Transformers Beast Wars Transmetal Figures Rumoured for Reissue

If the rumours are true, these should be coming out later this year. With the Kingdom line giving us most of the Beast Wars season 1 bots, many were wondering if Hasbro would redo the Transmetals next and the point that always comes up is that those toys still hold up. They are show accurate (unlike most of the season 1 toys) and have articulation/complexity that would satisfy fans today. Reissues may be easier than redoing them completely in this case.
While first coming out in the mid 90s, the last time these molds were used was in the Armada line. All I can think of right now is the prospect of finally having a Transmetal Megatron that won't crumble in my hands. Let us know what you think, and of course please remember, this is just a rumour.

Maybe even this eventually lead to other lines getting reissues!

Likewise it would be nice to have some figures with good, non-flakey chrome.

He's one of the most tragic cases of red-chrome flaking, I've heard reports of his legs inexplicably shattering, and those rubber treads you have to fold up into his claws then stretch around his wheel assembly ain't gonna' last forever either. Maybe they could even retool him so all his crab legs end up on his shoulder pads like on the show.
I haven't handled Magnaboss in years, but out of curiosity, do the Japanese and Korean releases of BWII Skywarp have GPS too?
At least with Transmetal Megs you have the Metals option. Since my rare-ish pinkish-purple-chrome variant broke, I've regretted not buying that Easter basket with the chrome-swap TM Primal vs. Megatron KO in Kmart 15+ years ago.

...this YES.
BUT Transmetals Megatron is pretty much the only Transmetals figure that needs a re-do for the new Generations Beast Wars figures as he is not in scale with what we have gotten so far and he hasn't been in scale with what we had gotten back then. I'm also curious if they will reissue all TM figures or only the ones that appeared in the show. I have gotten all of the old TM figures I wanted with Cheetor being the last one I got last year. The only other one I might still be interested is Airazor.
But especially some more foot articulation and accurate accessories for these figures would be nice.
And I really hope they remake the TM2 characters. I want a Voyager Dinobot 2 and maybe a Leader or even Commander class TM2 Megatron with a great robot mode to display next to my original TM2 Megs in dragon mode .

Yea, what I mean is that some need remakes, NOT reissues.
I am kind of indecisive if I'd prefer a reissue or remake of TM2 Tigerhawk

Remakes are doubtful, as Japan didn't care for the Transmetals. Reissues would be more likely, as they come from Hasbro.
Tigerhawk's main issue was a completely lack of a paintjob. Although his show model wasn't exactly awash with colour to begin with.

We are talking about a completely new figure here. Otherwise it would be an Ultra class.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:I hope not. Unless they fix the floppy arm...ZeroWolf wrote:There is rumours that we will see a leader class tm2 megs next year but take them with a mountain of salt
I'm not convinced that we can rule out remakes only because Takara didn't care about something back then. Things change!Remakes are doubtful, as Japan didn't care for the Transmetals. And they designed stuff like Hellscream, Max B, Dirgegun and Thrustor which are kind of homages to the TM2 design concept. But I'd be happy with remakes of these figures, too. I mean there are rumours about a Generations Lio Convoy in 2022, too.

Except that classification doesn't exist anymore. So he would naturally defer to 'Leader Class'.

Wishful thinking aside. The Japanese fanbase is the primary focus of HasTak. There is a reason the Beast Wars Masterpiece line was given a fixed end point of Season One. Why both Cyberverse and WFC Kingdom focus on Season One designs of Beast Wars. Because those designs were liked, the Transmetals were not. So in that respect, nothing has changed.
It is a bit of a stretch to link those figures with TM2. Especially considering Japan didn't even get all of that line.
Plus Lio Convoy was neither TM1 or TM2. So that rumour doesn't really have anything to do with anything.

Still exists in Cyberverse.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Lunatic Prime wrote:We are talking about a completely new figure here. Otherwise it would be an Ultra class.

I doubt that especially considering the SIEGE line.Lunatic Prime wrote:I'm not convinced that we can rule out remakes only because Takara didn't care about something back then. Things change!

The only true BW character in Cyberverse was Cheetor. Maybe Sky-Byte if you include base molds. And Kingdom is kind of a test run of how much interest is still there in American Beast Wars stuff. There is a reason the Beast Wars Masterpiece line was given a fixed end point of Season One. Only in Japan or the Western markets, as well?Because those designs were liked, the Transmetals were not. So in that respect, nothing has changed.
What I mean is that Lio Convoy is a BW 2nd character like the other four mentioned ones. So if they see that there's interest in Lio Convoy they might do more from BW 2nd like Hellscream, Max B, Dirgegun and Thrustor for example. It is a bit of a stretch to link those figures with TM2. Especially considering Japan didn't even get all of that line.

