Seriously, what's with all of the great toys coming out of no where all of a sudden!?

I also feel like the 3rd Party market is getting way too saturated. We need to put them all in a ring and thin them out, Gladiator-style. Although, I suppose while the number of 3rd Party stuff that gets announced is high, less of them actually make it to the production stage.

Now all we need to do is wait for iGear or Maketoys to announce the exact same project.

I guess I am going to have to buy this one too. It looks to awesome to pass up.

It's getting kind of pathetic how HasTak are constantly outdone by little fan owned companies.

This is good! Let the 3rd party companies steal their income and force them to offer us what we want.I have City Commander, Arcee, Rodimus, Springer, Kup (with the right head), and Optimus (faith leader) all from 3rd party companies and haven't had a complaint yet. I also have Laser and Buzzer, piledrivers for G1 Frenzy/Rumble, a war axe for WFC optimus, all the Crazy Devy devastator add ons. Not a single problem from any of them. Hasbro will have to take notice of the 3rd party success and answer it. Most likely from litigations, but it should change the market up nicely for us.
I really want this Soundwave now too!

It is surprising, given how simnplistic Soundwave's tranformation is and how popular the character is that a 3rd party has beaten Takara/Hasbro to producing an MP Soundwave.

So did I but I dont think the same rules apply in China or Japan....or they just dont give a fig.

It's almost like different countries have different laws.
This will be mine, just like every other Soundwave mold.

I suspect the law regarding this is not as tight as people assume it is. While Hasbro trademark the name of a character, I have never seen anything saying they trademark the look or design. And I think as long as it is not practically identical, then it is not a trademark infringement. After all, Hasbro do this themselves. Universe Sunstreaker looks a hell of a lot like a Lamborghini Gallardo, but not exactly so they don't have to pay anything to Lambourghini for using the likeness. Same with the Nissans (Prowl, Bluestreak, Red Alert).
This is all just assumption and observation, I'd be interested what an actual lawyer who deals with copyright infringement has to say.
But anyway, Soundwave looks awesome and props to this company for not just rehashing an idea that's already been done. Assuming the next official MP is not Soundwave, I will be keen on getting this.

Cool story, bro. Too bad the article didn't say the third party company was from another country, so how the hell was I supposed to know?

Nothing in your post referred to this specific company.
As for the laws regarding Copyright and IP, they're a very large grey area. An example of this is being shown right now thanks to Games Workshop v. Chapter House Studios.

Hmm, you just know that it will be though. Sods law says that you buy this and then Takara will come up with an even better version. HE HE.

His face is pure beauty!
I hope they make a voyager sized version of this, but if he's not to expensive or bad quality then I'll get him. And I don't collect Masterpieces

Nothing in my post referred to other companies. I could be referring to the employees of that particular company.
But I wasn't. However, some of these guys must be U.S. based, right?

Even if they are, check out the lawsuit in the works I mentioned. It involves the US arm of Games Workshop suing a US 3rd party manufacturer over supposed(more like imagined, GW hasn't made ANY actual claims and has attempted fishing expeditions twice) Copyright and IP violations.
The US laws regarding this are far from cut and dry and are indeed a pure case by case basis.

Anyone else getting tired of the oversaturation of 3rd Party product? It was awesome when it was few and far between, but it's gotten ridiculous. Especially with these guys doing anything and everything and the same stuff as each other. Stick to things that were poorly done previously or won't ever be done. Give me a proper Classics Shockwave or something.
Posted by NemesisMonkeySupreme on July 20th, 2011 @ 1:06pm CDT
And did iGear (I realise this isn't an iGear news story) actually release that Starscream, or is that just Fan Toys' own mod? I'd love for iGear (or anybody) to just release the hip mod parts as add-on/replacements for the MP line. Then I doubt people would complain as much…
This Soundwave, awesome.
It's such a simple transformation that it's almost criminal HasTak never did this, or even just a limb retool on the original mold.

I was seriously considering buying Sonicron to plug the gap in my Neo-G1 display, but now all bets are off. I must have this. MUST!

I know I am.
Everyone's jumping on that band wagon, and I personally think it's leading to some pretty awful toys on the market. Everyone and their dog is making Transformer toys now, and a lot of them just aren't that special.

And for all those playa-hatas out dare i just want to say i think you will eat your words. this looks incredibly promising.
unfortunetly i think 50% of the pop. of seibertron won't have this fige cuz we are talking about a MASTERPIECE soundwave from a new 3rd party company.
sonicron(remember it was deluxe size) - (not completely sure) $80
THIS- $100-$200 maybe even more!
