Still odd that Wheelie has had so much exposure lately? I'd love to know how big the Wheelie fanbase actually is. Literally everyone I've ever talked to has hated him since his debut.

Could be more to do with checking boxes off. While they're aware they've done the character 6 years ago (side note: yikes 6 years since Titans Returns...) they're probably thinking of new fans wanting a representation of him...one that can transform of course

OOH! I may not be Sowndwave76 and I have no real stake in this argument, but as the individual who took and provided this picture back in November, I can confirm that that Target has 4-5 total Slugs and Grindors left over at this point from the combination of that endcap and the Leaders that were on the TF aisle at the same time. That endcap in the picture ended up becoming an endcap for all TF sizes once enough of those Leaders were gone, then the still-remaining Leaders got migrated to a different endcap while the first endcap got dedicated to general toy stock from multiple lines, and now there's only stock of those two Leaders left in the actual TF section. Said Target has seemingly not restocked SS Leaders since that initial endcap of just Slugs and Grindors, but honestly they could have and I would not have been able to tell.

I need and arcee that's:
Less than 50 bucks (U.S.)
Looks enough like G1 in Robot mode (pink, lelia buns)
Good transformation
Not too big of a backpack
Isn't an embarrassment to own

If you want to have the "perfect" deluxe Arcee, stop being a scrooge and pay the price. You have only two options left. Go old school and do what people did before the Generations T-30 Arcee existed.
either you get an Animated Arcee with a custom head, or you get the Igear MGT-01 Delicate Warrior.

Animated Arcee with a custom head is probably the best bet, a good amalgamation of Arcees thanks to Animated being a fanwank hodge podge (I mean that in a good way, trust me), and probably isn't expensive to get nowadays. Plus it's a nice toy with nice stylings that isn't trying to emulate a design that never considered how transformation would work in the real world.

Either that or just buy the current retail Arcee and accept it.

I never had a problem with the character. I'd love to see a Generations Selects version based on the look from the old story book, Wheelie was portrayed as a lost jungle boy who had to adapt to survive.

To be in this hobby you MUST spend money. Especially when you ask for the impossible.

Everyone told you that the your best and CHEAPEST option is SS86 Arcee, who is a fusion of the best elements of the old T-30 mold and the ER/KD mold. But it's not enough. You said so yourself.

So if the regular stuff that is available RIGHT NOW and is the "best" yet at regular retail is not enough, what then?
Pay the price.
Go full 3P, or buy the older stuff on the secondary market at triple the price. Like so many of us did and still do.

Welcome to the EXPENSIVE hobby of toy collecting. A hobby where being cheap is NEVER an option.

I definitely feel that, heh. I'll probably wait until there's an even better Arcee toy anyway, even if it's not "100% accurate", it'll probably be G1 enough. The Bumblebee movie Arcee I think is also probably another "good enough" as a G1-styled Arcee toy that doesn't have a junkyard's worth of car parts cello taped to her back. It may be hard to track that one down for a good price right now, though.

Does the bumblebee movie arcee fit in with generations well enough? If it does I'll probably buy it and order a g1 head for it.
But no, the 86 is a peace of crap, and no-one can prove otherwise

Bee Movie Arcee is a Bay-Bot and no new hat will ever change that fact.

Based on your impossible criteria, you will never, ever own a "G1" Arcee. Ever.
Good luck trying to get water from that stone.

Personally I think it does, the head's honestly the only thing I find that makes it look out of place. (Obviously to match the live-action aesthetic of the previous films) It still does have the general shape of G1 Arcees as well as having the classic Leia buns, so it could still fit in without a head swap if you squint and save money on getting a replacement head. The feet are also the only thing that sorta seem out of place, again to match the greebly aesthetic of the Bay films, but that's bordering nitpick territory and hard to notice.
The vehicle mode definitely is a far cry from the OG sci-fi sports car, though, if you're concerned about that.

I will say I'm not too picky with matching aesthetics so I still would probably get BB Arcee as my ""G1"" Arcee.
Emphasis on "probably" because I am eager to see Rise of the Beasts Arcee and how the Studio Series toy for that will turn out.

Ironically enough - I like this design! I mean, I don't think it's the best of the Bay film designs and especially not the best Arcee design, but I just find it unique in a "fun" way. It's still pretty flawed and I prefer the design of the first Deluxe toy (that sadly didn't get to appear in a film...) however.

But, yeah, God I hope they don't try to go back to this design for RotB as funny as it would be.

Arcee is one if the only ROTB bots to have been shown already to industry professionals and from what was said, it is very much a G1 take in live action, like Bee movie Optimus is.

I really don't understand your problem with T30 Arcee. You want G1 accuracy, but are going out of your way avoiding it, it makes no sense to me. She should tick all of your requirement boxes: She's accurate in both modes (if you can ignore the black), she isn't a shellformer like the Earthrise figure, parts of her body actually become parts of the alt mode, she has a more compact backpack than a lot of her male counterparts (much of it character correct), and she's still pretty affordable. She's the best Deluxe G1 Arcee we've had and likely ever will have since the SS86 Arcee does more shellforming.

