If you've been waiting for the second installment of the first Season of Transformers Earthspark, you only have a few more days to wait! The next batch of 8 episodes will start being released this Friday, March 3rd, on the Paramount+ streaming service. Below, please find the press release regarding the show, as well as a teaser trailer and some still shots.

Feb. 1, 2023 – Paramount+ today announced the renewal of the original animated series TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK for a second season, which will follow the Malto family and Terrans on even higher stakes adventures packed with humor, heart and family. Beginning Friday, March 3, the next eight episodes of the first season will be available to stream in the U.S. and Canada, with additional international territories to follow. The first 10 episodes of the 26-episode season premiered in November 2022, and are available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Korea and France.

Released today, the all-new trailer and artwork showcases more Autobots, more Decepticons and more Terrans! In the next eight TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK season one episodes, the Terrans continue to uncover their powers while they learn to protect themselves against G.H.O.S.T. Twitch, Thrash and the rest of the Malto family will continue to learn what it means to be a Transformers robot, what it means to be human and ultimately what it means to be a family. Making their debut in the series are Keith David (“The Princess and the Frog”) as Grimlock, Alfie Alan (“Game of Thrones”) as Tarantulas and Roger Craig Smith (“Regular Show”) as Breakdown.

“The highly anticipated series TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK premiered with a strong launch on Paramount+, ranking as one of the top five most-watched Kids & Family series,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming. “In partnership with Hasbro, eOne and our studio partner Nickelodeon, we’re thrilled to continue telling the story of the Malto family and the new generation of Transformers robots.”

The original animated series will make its weekly debut on Nickelodeon beginning this Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 P.M., ET/PT. In the one-hour premiere, “Secret Legacy,” Robby has trouble adjusting after his family’s big move to the rural town of Witwicky until he and his sister, Mo, discover the first-ever earthborn Transformers. The previously released episodes will continue to debut Fridays on Nickelodeon through March 3.

TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK introduces a new generation of Transformers robots – the first to be born on Earth – and together with the humans who welcome them and care for them, they’ll redefine what it means to be a family.

The dynamic voice cast of TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK includes Sydney Mikayla (“Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts”) as Robby Malto, Zion Broadnax (“Day Shift”) as Mo Malto, Benny Benni Latham (“Cornerstones: Founding Voices of the Black Church”) as Dot Malto, Jon Jon Briones (“Ratched”) as Alex Malto, Kathreen Khavari (“Dead End: Paranormal Park”) as Twitch, Zeno Robinson (“Big City Greens”) as Thrash, Danny Pudi (“Community”) as Bumblebee, Alan Tudyk (“Resident Alien”) as Optimus Prime, Rory McCann (“Game of Thrones”) as Megatron, Cissy Jones (“The Owl House”) as Elita-1, Diedrich Bader (“Better Things”) as Mandroid, Cyrus Arnold (“Diary of a Wimpy Kid”) as Jawbreaker, Z Infante (“Dead End: Paranormal Park”) as Nightshade and Stephanie Lemelin (“Dawn of the Croods”) as Hashtag.

TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK is created and co-executive produced by Dale Malinowski (“Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and executive produced by Ant Ward (“Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”). The series is developed for television by Claudia Spinelli, senior vice president of Big Kids Animation, Nickelodeon. Production is overseen for Nickelodeon by Mikiel Houser, executive in charge of production, and for eOne by Kari Rosenberg.

I've no streaming services, so I'm technically excited for the 2-parter Nick will be cable-debuting that same day. Yippie.

Aren't you guys getting sick and tired of all the streaming services?
Hulu, Netflix, paramount plus, disney plus, apple plus, sony plus.
Can't even torrent the series, it's insane.

Am I the only one who thought...

I mean - I know Hollywood is infamous now for lazily rehashing old ideas, but couldn't they even come up with an original idea for the promo artwork?

It is on Nicktoons at the moment (at least it will be once it stops being Spongebob), Earthspark and Star Trek Prodigy were both on there.