No offense but do you have reliable facts here or old data and mix in your own opinion?
Because without any relevant/up-to-date facts and data I don't see the need to discuss this any further and say: Let's just see what we will actually get and not cloud the mood about it.
I am just hoping that I/we will get what we want and if it doesn't happen I'll of course be disappointed but it's not the end of the world.

Of course something else I wanted to address, it was said that because the ultra class no longer existing that a theoretical tm2 megs reissue would be knocked to Leader Class...the reissues don't stick to size classes as such like normal releases, as seen by the Walmart Reissues, if anything the proce will be higher

Hasbro initiative, and not Takara's)
I do think nothing more can really be said at this point in time till more information is gleamed.

I'd love it if we could get a Rampage reissue with some chrome that won't die (a Shokaract that won't cost me an arm, leg, and both kidneys just to shed its chrome like a tree sheds leaves would be nice too). Skywarp has the same plastics as Silverbolt unfortunately.

The rumor for TM2 Megatron is a remake, not a reissue.
And Hasbro makes toys for their distribution channels, what Japan wants is irrelevant, Hasbro has no say or interest in that market in relations to Transformers.

I also recently looked at Magnaboss in storage and was really surprised that Silverbolt's entire backpack was just detached, at the hinge. Like it just eroded. I had no idea Silverbolt suffered from GPS until then.

Yes, yes, yes, I used the wrong name, once. Ok move on.
Although there is significance in the character choice polls being Japan-only.

2-4 deluxes (some combination of Rattrap, one of the Cheetor's, Tarantulas, Dinobot 2, and maybe Silverbolt), a couple of Mega's (likely Optimus and Megatron), and if we're REALLY lucky, 1-2 Ultras.
Edit: That said, if this gives us another chance to pick up that Trans-Mutate build-a-figure they put in those 10th anniversary figures, I'd be interested.

I have two Big Lots KOs of that mold that not only fixed the floppiness of the dragon neck arm but even gave it wrist articulation (at the cost of the spring-loaded missile launcher gimmick in the dragons mouth, though, but still).AllNewSuperRobot wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:There is rumours that we will see a leader class tm2 megs next year but take them with a mountain of salt

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Megatron and Rampage were my only GPS casualties. Each losing a leg. In contrast, Tarantulas and Waspinator haven't even lost a flake of chrome. One of the pegs on Primal's forearm also snapped at some point in storage. I don't really feel the need to buy any of these again though, to be fair.
By Rampage, do you mean his chrome flaking off? Rampage doesn't have GPS issues to my knowledge, just the paint flaking problem (which I fixed on mine by adding a layer of clear coat) and the rubber treads.

I wouldn't hold my breath for TM2's just yet, beyond maybe a Dinobot II retool of Dinobot. It wouldn't be entirely screen accurate, but I don't think Dinobot II is popular enough a character to warrant his own new mold, and we know that most molds are made with alternate toolings from the get go and there's not many retool potentials for Dinobot.

There's already enough general retail lines competing for shelf space. Even more when you factor in exclusives like Netflix WFC and RED. We don't need another.
As for Transmetals, I would guess they'd do whoever got the upgrade in the show, and no one above Mega/Voyager. I could see them adding Silverbolt as a line filler but that's it.
Posted by Jelze Bunnycat on February 7th, 2021 @ 4:17pm CST
OK... if you ask me, I'd only expect the Deluxes here: Cheetor, Rattrap, Tarantulas and maybe Silverbolt. Why? Possible successor for the Walmart Retro Headmasters line.
Posted by Bumblevivisector on February 7th, 2021 @ 5:00pm CST
Really? By the time I packed most of my BW stuff away, only Transmetal 1 red had totally flaked off, including the red on Tarantulas's saw/gun and Primal's shoulders. Shokaract's blue had spider webbed; I bought some spray sealer, but never got around to coating him with it, so he's still boxed and bagged away somewhere dark, since I assumed sun damage was a factor. The BM ultra Jetstorm I got second hand had its blue chrome fall off too.william-james88 wrote:AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Rattrap and Cheetor are the only ones I've got with flaking issues. But TM2 chrome seemed to be structured different: tiny chips of color would flake off of mine from the beginning, but there'd still be silver chrome underneath, so it looked more like a highlight than a defect. Did some Transmetal 2s just shed completely? Like Megatron's dragon red?

I wonder if they ever found it? They had only used it five years prior so it couldn't have been that lost. They moved factories at least once, maybe twice since then so there's a chance it turned up at some point in the last 15 years.
Let's also keep in mind that lost molds don't really mean anything anymore when Hasbro rebuilt the combining dino tapes just for a few exclusives. Where there's a will there's a way.

Similarly, the BWII Galvatron mold was gone by 2005.
