BeastWarsFTW wrote:SPOILERS ABOUT THE NOVEL
I read the novel yesterday on Amazon Kindle. This post contains many spoilers from the DOTM novel. I cannot say how to true to the movie the book will be but I was very disappointed with it.
Some notable things
-Optimus and ratchet go to the moon on a NASA shuttle and bring back Sentinel Prime and five pillars. Pillars are used to activate the space bridge. Decepticons have hundreds of pillars.
-Soundwave is a Mercedes.
-Cherobyl was caused by Russian scientists ttying to harness the power of one the fuel rods from Sentinel's ship.
-Russians had rovers on the moon first to see the Ark but USA was first to get an Astronaut on the moon. There were several missions to the moon.
-Sentinel Prime had struck a deal with Megatron on cybertron to end the war using the space bridge Sentinel created. Now working with Megatron on Earth to bring Cybertron in orbit (by creating a massive space bridge) of the Earth and use the resources and humans to rebuild Cybertron to save their race.
-The Wreckers rebuilt/built the ship that you see behind Optimus in the movie trailer. It was a NASA rocket that they converted.
-Megatron is still severely damaged and has hatchlings on Earth and is taking care of them.
-The tentacle thing is called a Driller and controlled by Shockwave.
Autobot Deaths:
Mirage - killed by Starscream
Wheeljack - killed underwater by several decepticons
Skids - killed by Sentinel
Mudflap - killed by Sentinel
Ironhide - Killed by Sentinel
Sentinel Prime - killed by Optimus and Megatron
- Leadfoot got his leg blown off my Soundwave but didn't die.
Decepticon Deaths:
Shockwave - killed by Optimus
Soundwave - killed by Bumblebee
Laserbeak - killed by Bumblebee
Starscream - killed by Sam
Crankcase - got ran over by a human named Dutch.
Hatchet (dread) - killed by Bumblebee
Crowbar (dread) - killed by Sideswipe
Two other dreads unnamed - killed by accidently driving into Ironhide and being smashed to pieces
Conclusion:
After Optimus and Megatron defeated Sentinel they agree to work together and stop fighting. Megatron will return to Cybertron with his army and then send for the autobots to bring them home.
How that disappointed I don't understand??????
At least starscream gets to kill someone I mean that better what he did in rotf
wheeljack dies holy shit

F$&@ you! Michael Bay!
Terrible story, worse ending, it's ROTF2.

Why? It seems to be, by far, the most solid plot of any of the three movies.

Most of the book, is written through Optimus's point of view, any part w/ Optimus really, and IMO helped me come to grips with what actually happens, to to be honest, I was satisfied with the ending (and reading what OP was thinking throughout the whole conflict and resolve helped too).
Basically in short, I finished the book in less than 24hrs. It is a page turner and you will lose track of time while reading it. Strongly suggested that if you're going to read the article for spoilers, invest a little time and actually read the thing.
And yes this is coming from someone who did have issues with the story and the previous two films, and no.. I'm not on Hasbro's or Bay's payroll

More so because he is taken out by a bitch move and not gloriously in battle.
Thanks Hasbro, for letting Iron Hide yet again get taken out in bitch like fashion.
First in the 86' movie, when the deceptions somehow finally were able to shoot straight and the autobots couldn't. Now he gets killed by a traitor.
You couldn't have killed jolt? A toy you have shoved down are throats for three years?
Who has less then 20 seconds of screen time?

I suggest Prozac because a reboot isn't likely. THey are making way too much money on the movies as they are currently made. Why change a good formula?

Seriously, f@ck you Ehren Kruger and Micheal Bay.
Everything else, meh. The ending sucks, the Prime/Megs team up is cool, but then Prime lets Megs go back to Cybertron!?!?!?!?!?!? LAME! Bummer Ironhide buys it and Shockwave does much of nothing. Sentinel Primes's betrayal is a cool angle. Meh overall, though at least it reads better than ROTF, so that's positive.

Wolfman Jake wrote:I wouldn't grab the torches and pitchforks quite yet, folks. Though the basic story outline of the novelization will probably match the movie, history has taught us that the printed versions of the Transformers movies tend to stray from the on screen canon. The "little" details, like which characters die and survive during the movie, are subject to change. Any scene in the book involving The Twins should be taken with a grain of salt, as Bay has been swearing up and down that they are not in the film, period.
I'd say that Ironhide, Sentinel Prime, Starscream, Shockwave, Laserbeak and Soundwave are most definately doomed: they have died in the same way in two adaptations, Ironhide and Sentinel in three. Furthermore, Ironhide and the Twins are adsent from all filming in Chichago, leaving him the in the "deader than dead" category.
The ONLY character I think may survive is Wheeljack, as he has, so far, only died in one adaptation.
Wolfman Jake wrote:Early screenings have confirmed as much. If you've read the novel or the spoilers, I'd say you probably have a good idea of how the story will progress, but don't take ANY detail for granted until the movie is actually released.
The early screening reviews mentioned that the Twins WERE in it but "toned down".

You need to pay closer attention to the Seibertron news feed, my friend.

This is why I have the novel, however not touching it until I've seen the movie. i did it for ROTF also. I like to see the movie magic before I read the book.

Other than that, I read "just the good parts". I'm not going to read 400 pages about humans and Auto bots! Give me more Decepticons!

It's Canada. Don't they wait on EVERYTHING until the NHL Finals are over?