In France,it is diffused on Nickelodeon, you have to pay for it but it is not a streaming service, the usual belgian dubber of Optimus has recently died sadly.
The episode where Swindle fight over an empty truck and the one where arachnamechs lose to wood stick are bizarre,no over intellectuallism.

Mo is devoided of blemishes under the pretexte she is a young child, the writer's virtual daughter. For exemple:Kerrigan in STARCRAFT has the diplomatic immunity.

Meridian is nothing captivating outside maybe his look, pantomy and french dub "oversold, even with low expectations".
2 fondamental errors:
-he modifies his body instead of a secret artificial one with a cockpit more crédible. It makes zero sense and it may spoil a twist where he becomes a monster. No innovation on his sbires while we're at it.
-he receives some help from :CON: and that's hypocritical, also,i don't like the dynamic of the miraculous heroes pets versus the hard working retarded man,i would have suggested that he receives a miracle himself, acting as a surge of power and motivation,"now,he feels like he can succeed".

An interesting observation/truth. 'Seasons' used to have meaning, because TV shows were produced seasonally. With the Fall season being when most shows had their traditional premieres. I remember well - most networks would have big productions introducing each new show. For Saturday cartoons, they had actual TV specials during prime time to show off the new ones. In the streaming age though, that's all out the windows. New shows are introduced on whim, with episodes staggered out and no seeming rhyme or reason to it. And entire seasons are released all at once for 'binge' watching, rather than needing to wait for just one episode per week, stretched out over six months.

So it's good in some ways, bad in others. You can watch it all at once, but the episodes and even entire seasons don't feel as monumental because they're over and done in a flash.

No spoilers, yet, and I am still not three episodes in, but

Drinking Game Idea; for the second episode take a shot every time they say alt mode. You will be in liver failure by the first commercial.

Tarantulas is not the Beast Wars Character. At first I wasn’t fond of the voice, but he is a aVERY beautifully written character and I love how they have incorporated his bot and al modes. Much like Airachnid. There is an especially poignant undertone to this series and this season especially about discovering yourself and I think it’s fantastic and fantastically well done. A great use for Transformers in a children’s show that isn’t just robots shooting at each other. Some parts I still find cringey and overdone for child humor but overall this series deserves high praise for what it is doing.

That Megatron episode was more mature and better written than anything from the WFC trilogy. This show confirms that Transformers media fares much better as kids content.

Cyberverse seemed like a filler line compared to RID2015. But Earthspark seems like even more of a filler line compared to Cyberverse. I had hopes with Nicole Dubuc involved, but the brief appears to have been: be pointless and do a lot of MECH-type stuff, while pretending that Cybertronians created on Earth from Cybertronian tech and Cybertronian materials are a different species.
It's called "Earthspark," but its world is even tinier than Jasper, NV. The Rescue Bots had a tangible mission as far as the humans. The banal human family in this thing exists for no reason other than McGuffin contrivance. The entire underlying drama of the family evaporated immediately as soon as the robots showed up, demonstrating that was contrived and manufactured too. I can't believe this got green-lit. I actually miss the days of the stupid animal-themed vehicular Decepticons from RID2k15.

It also revealed that the entire G1-animated recounting of those events by Alex back in the first episode were completely exaggerated.

Transformers Beast Wars, Animated, and Prime remains unbeatable to these days.

Well, if I see there's bits of raw liver on top of the icecream cone, I wouldn't lick it.

Beast Wars was ugly but the writing was brilliant. So I could get pass Earthspark's creepy faces. But any show that take the pronoms thing seriously is an instant nope. It's not just the "culture war" thing. This show looks like it's been choked by checking the most ESG boxes possible. Most of the show could be awesome, but like that "white privilege" line from The Batman, this feels like the waitress just spat in my soup.

At least, I take solace in knowing that those things are coming to an end and are failing one after the other.
I hope the next show will start fresh (another "reboot" but eh.) and will be the next Prime.

