Video Review of Beast Hunters Ultimate Optimus Prime.
He is one big super robot looking Optimus Prime! Anyone that loved Galaxy Convoy (cybertron Optimus prime) will love this guy! With the basic robot design blown up from the voyager mold, this optimus has a great base.
The 5 dragon head rotary missile gimmick has a great play pattern and can be a lot of fun. It would have been great if the gimmick was removable as it needs to plug in to work in robot mode anyway. But not a must. The gimmick makes the toy a little back heavy but once you play with it a bit, you will figure the best ways to pose.
The weapons are fun, the shield being a stylized dragon head is a very nice touch. The sword/giant clever is very cool also. Both have a great design but lack basic paint applications which is a real shame. Though a easy fix for anyone that can do basic painting and washes.
This Optimus is a fun figure with plenty of play value and great 'super robot' posing options for the collectors.
Pick it up if you get it for the right price.

As a kid back in the 80s, I'd have really wanted this guy badly. However, as an adult collector there are too many things I Find wrong with this. Besides the green windows jarring even more on this figure, The truck mould is too exposed without his Shield and sword, the Scale is obviously off And if I had to choose a beast hunters prime, I'd always go for the Voyager. The gimmick is cool, if flawed and the fact it can't be detached is annoying.
I'm very happy with fe prime so both will be skipped unless I find. Bargain one day.

It's unfortunate that because this is an Optimus toy and there are people who think they owe it to themselves to buy it while all they are doing is contributing to the problem that Hasbro has in their mentality - if we make an Optimus, they'll buy it no matter what.

Not a fantastic figure by any means, but I see it as great bit of horrendous guilty fun And definetly has more credence than the voyager for me. The design of both toys are bad (to me), but this one makes up for it by being big and Prime
Shame we're not getting a serious toy of this version of Prime though. His robot and vehicle mode look awesome as the CGI model

Also does anyone else think that his shield looks a little like the show's key to vector sigma?

But, it does have a better head sculpt than the voyager.
I wonder if the heads can be swapped.

Now why would you take me so out of context like that?

Because it really sounds that bad

I said something like that about the voyager, and I meant it in some ways. But...maybe hearing it come from someone else makes me realise how 'snobby' it sounds. I don't think there is anything wrong with having toys that are fun...I'm an adult collector yes, but there is no fun in every one I own being masterpieces and alternities. as cool as they are, you can't have fun with itin the same way.
I forgive this for being simple since it has the gimmick. Yes, I prefer the days when we got good, big toys like Cybertron Prime (though not that complex in engineering in itself) and this does seem like a step down, as did the awful supreme cheetor, but it exists regardless. If I see it and want it, whatever the reason, maybe I shouldn't get so hung up on it?
Plus, like I say, I'll buy this for what I can make of it (customising). I apologise if my hobbies facilitate bad marketing ploys from Hasbro
And, why shouldn't people buy anything associated with a character they like?
(besides, I love Prime, but don't own every toy. If I don't like it I don't buy it. You'd be surprised how many actualy think like that.) I hate the voyager with a passion...but y'know, I'm prepared to get over it, I suppose :/
Toys are toys. We've been expected to buy worse...

Ultimate Optimus Prime is a big toy, and I feel I will have a lot of fun playing with him, more fun than is appropriate for an adult to have with a toy that is out of his age range.
Make that sound bad

Other things I don't like about him:
Back heavy due to a nice gimmick that wouldn't amuse me for long;
No foot articulation, in fact articulation that should be better at that size;
Lower legs are stupidly long;
Truck mode relies on weapon/kibble to cover the sloppy transformation robot yoga.

The fact that it is not removable totally kills the deal for me. If I could pull it off and stick it in a bin someplace with all the other crappy mechtech weapons from RiD, I'd do it in a second. But they've welded the darn thing on, and you have to live with it. Derp.
It's ugly, it's too big, it's too heavy, it overbalances Prime in robot mode, it gets in the way at practically every step. And to top it all off, it only 'sort of' works. Even in this review, the guy had to fuss with it a few times to get it to shoot.
I would rather they had simply focused on making it a rock solid leader class figure with a nice transformation and some reliable, but not gaudy, gimmick or two. Not this... THING.

agreed ankle tilts is a given at this size, the legs dont look so bad in person but yes are a tad long.
