Another great show guys. Although I couldnt watch Armada went it came out, and tried to give it a go a few years back there were some good toys from the series. Ive tried giving comics a read a few times but all ended in failure. Again I enjoy listening to the show :MAXIMAL:

Just don't think of Slug as G1 Slag. Also, Japan, never got the WFC/FOC video games. ;)

I think the G1 Starscream also had a female fanbase, particularly in Japan since his Japanese voice wasn't like the high-pitched raspy shrill voice Chris Latta gave him, but more of a... "Bishonen" voice that many a Japanese female would find attractive.

That planet they fought Nemesis Prime on and got their Powerlinx colors wasn't Unicron. It was a planet composed of salt and technorganic materials. When we see them on Unicron later in the series but prior to Unicron's awakening, it's shown as a very dark and horrifying place, unlike the bright and sunlight look of the planet Nemesis was on.

Unicron's heralds in the comic were Galvatron, Scourge, Dirge, Thunderwing, and Bludgeon. :D

You could easily stop the countdown on Jetfire's weapon. While pulling the fin started the countdown, pressing it made the gun laser sound, which could stop the countdown. ;)

LOL at the countdown noise near the end.

Rollermaster is Straxus and Choppermaster is Blaze Master. No, really. That's who their true identities are. "Rollermaster" and "Choppermaster" are codenames. ;)

Another great and moderate-in-length one, guys. :APPLAUSE:

Another great show guys,

Re: the New alternity, so what happened with Fortress???

Re Armada: the minicons redesigned the collectability of the toys,
and all the blind bags........... I still like to pop any universes minicons Universe/Generations/micron boosters, on Primes trailer/base.

Linkage was the best Comic of the series, and I'm not just thinking about Stella .

Another excellent foray into the madness that is the Twincast. Really glad about this one, as I've been going out of my way to hear fan opinions on Armada ten years later. I may not have the entire line, or mass amounts of mini-cons/microns, but I loved that line, and the comics, and to a far lesser extent, the show. In all forms of media, it really did have a lot going on, and paved the way for a lot of things to come, so it's really nice to hear a retrospective look at the good and the bad of this surprisingly influential series. Good on ya, gents.

To this day, I do not get the love for Armada, the cartoon. It's pretty wretched. The first half of the first episode is great. Then, straight downhill. Go watch it again, I'll wait. Yes, some concepts were introduced that were interesting. Most were introduced poorly or in a completely confusing manner. Nearly the entirety of the show is difficult to watch due to how poor the writing and dialogue is. I beg you to watch it again and reconsider how you view it. The rose-tinted recollection is hard to swallow.

The comics however and later Energon, good stuff. I was sad to see the book cancelled and was very interested in seeing where it was going. The dimension hopping? It's what my avatar and sig, my entire Seibertron persona is based on.

Armada revived my waning love for Transformers, from the comics to the toys to the cartoon. Sadly, it was followed up by the worst series in TF, Energon and Cybertron. I was glad that I got to watch Super-Link and Galaxy Force later on. HUGE difference.

I've got the Smokescreen with the micron on the back (arm swapped so the decal faces forward) and you all must do yourelves a favor and order that figure. It blew my mind. The mold suddenly pops with the color scheme. I showed my dad a side by side with him and Knockout and then told him it was the same mold. He said... NO WAY. So yeah... pull the trigger. Buy the figure. He will blow you away. There is a review up on youtube that should convince you, but even that doesn't do the in hand justice.

I qued the podcast to download Monday night. I saw the name of the episode and I think it effected my sleep. That night I dreamed I was at a Super Walmart (It looked like an indoor swap meet). There was a huge card that had the first wave (Prime with deluxe Autobots and Megatron with deluxe Decepticons) for sale. It was some sort of 10 year anniversary package. It is funny how quickly reading something has an impact on your dreams!

Even though I agree with the Podcast how the show improved as it went on, I feel the same way about about the cartoon too. As I watched it I felt like I was waiting for something good to happen. It lacked action. I remember when Hotshot got the Star Saber and it got exciting. It had me at the edge but nothing happened. I remember the Unicron tease with the annoying kids (BTW Carlos is the most annoying closely followed by Alexis). I continued to watch just to see what they do with Unicron. It was a loooooooooooooong wait!! :BOOM:

I'd rather have a Micro(man)lady Misha in the yellow and orange outfit. Surprised we got Kicker and not her. Dunno what the beef is with Microman but they are great figures. Especially for their time. They preceded all the super articulated stuff that Toybiz was producing for Marvel Legends.

I'll give you that it would be pretty cool to be able to pair her with Kicker in the MM format.

I think the real issue with MM figures at this point is that the sculpting never kept up. They can hide the joints pretty well now so I'd be interested in giving them another try.