Just because it was something that did not resonate with you, does not mean it has not resonated with many others. It's not "pushing an agenda" or anything, it is literally just portraying a reflection on modern times. And from what I can tell discussing the show with people outside the binary gender spectrum, Nightshade has been beautiful and uplifting to them.

There is care going into these characters, and they have been doing a great job of putting together a show that is both beautiful and rich in characters and content.

As for failing, there is still 1 more batch of 8 episodes to go, and Season 2 was already greenlit.

I specifically said that it doesn't appeal to ME.
s
So eh, to each their own like they say.

As for success or failure, it always depends on how much money and viewership the show/movie will bring.

As for all these "greenlit seasons" in advance, it means nothing. It's putting the ox after the cart. Things will get canceled if the money is not there. See Willow S02 for example.

There's a difference between "doesn't appeal to me" and what you originally said, and given your track record, there is reason to believe you meant it in a very specific way.

And given how much more attention Earthspark gets than other Paramount+ programs on social media, I'd say it's doing pretty well. The interaction of the show staff with the fandom is also a nice benefit.

From what I have seen, Willow was a miracle to even get a season 1. Not that there really is any evidence outside of "eye test" items like social media discussion and presence to gauge the viewership.

so far, the show has been a success, and a very enjoyable one that that.

Oh, just pointing out that some cartoon shows clearly have an "agenda" and their creators are pretty open about it.

But here, this feels more like "following a trend" à la "Hello fellow kids". It's a bit cringe, but not more. Earthspark is no Proud Family reboot nor a Velma, thank God.

Finally got the chance to watch the next batch of episodes this weekend, and so far I have gotten to watch them all with my wife too. It had led to some fun conversations with someone who really isn't into transformers.

Now it has been a week, so I think we are good on spoilers, but just in case:

SPOILERS BELOW

Happy? Happy.

Hashtag oops was a fun episode, and what I really appreciate is that we finally have a nice tall Terran (especially how cute it is for Twitch to sit on her shoulder), another new alt mode for the group, and the fact that she seems to be tapped into the internet as we know it. That is a fun little gift to have moving forward.

Outtakes was pretty good as well. Jawbreaker is kinda my favorite of the 5 terrans so far. I love the conversations regarding choosing alt modes, and I love how much focus is put on finding a good alt mode. This episode also continues to show just how good this Megatron is. And I love the sort of joy he felt at being asked about his alt mode.

Missed Connection may have been my favorite of the new episodes? Nightshade got a good chance to shine, and wow did they make a good Tarantulas. I saw that they used a lot of Wreckers Trilogy to write him, and it showed. He was really good, and I loved the conversations and he Nightshade had. I think the best part of the exchange of how an alt mode further expresses you as a person, rather than being an inherit need where if you don't have one you are incomplete. Nightshade had a great focus episode, and they are definitely a strong character for the show. Also, my wife was cheering when they took on an owl alt mode, she is particular to beast-formers.

Security protocols was a good episode, felt maybe like a minute of run time was cut off to fit the timeframe, but I loved Breakdown, and his relationship with Bumblebee. Damn, a 2nd show in a row making me love a Stunticon? We had better get a good toy of Breakdown, that was an awesome alt mode and robot mode design. I LOVED it!

Bear Necessities was the cocaine bear crossover we didn't realize we needed, and it was funny to watch, especially with the baby bear. Also, continues to show just how not very good GHOST is. I'll have closing thoughts on GHOST in general.

Warzone was a nice focus episodes, with more excellent Megatron content, and I appreciated Thrash getting some focus here. Thrash may be my 2nd favorite of the Terrans, and I am glad he got some more chance to shine, especially with the whole thing about how they need to learn from their ancestors so they don't repeat their mistakes.

The Home 2-parter was really fun, and also a great reflection on the life of a Transformer on earth as it is. We got to see the side of humanity that is apathetic or just antagonistic in general, and it was good to see this kind of adversity in this manner. the bot brawls were also fun, and I appreciate Brawl getting movie Brawl's arm. I loved Grimlock, though I long to see him in robot mode proper instead of silhouette and hear how he will fit into the story. I also like Hashtag using her wheels to wheel around, I love when transformers use their alt mode parts in robot mode. Also, Mandroid is going further off the rails and it is great! and him being in cahoots with the GHOST head is great too, murky new waters await.

