Ozformers, who first stated that there would be an Amazon exclusive reissue of Combiner Wars Devastator has now announced that it wouldn't see a release until January. It was initially supposed to come out before the year ends.
A "small" update from Hasbro, just days after we broke the news...the reissue Combiner Wars Devastator has been delayed to January (everywhere, not just Australia, so it isn't just us this time).

An Unite Wariors reissue, now that I could think about it.

Argh....
I hated it so I sold mine long ago. But if Takara would pull the rug from under the KO companies feet and make a downsized to standard CW combiner version of their UW set, I'd be all over it.

Fortunately an auction came up on eBay a few weeks later, I was able to get a MIB T30 for just about $200. But the TT reissue would have cost me close to $300, so I was glad.
Don't give up, and be patient. It took me a couple of years of looking before I finally was able to get one. Also understand exactly what it is you want. I was willing to pay up to $200 for a loose complete T30, but I was fortunate with what came across my path.
Everyone is different. If I were still missing Metroplex, I'd be willing to settle for a loose complete one for about $250, and a MIB (of either the hasbro or TT version) I'd be willing to pay probably $350. I know they can list for much higher. I'd pursue getting one as best as possible as opposed to waiting until *who knows when* for another release, or a new toy, which I dont think should happen for at least another 10 years.
But believe me, I know there are limits. There are a few items I've resigned to myself that I'll never own because they are next to impossible to obtain (look at my wish list), or even if they were, would probably be more than I am able to pay for them. Hindsight is a pain in the ass. I had the perfect circumstances also. If I had known BC2016 was going to be the last one. I would have taken out a couple new credit cards, got the golden ticket registration, flown my whole family to Louisville, and signed all 4 of us up for the build-a-figure class. But I digress...
Don't give up searching for your Metroplex, be diligent and patient, and hopefully you can score one.

que the two that happened !
but i had the disposable at the time so im not that upset really
hold out , ya may get it again in few years or so.
i recently dropped the hammer on an encore fort max that big bad toy store got back in recently. ive wanted that lad since i was 16 but thought id lost the chance. he's STILL pricey but ALOT cheaper than the alternatives ive had available up to now (seriously im talking 700+ euro range from other sources PRE postage ! )
in a way im glad Devy has been postponed. covid is fking things RIGHT up economy wise so i cant justify him now till things get better on the financial front. but AFTER the crimbo bonus?
suddenly he's alot more affordable.
i dunno though. ive been using the toy lines lately to fill out all the missing characters i couldnt get back in the g1 days and ive already got g1 devy. right now the main attraction is ive got all the other titans so he's bascially all i need for a complete set.
i probably will. i said i wouldnt get scorponok for the same reason, then he ACTUALLY hit stores in my country so was too cheap to pass up (as well as the whole "scaling with fort max" thing)

Ahhh my favorite episode. It's cheesy, fun, and has a great ( albeit brief) battle between Omega and Dev. Also the B story in San Francisco was cool also as someone who grew up in the area.
This was my catharsis. Ever since Dev trashed the Dinobots in Heavy Metal War, I had seen Omega in the 85 catalogue, and truly hoped he would be the Autobots answer to a powerful bot. I was not disappointed

Did anyone ever do a mock up on photo shop of what Devy would have looked like?

I know a guy who did some fanmade digibashes back in 2019 (using the old toy heads since the pretooled heads were only just now revealed).ZeroWolf wrote:Did anyone ever do a mock up on photo shop of what Devy would have looked like?
Quickmix:
Wedge:
Hightower:
Scoop:
Grimlock (likely would have been renamed):
Heavy Load:
Landfill (Version 1.0, new head based on the original)
G1 Landfill (individual component, just for fun, no new head):
Landfill (Version 2.0, uses the G1 Landfill component instead of Heavy Load, head based on G1 Landfill):
Landfill (Version 1.5, retains the Devastator head since no new combiner head was pretooled, adds some more green to the chest wings, this one best resembles what we would have most likely gotten)

I wouldn't buy it, but I bet many would.
----------------
As for the original vanilla Combiner Wars Devastator, I find the undersized knock-off to be far, far superior. It have the exact same feel as the original, but the fact that it's in the "right" size make it feel way better in hand. Plus the joints of that thing are so solid, the combiner keep his pose even when you pick him up and shake him around! The price is way better too.
Posted by o.supreme on May 8th, 2021 @ 11:21am CDT
There is so much potential left in not only the several combiners that still have yet to receive modern upgrades, but also concepts that never were realized ( like the concept art of the Autobot Dinosaur combiner from Masterforce). I'm fully serious in that, if TT decided just to release 2 previously unreleased Combiners per calendar year, just with slight retooling, or straight up repainting they have enough material for 5 years at least. The main Hasbro line could go in all sorts of weird directions and I wouldn't care as long as I just got my 2 combiners per year, with a guaranty that eventually we would get them all, I'd be satisfied.

The other reason it didn't happen is because Fun Pub thought for sure that Hasbro would do it themselves, having produced the pretooled heads after all. Yet, to everyone's surprise, Hasbro did not do it. Nor Takara.

But, a Titan class box set was too expensive for Fun Pub to feasibly release for BotCon. As pricy as BotCon registration packages had become over the years, this set would have cost about $400 at the starting price before all of the other expenses would have been added to the package on top of the box set, which would have made the total final cost per package an ungodly ridiculous amount.

I can still see TakaraTomy do them before Hasbro as the fan and collectors' market in Japan is more suitable for such releases. Even then, it's a big risk without a proper incentive aside from having the CR Build Team available again... plus two unknown characters (the Double Targetmasters were never released in Japan nor did they have that big a role in the comics except for Devie Scoop).

I know this is super old, but I JUST learned about the pretooled heads. I would totally buy a Landfill repaint. Generation Selects please!

HOLY NECROMANCY!
But still, that's one obvious Select repaint that could be done easily by .
So why won't they?

Maybe it's not "won't," and is just "haven't yet." I mean, we are getting Tow-Line and more than likely Sideburn thanks to the wonder of Legacy...
Posted by Sabrblade on June 29th, 2023 @ 8:01pm CDT
Yes, but Tow-Line is made from a recent mold released this year. Same with the potential Side Burn. Combiner Wars Devastator is from 2015, eight years ago. The furthest back that Hasbro has gone to use any mold for Selects or whatnot has been 2019's Siege line, a mere four years ago.MeGrimlock78 wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:

The thing about this retooled set is that Hasbro gave the new tooling to Fun Pub so that they could release it as a potential BotCon or Club exclusive. Fun Pub didn't release it because doing an exclusive Titan set would have been way too expensive to be financially viable for Fun Pub; they never would have gotten their money's worth out of it. Plus, the folks at Fun Pub were so sure that Hasbro would eventually release it themselves, and were quite baffled that Hasbro ultimately didn't.

They just have to take the superior Takara version and make it yellow and purple.

Rumor has it that the SDCC shiny chrome version was originally going to be a G2 yellow version, but it was changed to the chrome version because some higher-up(s) felt the G2 version would be too obscure and wanted the more mainstream green colors for the SDCC exclusive, since most SDCC exclusives were/are meant to have more mass appeal than most other exclusives.King Kuuga wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:King Kuuga wrote:I don't see there being enough demand for a titan class Landfill that isn't even screen accurate to justify the manufacturing cost.

That makes sense...the part about the SDCC version originally being planned as yellow I mean. Since G2 Devy was only in a toy, the visor-less face makes perfect sense for that release.