I was listening to several of your podcasts at work when you were discussing Fall of Cybertron game. The issue of Slag/Slug came up and I wanted to point out that Borderlands 2 came out shortly after FoC and it too was released in the UK and they did not change their Slag weapons to Slug weapons. So, What does High Moon have to say to THAT!?

"Slag to Slug" was most likely a Hasbro mandate since it's a name that would appear in things beyond the video game. Should they made a toy of Slug, UK children would be buying a toy whose name is slur word if Hasbro had left it as "Slag".

It'd be no different if Hasbro made a Transformers toy named "Whore" in the U.S. They can't use those kinds of name without causing trouble.

Besides, FOC has a weapon called a "Slagmaker" (cannon, I think?). In that case, it's a name that, like the Borderlands 2 Slag weapons, most likely will remain in the game and will not be applied to children's merchandise. Therefore, it's usable in that regard.

Your explaination makes sense but why not just leave Slag in the game and sell the toy as Slug in the UK? It wouldn't be the first Time Hasbro has made a faux pas like that. (Transformers 2007 Devestator in film/Brawl in toy)

Using a single defined name in everything creates a better sense of unity and uniformity across multiple media formats and global markets, which is a much better and smarter business practice than to otherwise use inconsistency with the name. ;)

Not to mention that this isn't G1 Slag anyway. :-B

I agree. Staying consistent is better but the way I see it, When they changed that character's name to Slug they failed to remain consistent. Your comment that it wasn't G1 Slag just affirms that viewpoint.

Your comment pretty much says it all. "...It's not G1 Slag." Therefore Slag hasn't consistently kept his name. It's like Prince changing his name to a "Formerly known" or Snoop Dogg calling himself Snoop Lion or Darth Vader, instead of being a bad ass becoming a whiny puss. (although I don't think the Vader one was a good analogy but there it is.) I understand what is being said about why they changed the name but afterall there are still plenty of Americans out there named "Dick" regardless of what slang has made it out to be. So to me Hasbro, High Moon, or whoever is just copping out.

I still don't follow. If Slug is a separate character from Slag, how does Slug's name affect the consistency of Slag's name?

I don't see how Slug is a seperate character. Dinobot. Transforms into a Triceratops. Loves to fight. Flamethrower. How is it not Slag? The rest of the other Dinobots remained consistent, with the exception of the "Animated" series where they called Slag, Snarl, and left out Sludge and the Stegosaurus who was supposed to be Snarl.

Different continuity = different character.

This Grimlock isn't the same guy as G1 Grimlock, just as Animated Grimlock wasn't the same guy as G1 Grimlock, etc.

These games are unrelated to G1, so its characters aren't the same guys as the G1 characters they pay homage to.
Re: Twincast / Podcast Episode #58 "Armada" (1456120)

I don't believe that is true. The Cybertron games are the prequel to the G1 continuity. These are the characters before they crashed to Earth. The similarities Are almost identical to say they are not the same character is ludicrous. I'm sure as future games develop, If High Moon decides to continue the franchise, We will see a convergence to the G1 continuity with some minor inclusions to give a nod to the Armada, Cybertron, RID, etc. Fanbase as well as clean up some of the 80's camp and maybe even modernize the styles to match the generations (classics) toy lines bringing Transformers full circle to its origins.

And this right here is the root of your confusion.

"Being heavily inspired by and paying homage to G1" is not the same as "being G1".

These games are not G1 games, nor are they meant to tie into any existing G1 continuity.

Sorry. I'm not buying it. Putting polish on original characters and not saying it's the original doesn't make it so. I don't trust wiki as source material no matter how acurate it may be it is not authentic. The idea you are trying to get across sounds to me like saying the Ultimate universe isn't Marvel. Granted the characters are no longer what they were essentially at it's core they are the same character. Wolverine is still Wolverine even though he is now a foot taller and goes by the name James instead of Logan. Some changes are good and can be accepted and sometimes makes for an even more interesting character but changing a characters name because it offends someone somewhere else to me is completely stupid. Changing Slag to Slug is up there with saying Happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Believe it or not, these games are Aligned Continuity games, not G1 games.

Not to mention that the whole Rage of the Dinobots comic mini-series is specifically made to be bot ha sequel to FOC and a prequel to TF: Prime season 3, helping to bridge the gap between the two.

Actually, the Cybertron games are the prequel to Prime and Rescue Bots, not G1. Exodus, WFC, FoC, Exiles, Prime, and Rescue Bots are all part of the Aligned continuity in order of events.

The similarities Are almost identical to say they are not the same character is ludicrous

Similarities don't make it the same character. Armada Optimus and G1 Optimus are both Optimus, but they are different guys. So G1 Slag and Prime Slug are different characters.
