Welcome to the latest episode of the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast! This episode features your host ScottyP, xRotorstormx, and RodimusConvoy13. And with us as always is Garth... oh, wait, wrong show.

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
You didn't even notice if I was there.

Episode #172 "Ready For Launch" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.

As we move closer to the release of Transformers: The Last Knight, a new trailer, Nemesis, has dropped. Check it out here along with a gallery of over 1600 HD screen caps from the trailer. We discuss what is new and whether this trailer has peaked our interest even more Why is it called Nemesis? Is Optimus Evil? Was seeing Quintessa a big spoiler or will general audiences have any idea who she is? We speculate wildly and we're probably wrong, but only time will tell.

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
Everyone is always sweaty and dirty in Michael Bay's world.

Another timely topic is brought up after the trailer talk. The Last Knight Movie Toy Launch Day! We've gotten info from Hasbro that the release date for the new Movie Toy line is Monday, April 24th. We give our expert advice on what to look out for on Launch Day. What has our past experiences taught us? Should you buy all the toys immediately or take your time? What happens if you clean out one store? Launch Day can be a lot of fun, so grab a friend and head out. We also discuss what we're most looking forward to in this first wave. What is on our shopping list?

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
Take me home, ScottyP!

Next up is a Transformers Superstar(and social media pariah apparently), Takara MP-36 Megatron! Scotty tells us about the amazing engineering of this hugely anticipated figure. We discuss the initial reactions of fans on social media and some of the various "flaws" that were reported. Did the internet blow things out of proportion? We talk how it is ok to use the instructions. They're included for a reason. All in all this is a fantastic figure with great accessories. Let us know what you think in the discussion thread!

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
Seriously, do you need him in any other pose?

We move on to Takara Legends Target Master Kup. Oh, Kup, does anyone really know what color you are? Are you green, gray, blue, teal, greenish gray, grayish green, greenish blue? What color are you? We talk about what version we like better. Was it bad photography or did Takara change their mind?

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
At my age, never trust a backfire out your tailpipe.

We also got a new trailer for Robots In Disguise Season 3. Listen as Scotty is disappointed in his podcast mates for not watching the trailer or show. We discuss how they'll handle combining in the RiD universe. Will the 'Bots learn to work together? We also see the introduction of some old fan favorites like Soundwave. How has he changed since his days in Transformers: Prime?

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
So basically they took the Prime version and mixed with the Animated version of me. Then G1-ized my voice.

We move on to a listener question from Seibertronian Amelie. She asks: Should characters that were "similar" in G1 always be used as remolds\redecos in modern lines? (Soundwave\Blaster and Ironhide\Ratchet, for example) This is a great question and one not easily answered. We get differing opinions depending on the characters and also what version of the characters? Is Energon Ironhide the same character as G1 Ironhide? Some figures can just be repaints of each other because that's been the precedence, but would you accept totally new versions of the characters with completely unrelated alt modes? Find out what we think and join us to discuss this more on the boards! As always, if you have questions for us, submit them to the Ask the Twincast Thread.

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
Grr.. this guy... :-x

We had a couple of new items pop up shortly before the show. The first being IDW's newest Hasbro property cross over "First Strike" It looks to be another take on Transformers vs GI JOE. Baron Ironblood and Cobra set out to exterminate the Cybertronians. GI JOE teams up with Optimus Prime's team to fight back. Find out what our thoughts are on this new announcement. This crossover has already sparked a lot of discussion on the boards - are you excited for it?

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
Too many hew-mons!

The next new bit of information is Hasbro's "Reveal Your Shield" Transformers Celebration. Hasbro encourages you to "reveal your shield" via social media, Transformers.com, or the Transformers app. What will we see? New toys are nearly a given. What else will there be?

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
No, man, you're not getting reissued. It's reveal YOUR shield, not "the".

Finally, we end the show with a new segment called "Blast from the Past." We tell you about some older toys that we've "rediscovered" recently. We've got figures ahead of their time, G1, Beast Wars Metals, and obscure 90's toys! Find out what we love about them, then let us know what you've recently "rediscovered" in the discussion thread!

Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #172 "Ready For Launch"
I feel pretty, oh so pretty. And stabby!

We'll be back unusually soon for more fun and discussion, and who knows what else - 'Til all are One, or is that 'Till'?

Listening back to that impromptu rant, yeesh, there are some kinda not great arguments in there. Oh well, that's what I get for throwing shade on the fly

I won't have time to listen till latter in the week, but I'm looking forward to at least the MP-36 portion of this 'cast. Given the complete 180 I was forced to do on this figure once I got him in hand, I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Working therough it, but on the subject of the movie Wreckers, we saw one of them (fat Target gut felle) getting destroyed in one of the video screens somewhere or other. I noticed it when I subjected myself to AoE again.

It's such a good toy and I think I've yet to hear anyone give and honest justification for disappointment with it, outside of the folks that unfortunately got pieces with really bad QC. Reddit is a cesspool of folks that don't want to pay for it justifying why third party MP Megatron X is better, and yikes, it's just not close. I have Apollyon, I really like Apollyon, but it doesn't hold a candle to MP-36. This is all stuff not in the episode, which is more of just general and hopefully informative praise :)

I forgot about that. Once tried to start an Urban Legend/BS rumor that Leadfoot got killed so unceremoniously due to Target backing out of the deluxe two pack exclusive during DotM but it never took hold

I feel bad, because I don't know who I downloaded this from, but this is why MP Megatron is so amazing. For stuff like this. Whoever did this picture, my hat is off to you. Brilliant!

That is genuinely awesome. I doubt my beloved Despotron could do that.

I have something to say about the comics discussions that ScottyP was starting, especially about renumbering and 'event fatigue'.

While I obviously, as the comics team knows, agree on the fact that the TF books are very good indeed, and should not be sacrificed due to being bummed out by IDW's marketing corporate synergy, I also want to point to this very long, very good article, based on both quantitative and qualitative reviews of the comics market, mostly from Marvel perspective, but some general big names overall.

My addition, to all that, is that event fatigue is real for the comics world, and that can spill over into TF comics. Plus you have the PAramount wider universe forcing to happen, Hasbro universe forcing to happen, if all you follow is the news cycle rather than the stories themselves (say you pick them up as trades), I can see why it would be annoying, frustrating, overwhelming, disappointing.

Plus, I don't think any of us can really call out others for feeling this way. I know that lack of support on a book that we like may mean fewer sales and fewer books in the future, but that something got me a little 'eyebrow-raising'.

^ All fair points! As I stated earlier in the thread (albeit in a different way), that rant was so off the cuff and impromptu that there are some weak, thin arguments made within it.

My personal frustration comes from the kneejerk, uninformed, reactionary opinions that these crossovers and events are inherently terrible. I get that because some readers don't want the "line of comics" to keep up with, they fear they'll be lost during these events, and thus drop out to avoid the confusion. That's understandable, sure, but I really can't stress enough to anyone reading this that the Hasbro U books are siloed really well, in my opinion, and I think you really can taste just as small a portion as you prefer and still enjoy whatever said portion is.

Maybe with Action Man and Micronauts over, and with MASK and Revolutionaries also due to wrap soon, we're going to a point with just TF books, ROM, Joe, and some catch-all for everyone else. That could help widen the appeal or win a few folks back that don't want the "line" of comics like what was mentioned in that article. Then again, it could just be making room for Visionaries, Inhumanoids, and whatever comes next for Jem.

Which is obviously "Binaltech * 2.0: Totally Outrageous!"
