.
New director of cource Mr. Bay did a fantastic job bring Transformers to the big screen but of course the new guy will have big shoes to fill in replacing Mr. Bay.
I was quite pleased with all 3 films I even enjoyed ROTF and saw all 3 movies at the movies saw ROTF in IMAX not 3D but saw DOTM in 3-D.
I am a Generation 1 original and it is my 25th anniversary being with Transformers and I look forward to this new 2nd Trilogy.
I knew they was going this way cause of the way DOTM ended it sets up for another trilogy easily.
New characters and a new stroryline. Remember the universe of Transformers is massive and they can use a wide arrange of things to make another trilogy.
The Cyber Planet Keys, The Key To Vector Sigma, Mini-Cons, Targetmasters, Headmasters, Triplechangers, Power-Links,
Alpha Trion, Vector Prime, Scorpinok, Zarak, etc.
New characters - Sixshot, Ultramagnus, Rodimus to replace Optimus Prime, Kup, Springer, Slipstream, Thundercracker to replace Starscream and Galvatron to replace Megatron.
Galvatron could be like his older Brother or his mentor sort of how Sentinel Prime is to Optimus but Galvatron would be Megatrons mentor.
Statham is awesome he is an excellent choice to replace Shia cause this new Trilogy would be darker and more action pack and Statham could easily handle this franchise and work will with Carly.
Bring it on I am curious to see how the new Trilogy will be handled but I dont expect TF 4 until 2014.

Not bashing your ideas. I agree with most of them. But this already happened. The Fallen was Megatron's "Sentinel Prime". Why he called him Master and bowed to him.

Worst example ever.
The OT is far darker than the prequel trilogy:
NH: - You can't top destroying Leias homeworld in front of her eyes in terms of darkness... And then Luke loses his mentor before his own eyes.
ESB: - Han frozen into carbonyte while his freinds need to watch it over; Vader cutting down his own sons hand before telling him he is Lukes father...
RoJ: - Any scene in Jabbas palace - hell, the rancor and the original sarlacc look like they stepped out of a horror movie (while the updated sarlacc looks like it came from little shop of horrors); Yoda, and a lot of ewoks dying...
The darkest moments I can think of in the PT are all in RotS, the biggest maybe the jedi massacre - but Lucas took a lot of weight from that part of the movie by making the movie-featured background of the biggest jedis nonexistent.

But if it were true, best case scenario is Transformers: Glock, Spock and Two Smoking Cannons. The evil Glockman, a giant robot that turns into a 40-foot handgun, teams up with the aging Dr. Spock to take over the universe. But alas, the heroic Rustyskin is somehow revived from a pile of dust by the GoBots, and threatens to defeat the bad guys with his giant dual arm cannons! Whose guns can make the biggest bang? Find out in theaters!
Worst case scenario is Transformers: Spark Attack! Unless the heroic Best First gets a direct jolt to his spark every 60 seconds, he will die and the evil Liarcons will take over the universe! How many ways can he get shocked in two hours? Find out in theaters!
Either way I can't see it being a good thing, though it's possible the right director and writers could make me change my mind. I just doubt that the right director would pick Statham.

Jason Statham is all about machismo and 80's style action movies. TF is all about the robots and CGI. He'd be vying with TF's for the role of the hero.
Shia worked as a protagonist in Bay's TF movies because he's the hapless kid. The role of the hero and warriors are left to the Autobots. Sure, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson were supposed to be the macho hero types, but they didn't steal the limelight from the Autobots.
To my mind at least, the biggest technical problem with a live action TF movie is the need of a human protagonist, without said protagonist being given too much importance or more emphasis than the Transformers. IMO, Statham is too much a a screen presence to fit into a TF movie without clashing with the TF's in terms of importance.

Yeah but then who would play Wreck-Gar?
As for Statham, while he has been in some terrible movies, I like him. He'd certainly be a massive change from Shia. I could definitely see the franchise taking a much darker turn with him in the lead role. And if anything, the movies would become even more testosterone-heavy and action-crammed.

Cyber_Tek wrote:The only role that makes sense for Statham to play is as the Military guy (Duhammel's character or something similar). Statham isn't a "hapless kid". They could eliminate the "hapless kid" character, but Statham easily fills a military guy role. What would make the whole thing screwy and make almost everyone cringe is if they make his "Car/transformer" an Audi A8 or BMW 7 series. EVERYONE would be howling "OH NO" at that.
I could almost see the new director having fun with a Transporter homage/parody by pairing him with an Audi or BMW in a scene, with him in a black suit and leather driving gloves.
