Because Hasbro needs to sell toys. Why does it matter anyway? They did the same thing with Cliffjumper and Skyquake.

I figure it's because of the small cast. Beast Wars, Animated, and any other Transformers series all had more bots on either side than Prime has. That's why we're getting more of the same characters when really we shouldn't be.
I'd hoped they would have done a Beast Hunters version of Breakdown, but I guess not.

Beast Wars is cutting it close. It's the weekend, so I'm not going to do any maths, but I think the Prime cast is only a few short. It's just that most of the Cons have died and stayed dead pretty quickly, whilst BW tended to replace the casualties.
BW also had quite a few different versions of their different show characters. In many cases it was done in conjunction with the character models in the show changing as well, but there were the various Fox Kids repaints as well as those Transmetals that didn't get Transmetalized in the show. It's just with BW there were dozens of non-show characters made as toys, some of them repaints or retools of show characters, yes, but many not. TFPrime has only had Dead End, Rumble, Hot Shot and Kup in the main line that I can think of as non-show characters, plus a few cyberverse repaints.

Yet with a certain charm...
The kibble in jet mode is bad. I expected to see his feet, but the arms too? Bad Hasbro.
I really hate the feet, but if they were painted blue or gray I might be more receptive. The figure isn't quite as terrible as the stock photo made it look, but it's still not high on my purchase list.

not sure I'd worry about that. Think Hasbro UK has put out all the TFs they're going to this year, at least til near x-mas.

Not really. The Skyquake and Zombie Cliffjumper figures are show accurate to their brief appearances. Plus they were just repaints. This is a waste of an brand new mold. It's wasted plastic they could have used to make deluxe sized Terrorcons. Thats how Hasbro could sell some serious numbers.

Don't care too much about the axe; at least he has a somewhat show-accurate underslung RPG-whatever.
This figure makes me wonder if Dreadwing might make a return, despite the writers' mantra.

I don't think it's supposed to be a Gerwalk. It looks like the photographer was trying to capture its functionality as a Transformer. I've seen BUNCHES of images similar to this.

The Beast Wars Terrorsaur toy was a basic and a good match for the character in the show. Then he was killed in the show at the end of season 1. In the second season of the toys he had a new mold as a transmetal deluxe but he never returned to the show. Same thing happened to Airrazor. Basic toy, matched to the show. Disappeared from the show after season 1 but got a new updated deluxe toy anyway in the 2nd season of the toys. Technically she sorta came back in the third season but that was in a third mold anyway. Seems like they don’t need the toys to match exactly to the show and vice versa.

Right, forgot about the Beast Wars characters that were killed off, yet were given Transmetal toys.

Though I would be interested in a Tigerhawk repaint, or Foghorn Leghorn repaint. Either would fit XD

Seriously, is it really that hard to put a panel on the forearm for it to rotate around inside?

First, since Dreadwing is by far one of the COOLEST Con characters, it makes me wanna like his figures...the Voyager was BOSS, so here are my thoughts on this one...
1) the whole bird theme is kinda cool, it's growing on me. I was wracking my brain thinking of what it reminded me of (NOT a chicken) and I figured it out...He-Man's Talon Fighter!! lol
2) These pics make him look way better than the stock photos we saw before...spreading the wings out just makes it look dumb.
3) It looks like he has that "marble" effect like Bumblebee and Wheeljack, which makes it cool looking.
4) Last thought...I honestly think this looks pretty cool overall EXCEPT the damn yellow!! if there was a repaint of this it would look completely badass... Might have to get two and try and do some custom work
I will get it...at Walmart, since they are cheaper than eveyone else, even thought Target did have deluxes on for $10 the other day.

Try this instead: Shockwave came back, cloned the current and former Decepticon ranks while mixing the clones with Precacon DNA and out pops alligator Knockout, parrot Soundwave, pterodactyl Starscream and owl Dreadwing. He also tried upgrading himself using Predacon DNA/technology and that's why he has those bestial pieces that look like some sort of beetle/mole thing.
Thing is that they're toys. Do, say or think whatever you want with or about them. Why rely on the show to dictate what you do or don't get so long as you like the figure, character, alt mode or transformation and have the means to get it?
I for one like that figure and if I had the money I'd buy it regardless of if I had the voyager or if Dreadwing comes back or stays dead. Sure the feet are weird and the undercarriage junk is terrible but the bot mode looks cool and I want it.

Apparently these days ... yes it is.
Robots in Disguise? Yeah ... not so much.

Between the bird look in beast jet mode and the dirty look thanks to that swirly crap Hasbro's been doing with the plastics, we've got ourselves a dirty bird. I guess Hasbro finally got sick of all the complaints and decided to flip us off .

NO.
And seriously... it looks almost identical to this:
Dude, your gun is too heavy.
So is your axe.
No, combining a heavy thing and another heavy thing does not make a lighter thing
And his legs are WAY too short.

When Eric Siebenaler transferred out, the TF division went to $#!7. Rumor I heard was that a new team of designers have rotated in, much like they had in the past. (Think Armada...)
This figure is an example. This is a big reason why I choose 3rd party over HasTak whenever possible.
They've done better, they CAN do better. This is a joke.

Alpha Weltall wrote:So what if he's dead and they made another toy for him? Does it really bother people that much for people to constantly complain about things like that?
I think these complaints are a side effect of just how hard this figure sucks, especially in comparison to the already-released (yet seemingly always hard-to-find) Voyager figure. That is: we already have a (very) good figure; this is a lousy one; and there's not even (likely to be) a tie-in to the fiction.
Thus, the exercise of designing and releasing this figure just seems rather pointless. Especially when the line is missing a Voyager Hardshell and a US release of the (increasingly prominent in the fiction) Jet Vehicon.
I for one like that figure and if I had the money I'd buy it regardless of if I had the voyager or if Dreadwing comes back or stays dead. Sure the feet are weird and the undercarriage junk is terrible but the bot mode looks cool and I want it.
If you do get the money reasonably soon, do yourself a favor and prioritize getting the RID Voyager figure. He can still be had for $30 on Amazon.
I'm guessing many of these Beast Hunters figures will be flooding the likes of Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ross soon enough.