Closing thoughts/general notes.

Wife and i discussed Jawbreaker in depth, and 2 things. 1, we feel pretty confident that he is written to be on the Autistic spectrum, and if so, that is a nice little thing thrown in there for us. 2nd thing, I think Grimlock is going to be a key to Jawbreaker choosing his alt mode, and when he does choose it, my wife is thinking gorilla alt mode (and she wants another beast and it does with his name), but I am wondering if he will end up being a triple changer. I am very invested in his story.

GHOST continues to get worse, and it's interesting to see just how deep into this they are going. I am thinking that Season 1 ends with the Transformers in general cutting ties with GHOST, and all of them being on the run from GHOST.

I really hope we see Breakdown again, He was a joy.

with that flare of the Ember Stone at the end of Home, I also think we might be seeing some more Terrans soon. And I am open to that, they are a great joy and something very nice and new here.

It's also fun how each Terran has a pretty different alt mode. we have a drone, a bike, a communications van, and an owl. I love the variety.

That's cool, and it makes me excited for a toy, though I too 100% thought it would be a gorilla.

I've just finished the new batch of episodes, and they were really good.

It was nice to see each of the new Terrans get their own focus episode, and to get more development for the Malto family in general. Not to mention some fun guest stars, and a few intriguing set ups for future episodes.

If I had to choose, I'd say that "Warzone" is my favorite of the new episodes, due to the focus on Megatron, with more details on his switching sides.

I agree, if that is the route he goes, it is a fun route. Plus, it means that my one theory may be right and Grimlock in a way helps inspire his alt mode, and it also means that Stiggy from Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom will get to end up in Transformers!

This makes me like Wheeljack that much more, speaking as a small town Appalachian Engineer myself. Cyberverse did Wheeljack good, and Earthspark continued it, and I for one enjoy the slightly more southern accent and the retractable facemask. There is a lot to love about ES Wheeljack

When one thinks of a TV series with Longevity, several different ideas come to mind. The Simpsons in the United States for instance is in its 34th Season, and will have aired 750 episodes by the time the season ends. Dr. Who from the UK is one of the longest running series of all time. Star Trek certainly has to be in the conversation. What about Ultraman from Japan?

Yes these are all definitely examples of series that are multigenerational, and have a continuing Fandom. However The Transformers I think, has earned a respectable spot as well. The Franchise is nearing 40 years, and with dozens of animated series, and films has reached a momentous occasion that most people probably didn't notice.

By *my* count at least *(which is subjective for multiple reasons), the latest Batch of Earthspark episodes put it over the 1000 (1/2 hour) mark for content. (Episode #13 Missed Connection) Now of course this gets a bit convoluted for various reasons.

1. In recent years episodes have been of varying lengths. Many could argue; could be just 2 episodes in a 30 minute time slot (22 mins without commercials), which is fair. But some of the shows that aired in Japan, and on Streaming services, dont fit quite as nicely in those buckets, so some adjustment has to be made.

In terms of mere episodes, TF passed 1000 a little while ago (well over 1100 now actually), but combining many of those shorter episodes is now why it just passed the 1000 milestone (if all episodes were the traditional half-hour time slot).

Also in Japan, many episodes of the Original Series as well as Headmasters, MF, Victory, BWII and Neo had what are commonly known as "recap" episodes. (Episodes that catch a viewer up on linear storytelling in lieu of airing re-runs). The consensus as to whether Recap episodes should be included or not is divided among the fandom.

But still a thousand, 1/2 hours of content is quite the accomplishment, no matter what! And it is nice to see Transformers continuing on, even if the content may not be able to be fully enjoyed by all generations at this point.

Just as a frame of reference, do you know when episode 500 occurred? Well appropriately, it was for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the brand.