I would proffer that the Legends version is even better, due to the more accurate G1 paintjob.

Weird timing, I took the other photo you used and at my store there are still 4 Grindors left, but everything else sold, including the 10+ Starscreams that have been stocked since then. That store even had a Kingdom T-Wrecks case randomly show up last month that also moved within a week or 2.

Just for the record, I remember when that photo was featured as well. None of the Targets in my area had an endcap like that. I did see all those toys eventually in very small quantities though. Not sure when Sludge will ever get to my area as every store has 4-6 Coronation Starscream.

In fact I don't think I've seen any new SS since the Bumblebee wave with Brawn, Ratchet, etc....and those sold out quickly.

The T-30 MOLD is actually fine. The color scheme is the problem. I got over TR Kup's color scheme, but t-30 Arcee is just inappropriate. Then legends sells for $70+

Well, I guess that's one figure I won't have to worry about after all. Whoever approved this Ironhide should be ashamed, in my opinion. Why even smegging bother with making a whole new mold at the Voyager price point if they weren't going to take proper advantage by fully recreating the sled (which is, in fact, part of the cartoon character design)? What a complete waste... Thanks for getting my hopes up for nothing, HasTak...
This was your best chance yet to create a more definitive update than the BotCon toy from SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO, and ya smegging blew it. That's what, four attempts now? Ugh.... :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: :(

At least Sludge is nice. Sludge is good. Glad to have Sludge.

In the cartoon it only ever appeared once, and it was for Ratchet. Ironhide did not make use of the toy's "battle sled" and instead just used the various weapons it contained on his own person.
They're going for a cartoon accurate look, and thus they're not including said component since he never used it in the cartoon. Earthrise Ironhide is most likely going to be your best bet at an Earth-mode cartoon inspired figure that basically has that component.

Passing on Ironhide. Igear will remain on my movie shelve. Mainly because I'd want Ironhide for vehicle mode to go next to mp. The cab winndow seems to be a throwback to the cut up ness of classics ironhide and visible screws to boot. Not sure I like it enough for botmode on movie shelve on then Igear in vehicle mode so I'll just avoid it until as/when/if Hasbro does him well.

Wait a sec, we see Ironhide's sled in the cartoon? Is it like a Prime and trailer thing where in alt mode it magically floats out of nowhere and combines onto him?

Only in the veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery first episode, for one scene, and only for Ratchet, who then never uses it ever again.
It's not even part of their character models either, and likewise barely appears once (for both characters) in the Marvel comics.

Thanks. Marvel comics is something else though, and quite funny since whenever I see the G1 Ironhide toy, I'm like "wow, a Marvel comics issue 1 accurate toy!"

And yeah, here's Ironhide transforming in the show. This toy, along with the MP, try to convey the idea of him going from one mode to the next without requiring extra pieces.

Image

Also check it out, no yellow stripe

Oh and you guys are gonna laugh at me. I do try to transform my toys without looking at instructions. But man, Exosuit Spike stumped me. I really had no clue what I was supposed to do and through which orientation since nothing was budging or turning properly.

Turns out any idea I had was over complicated and I would have never guessed how basic his transformation is. Still, his arms don't fall off and articulate ok, he rolls ok, and transforms, so I guess out of the 4 exo suite figures we have (not counting the headmaster), this is the winner.

You know what'd be interesting? 86 Optimus death scene, but he passes away on Ratchet's med sled.

Would look just as gray since Ratchet was already dead well before that scene.

Still, Hasbro have never released a definitive version of either Ratchet or Ironhide with their built-in tracked battle/repair platforms. They couldn't even manage it in their MP releases (and there's no excuse for that). As was mentioned, it took a repainted Cybertron figure (based upon Ironhide and Ratchet) by a third party at Botcon, to do it. It is rather shameful of them.

I do think it would be cute having their sleds included, even if the van mode didn't require it all for transformation. The Masterpiece toys of both Ratchet and Ironhide included it and it was also neat how it held all their accessories.
Would probably bump up Ironhide into "Leader class" if this one is already "Voyager class", but it would be a nice little playset. Maybe it can even transform into a lil camper for them to tow in vehicle mode to add some extra functionality. Kids would probably dig it too.

The MP didn't include the full platforms, as they omitted the raised legs and tracked wheels. It was more of an after-thought.

Oh, they didn't? I must've forgotten, I don't really care much for MPs, but that is a bit...lame. Might as well have gone all the way with it, because that would've been the perfect throwback! So yeah, they definitely have to do it if they ever do a new version of their MP figures, otherwise that'll be a missed opportunity.

They could have even used his roof kibble to make the sled, which would have reduced the hassle in incorporating more gumf into the robot modes, but Bakara decided to go "full-anime", as they usually have these days, bless their little idiotic cotton socks.

I am not claiming to be one of them, but many would complain about the parts forming.
