Edit:
On a side note, Someone needs to fillet that Reviewer. It seems like for every movie that comes out, the people that write reviews love to accentuate the shortcomings and focus on them, not even giving ANY credit to the good points in the film; Cinematography, Score Music, performances by the Actors relative to other films that they're known for. These Reviews almost always contradict public opinion; Everyone that I've spoken to about this movie states that the movie is, and I quote: "F!ckin Bananas, man!". So I say we Bludgeon(no pun intended) that movie reviewer and let him know that Numbers Just Don't Lie.
End of Speech.

I'm honestly not surprised by this. I mean, it's got giant robots, explosions, car chases, aliens, and Shia Lebouf. That spells INSANELY POPULAR.

Something tells me that the Allspark shard that Prime pulled out of Megatron's chest could be a good plot device for the sequel.

As do I. It reminds me of the way we watch the Markets here at Work...
I myself have never been so interested in watching Box Office Numbers before this movie; but I think that Transformers is something of a variable. For example, the way it's single Holiday release date was expanded to a three-day spread before even heading into it's opening weekend. I have a feeling that the numbers would be a hair different if They didn't do the Monday night Limited release, then the Tuesday before the 4th thing. I also do believe these numbers were bolstered by fans like Seibertron and Yours Truly that have gone back over and over again to see the movie... But who cares! Money's money! Bring on the Sequel! Give me more Robot action and I'll see #2 Twice as many times! It's true, this movie definitely proves that Transformers has something for everyone!
BTW; The Backyard Shenanigans were great, but we could stand to see just a little less of that next time... I'm hoping for a darker film; Michael Bay's done some Serious stuff in the past, but nothing really Dark. He knows this franchise will make or break him... But I have faith.

Yet, this is their major obstacle. I actually enjoyed everything up until the robot orgy at the end of the movie far better. I loved the comedy in the movie. I guess I wish they had written the script in a way that spread out the robot battles throughout the script more. Hopefully, #2 will accomplish this because I loved the light-hearted fun of the movie up until the end. My favorite part of the movie was the Bumblebee / Barricade scene in the middle. It seemed like the best scene because it had comedic moments with Sam at the beginning of the scene being chased around by "Satan's Camaro" on his mother's bike and led right into the giant robot deathmatch that we've all been dying to see. The end battle lacked the charm of the first 3/4 of the movie, which seems to be the same comment that I am hearing from my family and non-Transformers-fans-friends. It seems like a lot of the Transformers fans that I've talked to wish that the movie was more like the last 1/4 of the movie ... but that doesn't make a good movie to mass audiences.
Better balance, that's all that I'm asking for. Not more. Not less. Just a better dispersal of the various types of scenes (comedy, action, etc.)

Given that it's already made a profit, this will definitely be something to those highly critical of the film. Overall, I enjoyed it, and am planning to see it again. This really does bring me back to the original.
I hope that the sequels will do better.

Ultra Magnus wrote:Hey, we ALL knew this would happen. So let's just sit back and enjoy the Ride, folks! Let's also hope that we'll get a better Story next time around... You know, one where they don't DESTROY the source of power for the entire race, and where the lead villain isn't killed by a teenager.
Hate to say it, but not all of us. Most the Bayhaters were all saying, hoping, and claiming as fact that this movie would tank. Hell, they still are. It's so funny to me that the movie was a hit, and they're still calling doom and gloom. Oh well, if they can't come to grips with reality, that's their problem.
As far as makin' all that money, WOO HOO

Hope it can make another $100 million or so before Pottermania hits.