The Transformers Energon episode "Distribution" aired on 11/4/2004 in Japan, however in it's original Super-Link translation, this was a "Special" episode outside of the normal series named: A Must See! The Greatest Dream Matches it was purposefully made to be (more or less) the 500th episode overall

https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Distribution

Whether or not someone officially at Hasbro or TT will be crunching the numbers to acknowledge the feat of 1000 is anyone's guess, but still, we as fans can acknowledge it!
Re: Transformers Earthspark Season Season I, Part II Coming This Friday (2159568)

However, the 500-episode count for "Distribution" was greatly skewed. While it included every single recap episode that had been released in Japan at the time (either on Japanese television or on Japanese home video), it omitted The Rebirth (despite it having been eventually dubbed in Japanese and released on LaserDisc in 1996), Beast Machines (since it hadn't yet been released in Japan at the time), the two OVAs released at the time (Scramble City and Zone), and the two theater-only-released Beast Wars Metals episodes ("Bad Spark" and "Cutting Edge").

As for "Missed Connection" being a contender for the 1000th episode milestone, that's an awesome choice for such, and one that even features a legacy guest character to boot.

True. It wasn't exactly 500 by my count either for some of the reasons you mentioned. True some of these shows aired out of order in Japan, and I don't even know if some the more recent ones (Cyberverse, Bot Bots or Erthspark) have been shown in Japan,or plan to be. But 1000 episodes is still a fun milestone to look back on.

Cyberverse did get dubbed in Japan, but like Prime and RID 2015, only the first two seasons were released.

To this day, Japan has still not received Rescue Bots, Rescue Bots Academy, or BotBots.

Now, in your 1000-episode count, did you also take into account any of the following?
  • OVAs such as Scramble City, Zone, and the two RobotMasters DVD episodes
  • The four-episode Playskool Transformers: Go-Bots cartoon
  • The two Japanese-original Beast Wars Metals remix episodes, and the one Beast Wars Returns remix episode
  • Transformers: Go!
  • The Q-Transformers cartoon
  • Any web cartoons like:
    • the two Universe short animations
    • Cyber Missions
    • How to Ride Your Dinobot
    • Machinima's Prime Wars Trilogy
    • Bumblebee's First Life on Earth
    • Transformers Portal, the Russian-original web cartoon that served as an official trans-dimensional crossover between RID 2015 and Titans Return
    • Any official stop-motion video series (of which there are an enormous amount between Hasbro and Takara), such as the BeCool series, the Kre-O series, or "3 Transformers"
  • The Japanese TF: Prime TV special "Super Robot Life Form Transformers Prime: Midnight Perfect Transformation 2 Hour Special!"
  • The three-part episode version of the Predacons Rising movie that, after the movie versions initial airing, became a permanent addition to TF: Prime's episode rerun broadcasts on Discovery Family (in the same vein as how several other Prime and Animated multi-parters were first aired as TV movies/specials before airing as part of the normal episode count for those two series)
  • The individual four-part episode versions of the two Cyberverse Season 4 specials that likewise saw release digitally after the original full-length special versions were first released on Netflix
  • The Japanese-original Cyberverse special episode that aired at the end of Season 1

Thanks for this. I answered accordingly. The "No's" are a combinaiton of not knowing they existed, and feeling that if they weren't Transformers series "proper",they shouldn't count, but I understand what that constitutes is becoming more and more diverse as time goes on. Had I made this list a couple of years ago I would have omitted Bot Bots. Had I made it 10 years ago, I would have omitted RB & RBA entirely.

I am not averse to adding any of these specifically. What about Angry Birds vs TF? Was that even a cartoon? (I avoided all things having to do with it, so I am unsure) ;) . What about that TF/Nezha crossover from China, did that ever happen?

