Why the question mark in the title?

OH, hello Takara, here's more of my money

*sigh* I loved TF: Prime, but I'm regretting buying the huge-ass 'Beast Hunter Optimus' a little bit. Not worthy of the show character at all. Sure GO! is a bit on the 'cheap kids anime side' but the toys and character designs just seem to be appealing more. I'm excited for this new toy...I kinda bought 'Prime' Optimus for the sake of it.

Still, that said, when we see this design in toy form it could suck. Though maybe not as much as AoE Prime currently looks. What we really need is toys like this but a story more like TF: Prime. Or at least anime that takes TF a bit more seriously.
I am a fan of what I have seen of GO! so far though

Nope. When LOST Cybertronian posted it to the Front Page as news there was a question mark at the end of the title. Obviously it's gone now.

Say, that train alt-mode of Prime looks like a futuristic Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime with a Japanese astetic look.

Well that didn't take long! Just this morning we got our first glimpse of Takara Tomy's upcoming Transformers Go! G26 Opimus EX Prime from a promotional store display, but it was only a peek at his animation model. Now thanks to a user on TinyPic we have our first look at the actual figure! The version of Optimus Prime sports three modes: robot, bullet train, and dragon - plus he has the ability to combine with G01 Kenzan and G05 Gekisomaru. Check him out below!

Robot mode Optimus looks pretty cool. Can't tell with the dragon mode at the moment from that pic. The gestalt forms look bad unfortunately.

Looks rather kibbly. I'm not that interested at this time.

Of course it won't be perfect but if we compare it to Beasthunter Optimus.........

Not quite. Judging by what I can see, Prime has normal hips, as he only forms the middle and therefore has no need for the high hips.

He sort of reminds me of G1 Starsaber. The red upper torso and the white and blue "pants"

And they are getting less "alien insect like" with every release. Keep it going Tomy!

Animation wise, I wonder how they're going to shoehorn him back to the story. From truck to train?

I say Dragon Train, if you're talking about his dragon mode. Wouldn't be the first time a Japanese toy company has done it

Dragon Mode looks less like a dragon and more like a DRAGON-THEMED BATTLESHIP!!!

I think this OP has some potential especially since his alt-mode is not a truck of some kind.

So I'm thinking to call this Drago-convoy.

From kibble-laden Prime to bullet train to a mess!

Normally I would be mildly drooling over a Takara/Tomy release since we don't usually have anything quite so cool here in the States but in this instance I will say that I'm impressed with the train and bot modes (although the inevitable re-deco would need to be done to make him a bit more "Prime"ish color wise, not just the small red patch in front) but I could honestly care less about the dragon mode and his combined form... I find it lacking and not even worthy of Energon/Powerlinx proportions.

It's a good figure, don't get me wrong. I would not for one second pass up adding it to my Prime collection and I'll take it over any U.S. release BH Prime. I'm just not thrilled with it and think they could have stopped with just two modes for him and still had a very decent figure. The dragon mode is just too much and the combiner mode... ugh. Just my own opinion, I know many of you will love it and you are well entitled to.

The combined form names are as follows:

Kenzan on top, Prime in the middle, Gekisoumaru as the legs = "DaiKenzen".

Gekisoumaru on top, Prime in the middle, Kenzan as the legs = "DaiGekisou".

I have concern because there's a big text box over his middle much like the early shots of the three figure teams. They might be covering.

Well, that's disappointing. Robot mode looks like a mix between Galaxy Force Convoy and DOTM Sentinel Prime. Bullet train is of course bullet train. And the "dragon" mode looks reminiscent of Drago's cannon mode from Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. I'm sure if this thing didn't have to combine with anything else, it might have actually looked half decent.

Yep. No top or leg modes for him.

Though, it looks like some of Prime's parts can be added as armor to the top guys to make a new look for them in these combinations.

chuckdawg, as others have already said, Kenzam and Gekisoumaru cannot connect to each other, so Prime NEEDS to always be the middle.

Yeah I was but he had a good point. The two other figures could never connect to each other directly because the ports are different.

Train looks decent, robot looks like it's in denial about not turning into a truck, and I'm not sure what's going on with the dragon mode. I see a dragon head, but it otherwise looks like, well, nothing.

Very intrigued about this.

If they do a Nemesis version or a character that is not optimus I'll get it. (Not that I don't like Optimus it just I have enough of him)

What if they make a black version of Optimus to go with the black versions of Kenzan and Gekisoumaru, but make it be just the real Optimus in a color-changed upgrade (like how the black redecos of Kenzan and Gekisoumaru are) instead of a Nemesis?

That new pic ever reinforces my want for the figure. That serrated double blade weapon of his.........send shivers to my legs.

From the looks of it, the prime part is going to provide the 2 head parts for the 2 super mode.

I must say he looks interesting. Then again, I'm biased towards trains and dragon, and he has both.

"Dai" meaning something big or great so it's kind of like great Kenzan or great Gekisuomaru. Gives me goose pimples just waiting for the release.

Hmm, his Tweet refers to the toy as "Optimus Express" instead of "Optimus EX Prime".

And the titles are "Samurai/Shinobi Renketsu Sanjou Gattai", or "Samurai/Shinobi Connecting Triple Combination"... Ugh, the more kanji a title has the more convoluted the meaning becomes.

I can imagine a repaint for this toy into Nemesis Prime. Though his name might Dark Convoy. It's just like the Japanese Beast Wars has came back!