If someone wants to make a true Master list Tallying all episodes, I'd be curious to see where we stand. Different people may have different stipulations, but for me, all I'd ask is:

1. That we decide definitively if "Recap" episodes should be included in the overall total

2. That if a series has episodes or chapters that are shorter than 30 minutes (or 22 allowing for commercials), that the content be fit in as best as possible EX: The entirety of Machinima Combiner Wars is 8 "chapters" of varying length (some 3 minutes, some 5, I think the last is closer to 8 ??) but its entirety is about 48 minutes, so I just called that 2 "Episodes" total.

3. Should we include TF:TM and Predacons Rising? -These are BOTH films that were cut up into chapters and aired on TV after the fact. I dont mind adding them , or not, we just need a consensus.

4. I do NOT wish to add The episodes that aired in 1988 with Tommy Kennedy/Puppet Prime, nor do I wish to add G2 episodes, since these were merely the same content as the original series just re-edited *(sans the possibility of TF:TM stated above).

Nope. Only games, comics, books, and toys, an album, and cinematically-animated trailers.

o.supreme wrote:What about that TF/Nezha crossover from China, did that ever happen?
Nope. We can blame Covid and political relations between the U.S. and China for that one not getting to happen. The only media it got released were an animated trailer and one stop-motion video.

o.supreme wrote:1. That we decide definitively if "Recap" episodes should be included in the overall total
I'd say so. Oftentimes, the Japanese ones have content/information exclusive to them not found in any normal episode. This is even true for the three Saban-made recap episodes for RID 2001 that were completely different from the three Car Robots recap episodes they replaced. One of the BWII recap episodes even created a new story out of footage recycled from its preceding episodes, while another BWII recap episode was partially animated with brand new material that made that part of it feel like a new episode unto itself.

o.supreme wrote:3. Should we include TF:TM and Predacons Rising? -These are BOTH films that were cut up into chapters and aired on TV after the fact. I dont mind adding them , or not, we just need a consensus.
I'd definitely say so in the case of Predacons Rising, since it's still rerunning as Episodes 66-68 of Prime to this day, and it strikes me as no different than when Animated's "Transform and Roll and Out" and "TransWarped" both first aired as TV specials before being broken up into episode form later. Even Prime had this happen to its first three episodes of Season 3 originally airing in Singapore as a TV movie, and upon first watching that version of those three episodes, they were so cohesively connected that I honestly couldn't tell when each part ended and began (this version of those episodes was later released on DVD with the fourth episode added to the whole as the feature-length special "Dawn of the Beast").

It makes me very happy for my favorite Terran.

One of the more fun aspect of Transformers Earthspark has been seeing how the Terrans choose their alt mode. This is new lore within the Transformers brand, and a big contrast to the million year old characters who had pre-established alt mode types. Jawbreaker still has not chosen an alt mode in the show, but after that excellent episode featuring Tarantulas, it seemed certain his would lean towards an animal mode, like Nightshade. Well, we now have our first look at his alt mode and it is a Pachycephalosaurus (well, a Stygimoloch, but both are classified as the same dinosaur at the moment). We can see that dino mode ever so briefly in the sizzle reel from Nickelodeon below. We also have an image of his robot mode from french tv site gulli.fr where they give a summary of the character which you can read below in either French or English.

Jawbreaker

Jawbreaker is a gentle giant! Its robust and bulky exterior hides great sensitivity. He often forgets his size and strength. "We didn't need this wall, did we?" soon became a Malto family saying.
Jawbreaker is excited to be part of a family, because it's like a team where everyone loves each other.
JB believes in seeing the best in everyone, and if you don't see it, you should strive to bring it out.
Of all the siblings, he is the most in tune with each other's emotions because he is driven by his own.
He is the only Earthling with a nickname, JB, which makes him feel accepted and special.
Jawbreaker is most curious about the Terran's connection to their Cybertronian heritage and what they can learn from it. He dreams of one day becoming a legend like Optimus Prime.
Jawbreaker chose a non-aggressive herbivore that lived in packs, a Bone-Headed STYGIMOLOCH (aka "Stiggy"), as his alternate mode. In battle mode, he uses his unbreakable armored skull to stun enemies and defend friends. He loves to party by cuddling with his little T. Rex arms.
